7 Challenges facing Equestrians Unintended consequences of growth has disproportionate negative effect for equestrians. (loss of land and trail access) Islands of equestrian neighborhoods (fences, paved trails/roads) Safety issues on public trails (paved trails, bikes, dogs off leash) Only 11% of all 350 miles of trails are equestrian friendly Equestrian friendly trails & trail heads don t meet basic standards Limited trails were you can ride your horse faster than a walk No trails offer recreational or competitive trails for equestrians (bridle paths, conditioning trails, gallop tracks, cross country courses) Lack of affordable options (becoming an elitist sport) Lack of accessible options (youth programs, learn to ride, & creating the next generation of knowledgeable horsemen and horsewomen)
