15 Habitual gamblers (29%) Mean age=53, sd=14 48% women 11% born outside Sweden 25% studied at university level Mean income above average, less differentiated 33% have children in their household All gambling forms, and especially horses and lotto, not many in poker, casino-games or machines. 10% gambling on the Internet. Many frequent gamblers, spend fairly large sums on gambling.
16 Occasional gamblers (10%) Mean age=40, sd=18 54% women 14% born outside Sweden 22% studied at university level Lower average income, less differentiated 15% have children in their household All gambling forms except poker. Not much bingo or casino games. Calling into TV-shows common. 5% gambling on the Internet. Not much time, mainly small sums spent.
17 Poker gamblers (5%) Mean age=29, sd=14 20% women 7% born outside Sweden 27% studied at university level Lower average income, less differentiated 16% have children in household Everybody play poker. All gambling forms except TV-shows. Few bingo or lotto gamblers. 20% gambling on the Internet. More time spent than the average, small sums for half the group.
18 Heavy gamblers (9%) Mean age=36, sd=14 24% women 11% born outside Sweden 18% studied at university level Average income, but less differentiated 29% have children in their household All gambling forms, most frequent gamblers. 33% gamble on the Internet. Much time and money spent on gambling.
