We look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting. There is a lot to discuss as we move forward into show season. I have been talking with our fellow clubs and have some great news about a possible year end high point program for Area 8. Everything is on track for our show and the new ideas are in the works and becoming reality. I have good news about a vendor for our show as well. 3 Combined Driving by Merridy Hance Right around the corner there s an event that may pique your interest for driving your horses in the great out-of-doors. On May 29th, 30th and 31st, Equestrians Institute will present Everything But the Kitchen Sink at Happy Trails Arena in Ethel, Washington. The event will offer an array of choices, and horses and ponies of all sizes are welcome. You may take a lesson from world famous driver Leslie Berndl. You may choose to drive and be scored on one or more dressage tests in the Dressage Festival. You may enter Pleasure driving classes: Carriage Dog, Freestyle Dressage, Gambler s Choice Obstacles, or Ride and Drive (mini s may do the riding part in-hand). You may compete in a one-day Driving Trial. You may school your horse pretty much to your heart s content this whole weekend, yes, even in advance of competing in the Driving Trial. This is not an American Driving Society recognized event, but ADS rules will be followed. 4 EVERGREEN SPECTACULAR/AREA VIII NATIONAL AREA SHOW Once again, Evergreen Miniature Horse Club will be hosting the Area VIII National Area Show. Sponsors and Volunteers will be needed for the show as this is what makes the shows possible. Our Sponsors help with the finances of our shows. Our volunteers help to make the show run smoothly. If you would like to volunteer for any of the many areas that help, please contact one of the board members. You can take a Sponsor form to your tack store or feed store to see if they will give you a bag of feed, tack or sponsor a class. Their name/store will be mentioned on the EMHC website, be listed in the newsletter and displayed as a sponsor at the show. Each state has their own requirements regarding health certificates and the need for coggins testing. Some states only require a current health certificate. When crossing the border into Canada, you will also need additional forms for taking any animal into Canada whether it be horses, dogs, cats or whatever. Your veterinarian will have all of these forms. A very good book to have regarding Interstate travel is the U.S Stabling Guide. This book covers all of the requirements for each state when traveling. It also has a list of stables for those needing overnight stabling. There are also some very good recipes in this book along with pre trip check list, a few interviews with Veterinarians, farriers and stables. This book is well worth the price of it for those traveling and needing overnight stabling. Miniature Mouthpiece Page 4

Imagine what he can do for you this year. $1000 MARK BULLINGTON MEMORIAL To those of us who knew and miss Mark: Pat and I started a memorial for Mark right after his death. Each year we take items to the homeless, needy and the left behind by society. Items that are needed and often not provided at shelters are shampoo, tooth paste, tooth brushes, combs, lotions, etc. If you would like to donate even partial bottles, they would be appreciated. Please bring them to the next meeting. We also take donations all year long. They can be dropped off at any AMHA or AMHR show at our stalls or where we are camping. Thank you all. These are not culls. >BC I Can t Believe She Is Not Black: 3 yr old bay Foundation Certified ASPC filly, 40.5 at withers, very nice conformation and should be in the show arena. Her sire is Lil Britches Kid Clyde (HOF) Dam: Pan s Showstopper who is by SG Up & Atom (HOF). She has an awesome pedigree. Princess leads, stands for the farrier, I have clipped her head and bridle path and legs without problems, she trailers well. She is a quick learner. I have worked with her on standing up for halter and she does well with this. She should be a very nice driving pony as she has very nice movement. I am asking $1250. > JC s Katydid: ASPC/AMHR, Foundation Certified, DOB: May 10, 1999, at her withers, grey with brindle markings. Katy has her HOF in halter. Sire: Z.J. s Windwalker (HOF) by Wink s Showdeo Kidd II: Dam: BHR Pearl (HOF). Katy was bred to Cheg Kim s Golden Ranger (HOF). She stands for trims, clips, bathes, leads and trailers well. She is a great mare and retired for a broodmare. This is a great foal between these two. Asking $1500. > Miss Tough and Ready: ASPC, Foundation Certified; filly, Dob: May 14, 2014; Grulla? (she keeps changing at this point); VERY NICE filly, VERY nice conformation as she is better than both parents and both parents have their HOF in Halter. Sire: Cheg- Kims Golden Ranger (HOF); Dam: JC s Katydid (HOF). This could be your next halter winner. She will be weaned in October; asking $1000 for this gorgeous filly. He is a nice mover with very nice conformation. Asking $750 > Mini Appy s Red Baron: AMHR, Born May 2014, sorrel gelding with a great trot, should be a good county driving horse with a fancy trot - not quite a pleasure trot. He has a baby doll type head with a level top line, very nice conformation. His dam: Little Katrina, is a red roan with her HOF in halter. She did well in Liberty too.
