2 GILROY GAITS Dressage at the Gaits Saturday Evening Wine and Cheese Reception With Evening Performances Hosted by: GILROY GAITS The Freestyle classes #171 and #172 on Saturday will be held in the evening. Special Costume Freestyle and Pas de Deux Exhibition class will also be held. Many other demonstrations, events and entertainment will fill the evening. Evening performance to commence shortly after 5:00 PM Competitors and their guests are all invited. 2

Class will be held Saturday Evening after 5PM. Class # 6: Costume Individual Freestyle and Pas De Deux Exhibition Class Test of choice (state level on entry) Entry Fee: $25 Sunday Stakes Classes Stakes classes will have a base purse of $200 to be split between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of the class. $10 of each class entry will be added to the purse to increase the grand total awarded. Purse size dependent on total number of entrants. Entry fees for Stakes class will not be refunded if competitor scratches the class or the show. Stakes Classes all held on Sunday September 2, 2012 Stakes classes are open to all divisions and will not be split for awards. 6 SHOW RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION PLEASE READ CAREFULY 1. RULES: This show is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule Book and will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. It us up to competitors to know, understand, and follow competition rules. 2. ENTRIES: All entries must be postmarked by the closing date. The show management may close entries early if the show fills. Late entries will be accepted as space allows. Entries must be filled out completely, signed by rider, owner, trainer and coach and have proper fees enclosed. Junior riders (under 18 YO) must have the parent or guardian parent sign the release. Trainer must be 18 years old or older. No numbers will be issued without completed entries, full payment, signatures, fees and CURRENT copies of ALL registration cards. Fee of $10 will be charged if all cards are not attached. 3. RIDE TIMES: Times will be ed and posted on the Gilroy Gaits and Fox Village websites. ( or Please submit a legible valid address with entry. It is the rider s responsibility to inform management if times are not received. Riders should be prepared to ride at any time, as classes may need to be scheduled out of order. 4. MANAGEMENT: The Horse Show Management reserves the right to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of any incident in the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered in these rules and regulations shall be decided by the Horse Show Management and their decision will be final. The Horse Show Management reserves itself the right to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify riders or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries and to cancel/ award prizes, without claim to damage, to change, cancel or combine any classes, to reschedule classes after due notice to exhibitors, or to change rings or substitute officials. The judges decisions are strictly their own and the Management accepts absolutely no responsibility for those decisions. Management reserves the right to arrange for additional judges and to cancel, combine or amend any class, including but not limited to class awards, scheduling and location. 5. DIVISIONS: Show Management reserves the right to pin classes by divisions as entries warrant. Indicate Open/Adult Amateur/Junior division eligibility on entry. 6. LUNGING: Absolutely no lunging in the warm up arena. Lunging allowed in designated lunging arenas only. 7. ARENAS and FOOTING: Show arena is indoors and is standard regulation size (20m x 60m) overall dimensions approximately 150 X 300, and has Euro Sand footing. Warm up arena is outdoors with similar footing. 8. VET & FARRIER: On call. Phone numbers will be posted at the show office. 9. PONY MEASUREMENT: Competitors wishing to have their scores count for pony awards must include a current pony measurement card with their entry. Pony measurements can only be provided if arranged in advance (at least two weeks before the show) with show secretary. Competitors are responsible for any vet call charges for measuring ponies. 10. SCRATCHES AND CANCELLATIONS: It s the competitors responsibility to inform the show secretary of intention to scratch. Scratches made before the closing date or at any time with a doctor s or veterinarian s certificate will have fees refunded less the office fee. Scratches after closing date without medical certification or proof of a life altering event will not be refunded. If MANAGEMENT decides to cancel the show for any reason, entrants will be given a refund of fees less the office fee. 11. AWARDS: Ribbons through 5th place. Awards to 1st in classes of 3 or more. 12. STABLING: Plenty of permanent 12 x12 stalls with doors and promat floors. Initial shavings provided. Additional bedding available at $10/bale. No outside shavings permitted. Competitor is responsible for feed/hay. Stabling $45 per day Weekend Stall $125 per weekend Fri-Sun Tack Stall $110 per show 13. RV Camping: $35 per night. Self-contained only no hookups. 14. FOOD: Food will be available on the grounds. Morning and afternoon Coffee and pastries by Lucky Cup. Lunch available 11 AM to 2 PM. 15. DOGS: Please leave dogs at home. New 2011 GR USEF Rules apply. Please review. 16. SHARPS CONTAINERS: GR Competition management shall place a minimum of one sharps container per each competition, whether or not stabling is provided. Additionally, at least one sharps container per fifty occupied stalls for the disposal of needles and other disposable sharp instruments in convenient locations in barns housing competition horses. It is competition management s responsibility to replace such containers when full and dispose of them properly. Competition management may fine any individuals including trainers, owners, exhibitors, or their agents up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments. Competition management will place a notice of this requirement either in its prize list or on a specific handout given to trainers on check in at the competition. If local law has different requirements, local law will prevail. Competitions failing to comply with placing the required number of containers on the show grounds will be considered in violation of the rules and may be subject to penalty as determined by the CEO or Executive Director and/or the Hearing Committee. 17. PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR FOR DRESSAGE STATEMENT: In accordance with DR120.5 Effective March 1, 2011, for dressage: Anyone mounted on a horse must wear protective headgear except those riders age 18 and over while on horses that are competing only in FEI levels and tests at the Prix St. Georges level and above (including FEI Young Rider Tests, the USEF Developing Prix St. Georges Test and the USEF Brentina Cup Test). 11 USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 nonmember registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. Motorized Vehicle Statement In accordance with GR1301.7: Minors who do not have a valid driver's license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver's license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. CDS Members who participate in a CDS recognized show may not be required to pay non-member fees to any other organization (National Federation-US Equestrian, or National Breed Organizations exempted) in order to participate in the show. For CDS recognized shows in California, Nevada, Arizona and Oregon, CDS agrees to a reciprocal nonmember system where CDS will waive the non-member fee IF the competitor and/or owner is a member of another USDF GMO; and in return the show management will not charge CDS members a non-member fee for any other GMO. If the competitor and/or owner is not a member of CDS or any other GMO, then the show management will charge and collect non-member fees for CDS. 11
