1 - PONY CLUB SCHOOLING SHOW Saturday, October 25TH 9:00AM Start Time Come and have some ooky, spooky fun with High Country Pony Club! This will be a spooktacular schooling show. It will give pony-clubbers a chance to compete in show jumping and a chance to learn about what is required within a safe (but eerie) and friendly (but hair-raising) setting. The show will be held either in the indoor arena or, if weather permits, the outdoor arena or of the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society. In case of inclement weather call for show status. Decision will be made 7 pm. of the night prior to the show and will be communicated to all show entrants via . Classes with more than 12 entries may be split. Classes with less than 4 entries may be cancelled. Competitors riding and / or tested to higher levels are welcome to ride in the lower levels (space permitting) but are encouraged to ride hors concours (you may ride but won t be given a ribbon). 2 CLASS LIST: 9:00 AM start time Division 1: I WANT MY MUMMY These classes are open to E level riders who are not yet comfortable cantering in the show ring. In Division A, cantering is not allowed. Horses may be on a lead line with an experienced handler, or a coach or parent may be in the ring to help the rider over obstacles. Each trot pole class includes one timed round only. The first round will be against the clock with a time allowed but in the event of equality of Penalties for first place there will be one (1) jump-off against the clock. Exceeding the time allowed in the jump-off round will incur one (1) Penalty for each second commenced. Other Riders are placed according to their Penalties in the first round. There will be an immediate jump off after a clear round. We reserve the right to adjust the time allowed if required. Courses will be published on the day of the show. We will use two different courses course one for Clear Round and Round 1, course two for Round Division 2: THE SCREAMERS These classes are open to E and D level riders. Riders MUST be able to ride independently in the ring; i.e. No lead lines, and no coaching allowed. 4 These classes are open to C level riders. Jumps not to exceed 3 Class 24 The Brides Equitation class (no jumps) Class 25 The Brides Clear Round Class 26 The Brides 3 round 1 Class 27 The Brides 3 round 2 Each division will start with a walk through of the course (if so desired by the competitors) and prior to the start of each division there will be a flat warm up of 5 minutes in the actual ring. Weather permitting warm-up jumps will be set-up in the rodeo infield (directly north of the ground s grandstand). Cross entries are permitted. You can compete for a ribbon if your pony club level is at or lower than the level requirement for the division. If your pony club level is higher you are welcome to compete hors concours. For example, if you are a D1 level rider you can compete in divisions 3 and up, if you are a D2 level rider you can compete in divisions 4 and up, etc. If you are a C level rider wishing to school your young horse in the trot pole division you are very welcome to do so but will not receive a ribbon. Equitation classes: In these classes riders will be judged on position, seat and aids. The horses are shown at the walk, trot and canter (with the exception of class 3, which is a walk-trot class) in both directions. In some classes backing up, an extended trot and a hand gallop may also be required. The competitors may also be asked to ride without stirrups. Clear round: Classes will be judged, they are timed and penalties are recorded. Those riders that are without penalties (time penalties, knock downs or refusals) will receive a clear round ribbon. There are no placings for these rounds. You can regard the clear round as a warm-up for the actual competition. Entries may be mailed to Jackie Rawn, Box 108, Millarville, Alberta, T0L 1K0. 5 This show is for schooling purposes only. Competitors will not earn points for National or Regional Show Jumping competitions. 1. The classes are open to Pony Club members in good standing. 2. All riders must be AEF members in good standing. Bring your AEF card! 3. The show will follow the CPC Show jumping rules, revised April You can find a full version of those on the Canadian Pony Club website. It is the competitor s responsibility to familiarize themselves with these rules. 4. Boots with a heel, ASTM/SEI approved hard hats and Medical Armbands are compulsory while mounted anywhere on the show grounds. 5. Tack to be clean and correctly fitted and compliant with the rules for the discipline. Braiding is optional. 6. When competing, wear your pony club pin with colored disk (except E level pony-clubbers without disks). 7. Stallions and horses under the age of five are not permitted to show. 8. Entry fees are $10.00 per class 9. Clear round fees are $ 7.00 per round (i.e. classes 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25). 10. Make cheques payable to: High Country Pony Club 11. Participation ribbons will be awarded to all other competitors in divisions one and two. 13. There is a non-refundable EMS fee of $12.00 per rider, a $5.00 administration fee, a refundable number fee of $5.00, and a late-fee of $10.00 for entries received after October 17 TH. 14. The show office will open at 7:30am at the day of the show. Show registrations will not be accepted after 8:30am the day of the show. 15. Extra classes may be post entered during the day at an extra cost of $2.00 per class. 16. The show committee reserves the right to cancel any classes that lack sufficient number of entries. Class fee will be refunded if a class is eliminated. 17. The show committee reserves the right to refuse any entry. 18. High Country Pony Club, the competition, their officials, organizers, agents, employees, volunteers or representatives of the show committee will not be held responsible in any way for damage, injury or loss to persons, horses, tack, property, spectators or exhibitors. 19. All participants are required to sign a waiver for the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society prior to participating. 20. All judges decisions are final. 21. High Country Pony Club has the expectation that all participants and parents and/or guardians will demonstrate respect and cooperation in their dealings with the show officials and personnel. Any violation of this expectation may result in that person(s) being asked to leave the show premises and forfeit their entry fees. 22. Any horse that is out of control or unsound will be excused from the class or classes. No refund will be given. 23. Please clean up after your horse and yourselves. 24. A red ribbon or tag in their tail must identify horses likely to kick.

6 25. There are currently no plans for Food service to be available on site. Please plan to bring your lunch! 26. Trailers and cars must be parked in designated areas. 27. Dogs are not allowed on the Ag Society grounds during the show. 28. CANCELLATION OF ENTRIES: Exhibitors canceling entries after receipt by the show office shall forfeit their entries, except where a certificate of disability from a qualified veterinarian is presented to the show office prior to the start of classes. 29. CROSS ENTRIES: Cross Entries are only allowed when the rider meets the Pony Club rating requirement for the division. Time, and number of entries permitting, a horse/rider combination exceeding the Pony Club rating for a division may be permitted to ride hors concours. This option may be attractive to older Pony Club members on younger horses. 30. SMOKING: No smoking in any building. 31. No lunging allowed inside the arena. 32. No feeding of hay or grain to horses along rail of arena.

8 ARENA USAGE WAIVER THIS IS AN ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY. BY BECOMING A PARTICIPANT IN MRAS INDOOR AND OUTDOOR ARENA USAGE, YOU ARE AGREEING TO ASSUME CERTAIN RISKS AND TO RELEASE THE MRAS AND OTHER PARTIES FROM LIABILITY. PLEASE READ THIS PROVISION CAREFULLY. Participants acknowledge that some horse-based events/activities can be dangerous by their inherent nature and that participation in equine events, training clinics and other activities as a competitor as well as casual riding in all areas of the MRAS grounds (including without limitation, the rodeo arena, indoor arena, competition area, chutes, pens, sand ring, and other areas within the MRAS grounds) exposes the participant to substantial and serious hazards and risks of property damage, personal injury and/or death. In consideration of being permitted to participate in the event the participant(s), in any capacity, does by such participation agree to assume such hazards and risks and does thereby discharge, waive, and release the MRAS, the MRAS officers & directors, properties, all sponsors, all other Members and Permit holders, any involved Committees and their members, and any other MRAS members involved in the production, organization, conduct, sponsoring and/or execution of the subject activity (and such persons or entities affiliated, related or subsidiary companies and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents) from all claims, demands and liabilities for any and all property damage, personal injury and/or death or other responsibility arising from such involvement, including claims, demands, liabilities and other responsibilities that are known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen, future or contingent, and whether or not such claims, demands, liabilities, and other responsibilities are occasioned by the negligence of the parties so released by such participants, by the hazards and risks so assumed by such participants, or otherwise. Such participants shall not now, or at any time in the future, directly or indirectly, commence or prosecute any action, suit, or other proceedings against the parties so released arising out of, or related to, the claims, demands, liabilities and other responsibilities so discharged, waived and released by such Member, Participant, or Permit holder. The undertakings and covenants of the foregoing provisions shall be binding upon each participant, his or her spouse, heirs, legal representatives, successors, and assigns. Participants acknowledge that they are and remain fully responsible for obtaining and maintaining proper and adequate medical and dental coverage and/or insurance and further that MRAS does not carry or have any responsibility to provide any person such coverage or insurance.
