1 HORSEMEN WITHOUT A HORSE DIVISION I Grades 3 & 4 - Horses & Horsemanship Name: Club:

2 PURPOSE OF PROJECT 1. Develop an appreciation of horseback riding as a healthy and wholesome form of recreation. 2. Learn horsemanship and an understanding of the business of breeding, raising and training horses. 3. Increase knowledge of safety precautions to prevent injury to themselves, others, and their mounts. 4. Promote greater love for animals and humane attitude toward them. 5. To be better prepared for citizenship responsibilities through working in groups and supporting community horse projects and activities. PROJECT COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS NOTE: Members are encouraged to attend the 4-H Horse & Pony Club meetings, workshops, and special activities. A. Enroll in the Marshall County 4-H Program by the published deadline. B. Enroll in the Horsemen Without A Horse project by published deadlines. C. Complete two of the three activities listed below for your grade: Grade 3 1. Safety Rules and Precautions 2. Glossary of Horse Terms 3. Parts of a Horse Grade 4 4. Breeds of Horses & Ponies 5. Colors and Markings of Horses 6. Gaits of Horses D. Do at least one of the following (Circle the activity you choose to complete) 1. Give at least one demonstration (team or individual) at a Horse & Pony or Horseman Without A Horse club meeting, relating to one of the topics above. 2. Go on a tour of a stable 3.
