A horse must never be left unattended while put to a vehicle. Failure to comply will incur elimination! All courses will be posted in the program and available to all competitors when they receive packets. Championship Rules The Championships will be awarded in six divisions: Horse, Pony, VSE, Pair/Multiple, Novice and Challenged Driver. The turnout with the most accumulated points in their division will receive an award and a rosette. Any division or class must have a minimum of three (3) competitors or may be cancelled or combined at management s discretion. In this competition, an entry is defined as a combination of horse(s), vehicle, and driver and will be assigned a specific entry number. Changes are only allowed to the carriage for Sunday s classes. Championship points are accumulated based on number of entries per class, not to exceed five points. For example, if there are ten entries in a class, first place will receive five points, second will receive four points, and so on to fifth place. Rosettes are provided through sixth place and will be awarded at the end of each class. Division Championships will be awarded after all classes are completed and final points totaled. Rules to Remember A bridle with reins attached MUST be in place, whenever a horse is put to a vehicle. Never tie a horse to anything, while it is hitched to a carriage. Someone must be in the carriage, at all times while it is hitched. Never remove the bridle of a hitched horse. All Juniors MUST wear Protective Headgear which meets or exceeds current ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)/SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carry the SEI tag. All dogs must be on a leash at all times while on show grounds. This policy will be strictly enforced. Management reserves the right to cancel, combine, or change classes, schedule, courses etc. at their discretion.

Obstacles must be clearly numbered. After passing through the Start markers, the driver shall proceed through each obstacle, in order, keeping within the limits of the designated course markers and passing through the designated Finish markers. a) Placings will be determined on a low fault basis (i.e. those with fewer faults finish ahead of those with more faults). b) Course faults and one fault for each commenced second over the Time Allowed are added together for a total score. c) The Time Allowed is to be calculated as per Article 52. d) Time will decide ties for those with equal fault totals. For additional information on penalties, etc. see ADS Art.60. Fault and Out ~ A pleasure obstacle class to be driven at the trot over a course of numbered cones. After passing the starting line, the driver shall proceed through each obstacle, in order, until the allowed time expires, or an obstacle is dislodged, or disobedience occurs. When time expires or an obstacle is dislodged, a signal will be given. The driver shall then proceed through the next consecutive obstacle where time will be taken upon clearance of the rear axle. One point is given for the obstacle driven after the signal. For details see Article 59 A. Pick Your Route ~ 1. To be driven over a course of obstacles (paired markers) with no set route. The number of obstacles to be proportionate to the dimensions of the driving area. Not to exceed 20 obstacles. 2. Typically, obstacles in this type of class are not measured for each entry but are set at 80 inches (200 cm) at the start of the competition, and only reset in the event of a knockdown. 3. After passing through the Start markers, the driver shall proceed through each obstacle to the designated Finish markers, choosing his own route. Each obstacle and the start and finish lines to be negotiated once and only once, but may be approached from either direction. 4. Course faults are listed in Article 57. Course faults are scored as penalty seconds and are added to the driver s elapsed time. Placings are determined on a low total time basis.
