Supplementary Report Port Macquarie Friday 13 April 2018 Licensed stable foreman Mr T Bellew pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178A, in that during the course of the race meeting he was found to have a syringe in his possession. Mr Bellew was fined $500. In assessing penalty Stewards were satisfied that the syringe had not been used on any runners at the meeting. Late Riding Changes As C Franklin was indisposed due to illness the following rider changes were permitted: Race 2 Budderball A Layt Race 4 Wee Rascal A Layt Race 5 Let Me Guess A Chau C Franklin was told that he would be required to furnish a medical certificate prior to riding again. As A Bullock was overweight the following rider changes were permitted: Race 1 Second Island B Looker Race 6 Leave Ya Numba T Treichel A Bullock was fined $300 under AR120(b). RACE 1: Danny Buderus Class 2 Handicap 1007m Second Island Slow to begin. Held up for a short distance approaching the home turn. Dragoneight From its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Lil Lucky As C O Brien was overweight permission was granted for S Lisnyy to be substituted as the rider. C O Brien was fined $100 under AR120(b). Miss Gigi Slow to begin. Zioptimus Rider A Layt reported that the gelding never travelled well at any stage and in his opinion it failed to handle the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was resuming from a spell and raced wide and without cover throughout the event, revealed no abnormalities.

2 RACE 2: Don Hopkins Gateway Advertisers Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1614m Frisco Albert When questioned regarding the performance, rider B Looker stated that after being slow to begin his mount settled at the tail of the field. He stated that his mount never travelled well at any stage and was disappointing in its failure to respond to his riding when placed under pressure from as far out as the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Sugarland Express Hung out rounding the home turn and in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out. Real Time Warrior Slow to begin. Raced wide and without cover from the 900m. Miss Zodiac Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out. Villarrica Rounding the turn near the 1300m was bumped by Lord Morpheus. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance, trainer Mr J Englebrecht stated that the mare had disappointed in its first start for his stable at Muswellbrook on 17 June He stated that following this run he increased the intensity of its trackwork and he felt that this, along with the increased distance of today s race and the soft track conditions, were the principal reasons for the mare s improved performance. Lord Morpheus Laid out rounding the first turn near the 1300m and bumped Villarrica. Passing the 200m was steadied when disappointed for a run to the inside of Spanish Steps, which shifted in, and had to be shifted to the outside of that runner to continue into clear running. Spanish Steps When questioned regarding the performance, rider J Adams stated that after obtaining a position outside the leader Sugarland Express near the 1300m he took hold of the filly in an attempt to sit off that runner, however when his mount commenced to overrace and refused to settle he allowed it to stride forward to assume the lead near the 1000m rather than continue to fight it. He stated that the filly, which was racing over 1600m for the first time, continued to overrace throughout the middle stages and as a consequence weakened over the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be slow to recover. Budderball Slow to begin. RACE 3: Manning Valley Born State Of Origin Winners Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1614m Baradine Bound Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the middle stages. For some distance after the 500m was held up and did not obtain clear running until straightening. Lucky Starlet From its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Luddenham Lass When questioned regarding the performance, rider S Lisnyy stated that after beginning only fairly he rode his mount along to take up its customary forward position, however when it did not muster sufficient speed to cross runners to its inside he elected to restrain and trail Oh No Not Again rather than continue to race wide. He stated that when positioned with cover the mare commenced to race fiercely and for some distance after the 1300m he was obliged to continually check his mount away from the heels of Oh No Not Again. He added that when placed under pressure from the 600m the mare did not respond and was disappointing, however he had recommended to connections that the mare be stepped up in distance, whereby it may settle in a more prominent position and race more tractably. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly revealed no abnormalities.

3 Eye Was Slow to begin. RACE 4: Congratulations The Mighty NSW Blues Maiden Handicap 1007m Barucci Slow to begin. Myshadowandi A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was beaten 26L, revealed no abnormalities. Stable representative Mrs C Phegan advised that Myshadowandi would now be spelled. Mrs Phegan was told that Myshadowandi would be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial prior to racing again. Haley s Girl Slow to begin (2L). Near the 50m had to be directed to the outside of Dream A Lot to continue into clear running. Superior Offer From its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Call The Game Slow to begin. Bubbles De Beer When questioned regarding the performance, rider apprentice C Graham stated that the mare never travelled well at any stage of the race and failed to handle the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which raced wide and without cover throughout the event and was beaten 21L, revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Ms L Sheppard was told that Bubbles De Beer would be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial prior to racing again. RACE 5: Farewell Drew Smith Maiden Plate 1257m Wild Kingdom When questioned regarding the performance, rider A Bullock stated that after beginning only fairly his mount was able to obtain a position midfield with cover, where it travelled well. He stated, however, that when placed under pressure from the 500m his mount failed to respond and was disappointing. A Bullock added that the only explanation he could offer was that his mount made an abnormal respiratory noise on pulling up and in his opinion it may benefit from the application of a tongue tie. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr K Lees subsequently reported that an endoscopic examination of the horse on return to his stables revealed it to have an entrapped epiglottis, for which it is now scheduled to undergo corrective surgery. San Marco When questioned regarding the performance, rider M McGuren stated that his mount travelled well throughout the early and middle stages and when placed under pressure from the 500m initially responded to his riding, however rounding the home turn it became unbalanced and shifted wider when bumped by El Casco, which was taken out by Wild Kingdom, and was disappointing in its failure to finish its race off from that point. A postrace veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Towel Token Slow to begin (3L). Passing the 1000m was crowded by Arizona Belle, which shifted in slightly before being corrected by its rider. Near the 250m was directed to the inside of Husseys Hog to continue into clear running. Ilcallya Near the 900m was steadied to avoid the heels of Pullman Brown (apprentice L Day), which shifted in when not clear. Apprentice Day was told to ensure she is the required two lengths clear when shifting ground. For some distance after this incident Ilcallya was inclined to overrace. Lady Wahoo Hung out when placed under pressure in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out.

4 Asudem On jumping was crowded between Wild Kingdom and Ilcallya, which shifted out. Approaching the 500m hung out towards the heels of Wild Kingdom and had to be checked. RACE 6: Boyd Cordner Benchmark 63 Handicap 1412m It s Pa Trainer Ms A Bennett was fined $100 under LR35(2) for the late declaration of P Graham as the rider. Slow to begin. Presscott Slow to begin. Lady Veronique Slow to begin (2L). Raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 800m improved onto the heels of Presscott and had to be steadied. Southern Delight Slow to begin (2L). RACE 7: Holli Wheeler F&M Benchmark 55 Handicap 1257m Stop The Fight Knuckled on jumping. Mazurka Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Falsified From its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Dark Elixir When questioned regarding her riding, B Hodder stated that whilst she was given the option to lead, she was instructed to obtain cover if the tempo was genuine. She stated that when the tempo in the early stages was in her opinion fast she allowed Stradance and Advalady to cross her mount approaching the first turn, where it travelled well. Eat The Rich Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. RACE 8: Latrell Mitchell C,G&E Benchmark 55 Handicap 1257m Akamin Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages when racing wide and without cover. Ministry Of Fear Held up rounding the home turn. Jeff s Folly Overraced in the middle stages and near the 800m improved onto the heels of Kendalman and had to be checked. Shalama Slow to begin. Natural Predator Became held up from the 400m and did not obtain clear running until near the 250m. French Command As A Chau was overweight permission was granted for J Adams to be substituted as the rider. A Chau was fined $100 under AR120(b). Slow to begin.
