4 Here are a few points to note when making entries into the 2019 Royal Bath & West Show. Exhibitors should be familiar with the full Terms & Conditions which can be found at All mounted persons on the showground to wear safety hats which conform to the current regulations. 12:00noon to 10:00pm 5:00am to 10:00pm from 5:00am Accommodation cannot be guaranteed until 5:00pm. Booking is from 5:00pm to 5:00pm the following day. It is the Exhibitors or Competitors responsibility to ensure that all the information provided is correct. Refunds will only be provided on production of a veterinary certificate. Levies included in the entry fee will not be refunded. Such certificates must be received by the Entries Office no more than 7 days after the last day of Show. Exhibitors must ensure the entry is registered with the appropriate breed society for the classes being entered and, where necessary, the Owner, Rider and Exhibitor. Winning exhibitors will be issued with a prize money voucher redeemable during the show. Vouchers not presented may be submitted to the Entries Office no later than 14 days after the last day of the Show together with bank details to enable payment via BACS. NO CHEQUES WILL BE ISSUED. Must be made in writing and submitted to the Horse Stewards Office within 30 minutes of the completion of the class and accompanied by a deposit of 50. Details of entries made will only be shared with breed societies and/or shows to confirm eligibility and/or qualification. Names and address will be printed in the catalogue and results displayed on the Show s web site. Breed societies will also provide and use some of your information. Please go to the relevant society s web page to view their policy as to how, when and why your details will be used. 3

13 The winner of each SHB Affiliated in hand class will qualify for The SHB(GB) Breeders Cup Championship to be held at the 2019 National Hunter Supreme Championship Show at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre on 3 & 4 July The winner of the Championship at The National Hunter Supreme Championship Show will receive 1,000 ( 500 to the Breeder and 500 to the Owner).. This show is a Qualifier for the Blue Chip & Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) 2,000 Challenge. The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each class will qualify for the Final which will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on August 2019 at Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincs NG32 2EF. A horse may only qualify for the Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each qualifier will receive a card and a 10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to complete a on line form at to inform the IDHS(GB) that they have qualified for the Final. In the Final, the Champion will be awarded 1,000, a trophy and a Blue Chip rug. The Reserve Champion will be awarded 500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be awarded 100 each. In addition, the highest placed Pure Bred Irish Draught will receive a trophy and 100, the highest placed 158cm (15.2hh) and under will receive a trophy and 50, the highest placed Sport Horse will receive a trophy and 50, and the highest placed *Amateur Produced and Ridden Horse will receive 50, a silver salver and a rug. This show is a Qualifier for The Moorbennhall Irish Draught Youngstock Challenge. The two highest placed Pure Breds from each age group not already qualified in Class H40 - yearlings, two year olds and three year olds - eligible for Class 1 on the Irish Draught Breed Register by an ID Class 1, ID Class 2 or RID (GB) sire out of a Graded dam will qualify to forward to the Final which will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 17 & 18 August 2019 at Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincs NG32 2EF. Each qualifier will receive a card. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form at to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final. In the Final, there will be three preliminary classes with the two highest placed semi-finalists from each class going forward to the Championship where the Champion will receive 500 and the Reserve Champion 150. This is a qualifying show for the final to be held on 7-8 September 2019 at Kings Equestrian Centre. Qualification is via Gold Card, which is awarded to the first and second prize winners in each class. Completed Cards should be returned within 10 days of the qualifying show with a cheque for 15, or returned before 20 August with a cheque for 30 to Arab Horse Society, Charnham Lane, Hungerford RG17 0EY. Cheques payable to The Arab Horse Society. The British Arabian Championship has classes for both in-hand and ridden purebred and partbred Arabians. Once a horse or pony has qualified for the 2019 Championships, they may enter any of the classes at the show. Schedules for the finals will be available from or the face group British Arabian Championships. All Horses and Ponies in the Ridden Championship classes at the final will be ridden by the Judge including under 14.2hh partbreds, where a small adult will be appointed. 12

15 Judges: Mr Allan Robertson Judging on: Friday HC1 The following class is a qualifier for the Cuddy Supreme In-Hand Championship, NEC, Birmingham, 2nd-6th October 2019 The objective of the competition is to find the supreme light horse or pony in-hand champion of the year, irrespective of breed or type (excluding heavy horses). The Champion horse or pony from the following classes will be eligible to compete, provided it has not already won a qualifying round in Hunter Breeding, Hack Breeding, Riding Horse Breeding, Sport Horse Breeding, Irish Draught Breeding, Riding Pony Breeding, Coloured Horse and Pony Breeding, Pure Bred Arab, Anglo-Arab or Part-Bred Arab, Connemara, Dales & Fell, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Highland, New Forest, Shetland (Miniature), Shetland (Standard), Welsh Mountain Pony (Section A), Welsh Pony (Section B), Welsh Pony (Cob Type) (Section C), Welsh Cob (Section D), Part Bred Welsh and Traditional Gypsy Cob. If the Champion has already qualified or is ineligible, then the Reserve Champion of that section may come forward, provided it has not already qualified and is eligible. If both Champion and Reserve Champion have already qualified or are ineligible then the section will not be represented in this qualifying round. Foal champions are not eligible. In the event of a horse/pony having been awarded more than one section Championship at this Show, that horse/pony will represent both/all sections and the qualification will not pass down to the Reserve in the 2nd and subsequent sections. There will be no direct entry into the Cuddy Supreme In-hand Championship Qualifier, all animals must be a section champion or reserve champion (as applicable). This is a Horse of the Year Show Qualifier, all data given upon entry is provided to Grandstand Media Limited and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show Office. The Winning Horse or Pony from each of the qualifying sections will be entitled to a free stable on the Showground if required to stay overnight. 14

16 Judges: Mr Martin Jones Judging on: Friday A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony owned by an NPS Qualifying or Life member in the M&M In Hand sections. The Sponsor's Rosette is also awarded to the pony receiving the qualification. To be judged under the rules of the NPS. NPS silver medal rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life Member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider's/handler's possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the Owner of the Champion Pony is not a Member, or the owner's membership card is not immediately produced the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the Qualification Card goes to the Reserve Champion Pony, provided the Owner of that pony is a Member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the Qualification Card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Rosette Championships. Sections eligible are: Connemara, Dales & Fell, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Highland, New Forest, Shetland (Miniature), Shetland (Standard), Welsh Mountain Pony (Section A), Welsh Pony (Section B), Welsh Pony (Cob Type) (Section C), Welsh Cob (Section D). HC2 NPS/Kilmannan Stud M&M In Hand Silver Medal Rosette Championship Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show 6-8 August

17 WEDNESDAY Judge: Mr Martin Davies ALL EXHIBITS MUST BE REGISTERED WITH SPORT HORSE BREEDING OF GREAT BRITAIN. ALL CLASSES WILL BE JUDGED UNDER SPORT HORSE BREEDING (GB) 2019 RULES. Horse of the Year Show This Show is a Horse of the Year Show Cuddy Supreme In-Hand Championship 2019 Qualifier. See Cuddy Qualifier page for details. Foal Champions are not eligible. The SHB(GB) Breeders Cup The winner of every SHB(GB) affiliated in hand class - Hunter Breeding, Light Horse Breeding and in Hand Sport Horses - held at shows prior to the 2019 Hunter Show, will qualify for The SHB(GB) Breeders Cup Championship. See Qualifier page for details. Exhibits may also enter in-hand Sport Horse Breeding classes. Class H1 Class H2 Class H3 Class H4 Class H5 Class H6 Class H7 HUNTER FILLY, COLT OR GELDING Yearling, foaled in HUNTER FILLY, COLT OR GELDING Two year old, foaled in HUNTER FILLY, COLT OR GELDING Three years old, foaled in SMALL HUNTER BROOD MARE Exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 158cms, with foal at foot or a relevant certificate of pregnancy which may be inspected at the show. Mares which have not yet foaled or that have lost their foals are eligible to enter with a relevant certificate of pregnancy for the following year that may be inspected at the Show. Mares will be measured on the day of the Show by the Show s veterinary officer. HUNTER FOAL Produce of mare shown in class H4. Foals must be at least three weeks old on the day of the Show. HUNTER BROOD MARE Exceeding 158cms, with foal at foot or a relevant certificate of pregnancy which may be inspected at the show. Mares which have not yet foaled or that have lost their foals are eligible to enter with a relevant certificate of pregnancy for the following year that may be inspected at the Show. HUNTER FOAL Produce of mare shown in class H6. Foals must be at least three weeks old on the day of the Show. 16

Reserve Champion - Royal Bath & West Reserve Champion Rosette. Winner: 2018 Cathy Wood & Mark Boyles For the Champion Hunter Breeding Youngstock 1st and 2nd prize winners from classes H1, H2, H3, H5 and H7 eligible. Royal Bath & West Champion Rosette and The Evans Bevan Perpetual Silver Challenge Cup (H2). Reserve Champion - Royal Bath & West Reserve Champion Rosette. Winner: 2018 Daphne Thorneycroft For the Best Entry in the Small Hunter Brood Mare class. The Violet Wellesley Perpetual Challenge Cup (H29) offered by Miss D M P Anthony. Brood Mare Premium Awards SHB(GB) - One offered in the Small Hunter Brood Mare class and one in the Hunter Brood Mare class. The premium will be awarded if there are a minimum of three mares forward per class. It will take the form of a Service Voucher, the value of which is to be determined from time to time by SHB(GB), awarded at the Judge's discretion to their selection from the monetary prize winners, to be used towards the cost of covering the mare by any SHB(GB) Graded Stallion or Life Approved Premium Stallion that is properly registered for the year of covering. The Service Voucher may be used in either of the two years following the year of award. The owner must be, or become, a fully paid up member of SHB(GB) in order to be eligible for the award. No mare shall take more than one award per year. NOTE: Grade I and II mares are eligible to be transferred into the SHB(GB) Stud Book HS2a Brood Mare Premium Awards Langaller Farm Brood Mare Premium awarded to the highest placed brood mare in the Hunter Brood Mare class and the Small Hunter Brood Mare class, redeemable again any stud fee for a stallion standing at stud at Langaller Farm during the current or following stud season. Where the mare has already won a voucher for the current year, the award goes to the next highest placed eligible mare. 19 WEDNESDAY This Challenge is open to everyone competing in the Hunter Breeding Classes at the Devon County, Royal Bath & West and Royal Cornwall Shows and who live in the South West Region comprising of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucester, Hampshire and Wiltshire. Points will be allocated in the Hunter Breeding Classes (classes H1 to H4 and H6) as follows: 1st - 10 points 2nd - 7 points 3rd - 5 points 4th - 3 points In the event of a tie, exhibiting history over the three shows would be taken into account. Where classes are combined, ie Colt, Gelding or Filly, points will be awarded for the highest placed Colt or Gelding and the highest placed Filly. Points will also be awarded for both Lightweight and Heavyweight Brood Mares (foals are not eligible for this award). Points will be accumulated by the horse rather than the owner. Class H20 CONCOURS D ELEGANCE Open to horses or ponies four years old or over. The sole criteria is the elegance of the picture presented by horse/pony and rider. Attention may be paid to the rider's personal appearance but a detailed inspection of rider or tack will not be required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. Competitors will be required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, although the judge may ask small groups of 3 or 4 to give short displays. HS11 SHB(GB) Premium SHB(GB) offers one premium in the Brood Mare class. The premium will be awarded if there are a minimum of three mares forward per class. It will take the form of a Service Voucher, the value of which is to be determined from time to time by SHB(GB), awarded at the Judge's discretion to their selection from the monetary prize winners, to be used towards the cost of covering the mare by any SHB(GB) Graded Stallion or Life Approved Premium Stallion that is properly registered for the year of covering. The Service Voucher may be used in either of the two years following the year of award. The owner must be, or become, a fully paid up member of SHB(GB) in order to be eligible for the award. No mare shall take more than one award per year. NOTE: Grade I and II mares are eligible to be transferred into the SHB(GB) Stud Book. 82 INTER HUNT TIMING: This is a timed competition. Competition to be run as a knock-out relay, with the three winning teams and the fastest losing team from Round 1 going forward to Round 2. The two remaining teams will jump off for 5th and 6th place. Time taken from start of first rider to the finish of the third rider. All competitors to go through Start/Finish. Riders to jump a course of jumps. Time is not added for refusals. Other rider to take over if necessary due to 3 refusals Only one whip to be carried per team. Whip to be carried throughout and passed on. FALLS & FAULTS: 5 seconds will be added to the time for a knockdown. Fall of horse will result in the team being eliminated. Fall of rider next rider to collect whip, and finish round. Fallen rider to leave the ring on foot and to be seen by the paramedics before taking any further part in the competition. The rider who drops the whip must pick it up again and continue. When handing the whip to the next team member, both riders must be mounted. In the event a rider is not mounted, a 10 second penalty will be added. 86 PRIVATE DRIVING ADDITIONAL REGULATIONS FOR PRIVATE DRIVING These regulations are supplementary to the Conditions & Regulations contained in the current Bath & West Shows Ltd Equine Schedule. No sulkys will be allowed onto the Showground or to take part in any class. The driver must be aged 10 years or over on the day of competition. Any driver under the age of 18 years must be accompanied in the vehicle by a competent and responsible person aged 18 years or over a 'responsible adult' (proof of age may be requested). It is the responsibility of the owner/driver, or if the driver is under 18 years the responsible adult, to ensure that groom(s) are competent for the purposes of attending to the turnout and aged 10 or over on the day of the show. When in the vehicle grooms, passenger/s and driver must have their feet firmly on the floor of the vehicle firmly on the floor of the vehicle or use a suitable fixed footrest. All drivers/grooms/passengers under the age of 14 years must wear a correctly fitted hard hat when in a carriage or in attendance to a turnout 85
