3 GENERAL RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY TO THE HORSE SHOW 1. The Committee reserves the right to refuse or cancel entry or entries made by any person, if they shall deem it fit to do so, without giving any reason for so doing, and the right to cancel any Class or Classes, refunding any fees paid in respect thereof. 2. Any abusive behavior towards stewards, judges or show helpers will NOT be tolerated and will lead to being exited from the Showground. 3. No prizes shall be awarded when, in the opinion of the Judges, there is not sufficient merit, and the Judges have the power to divide any prize. 4. No appeal can be made against the decision of the Judges, whose decision shall be final. The Judges have the right to disqualify any Competitor for abuse of whip or spurs, cruelty or discourteousness. 5. Only Officials and Competitors (and their grooms in Showing Classes as required) are allowed in the Judging Rings. 6. Any objections must be made in writing to the Secretary within half an hour of the event finishing, together with the sum of ten pounds - returnable at the discretion of the Committee. 7. No responsibility whatsoever is accepted by the Society, or any of its Officers or Servants, for any accident or loss on the Showground to spectators, competitors, their horses or property. All exhibitors must be covered by their own Public Liability insurance. 8. All Cups and Trophies having been won in 2017 must be returned to the Secretary by 1st July Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of any future cups being won. Should a named Cup or Trophy not be available for presentation the Society reserve the right to present another in its place or to withdraw the award? All Cups and Trophies are Perpetual unless otherwise stated. 9. Cancellation of an entry or entries by a competitor, exhibitor or trader after the 19th July 2017 will result in no refunding of any fees paid in respect thereof, with the exception of livestock who must produce a Veterinary Surgeon s certificate. 10. All dogs must be kept on leads (unless competing in appropriate classes/events). 11. The Society reserves the right to examine through one of the Veterinary Surgeons any animal showing signs of infection or contagious disease. If it is then thought necessary, the owner must remove the animal from the Showground immediately. Owners are advised to have had their animals vaccinated against Equine Flu. 12. Competitors are advised to acquaint themselves with the conditions of entry given for their relevant Classes. 13. Owners will be responsible for any costs for attention by the Veterinary Surgeons or Farriers on the field. 14. No pony or horse, under the age of four, should be entered in the Ridden Classes. 15. In the event of Classes running late we reserve the right to transfer Classes to unoccupied Rings, and use available judges. It is the competitor s responsibility to ensure that the classes they enter do not clash. 16. In the unlikely event of the cancellation, postponement or abandonment of the Show by the Executive Committee through circumstances beyond their control, refunds of fees will be made at the discretion of the Executive Committee. 17. Appropriate riding clothes should be worn and hard hats must be worn by anyone riding on the showground. Jumping riders must wear an approved hat, which includes a permanently fitted nondetachable harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Riding hats to be EN1384, ASTMF1163 or PAS 015, with kite mark. (Adults in classes 8a & 8b are exempt if they wish to wear top hats). We also advise back protectors be worn in all jumping classes. 18. Only one show entry ticket per exhibitor will be given, however extra tickets may be purchased at a lower rate. 19. To the best of our knowledge, all information & rules correct at time of schedule going to print. HORSE SHOW IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Times quoted are approximate only; but classes will not start before the time stated. Although every attempt will be made to adhere to these times, it may be necessary to move classes to another ring to keep to those times. It is the competitor s responsibility to listen to changes as announced and/or check with ring stewards. N.B. You do not need to be a member of any society to enter any of the classes at this show but where ponies are entered into a designated breed class that pony must be registered with that Breed Society. IMPORTANT INFORMATION SPECIAL PURCHASE SHOW TICKETS With your entry to the Horse Show you will receive one complimentary main show ticket per exhibitor. As a special offer you can buy show tickets at a reduced rate of 10 (usual price 12) with your pre-entry to the Horse Show. Please add the amount onto the bottom of the entry form, found in the centre of the schedule. You can, however, purchase a reduced rate ticket for 10 (usually 12) with your late entries to the Horse Show. 4 Safety: The organisers of this Show have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all the officials and stewards AT ALL TIMES! SUPREME CHAMPION All champions of the day are invited into Ring 3 to compete for the Supreme Champion THE VISCOUNT SOMERTON SALVER Winner will receive a Sash, rosette and 100 Reserve will receive a Rosette and 50 LOCAL CHAMPION OPEN ONLY TO THOSE WHO LIVE WITHIN THE POSTCODES BH24, BH31 & SP6. To be won by combination of horse/pony and rider with most points earned during the day. Points will be awarded: 1st - 10, 2nd - 8, 3rd - 6, 4th - 4, 5th - 2, 6th - 1 Those eligible must give their correct home address on their entry form and have a Local card (from Horse Sec) which they must get signed by the Judge or Steward at the time they win the points and they MUST wear a yellow armband during the Class. THE PETERS TROPHY and 50 to winner Generously Sponsored by: New Forest Jumps Please Note: There is no actual show class for the local champion, it works on points won throughout the day, so the more classes you enter, the more likely you are to win! A Local Rosette is also given to the highest placed local in every class. You must wear a yellow armband. Keeley Not before 12.30pm SIDE SADDLE CLASSES Class 11 VETERAN IN-HAND For Horses and ponies 17 years & over Please display animals age clearly WHITTLE CUP VETERAN CLASSES Class 8a: EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIP OPEN QUALIFYING CLASS Run under SSA Rules defined in the current Member s Handbook. Open to SSA Members and Non-Members. Members carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for SSA rosettes to 3rd Adult and 3rd Junior places and SSA Championship Points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed Member aged under 14 on 1st January of the current year. Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Stud Show Centre to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out. Juniors must wear Hats to current Safety Standard or above. THE ROSE BOWL Class 8b: BEST HORSE OR PONY RIDDEN SIDE SADDLE Open to horses and ponies 4 years old or over: conformation & manners will be taken Into consideration; horses/ponies will not be stripped. A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Adult and Junior Members of the SSA carrying their current Championship Points Cards. The Highest placed coloured exhibit (who has not already qualified) receives a Special Rosette and qualifiers for the Side Saddle Final at the CHAPS Championship Show. Open to any type of exhibit. Riders must be 16 or over. Riders/Owners need not be a member or their exhibit registered with CHAPS at the time of qualifications, but In order to compete at the Championships, the Rider/Owner must be a showing member and the horse/pony registered with CHAPS before entering the final. This is not a show class, but will be judged on the ability of the handler to show their animal. Conformation will not be taken into consideration. Once the Judge is satisfied he/she will call competitors into a provisional line up. Each competitor will come forward when indicated by the Judge for individual inspection and their individual show. The Judge will check safety and fit and fitting of harness. The individual show will consist of: - a 10 metre circle to the right at a trot - a 10 metre circle to the left at a walk (during these movements the handler should follow the donkey s path) - a slalom of 5 half circles (4 meter radius) alternate right and left (cones may be used; during this movement the donkey will travel in curves and the handler will travel a straight course - a halt for 10 seconds followed by a 4 pace rein back and a 4 pace walk forward - competitor will then salute the Judge and return to the line up from behind

20 The Judge will look for steady course, impulsion and crisp transitions. After each competitor has completed his/her individual show, at the Judge s indication all competitors should circle the ring in a clockwise direction to be called in for the final placing. Each donkey will wear a bit and bridle (open or blinkered), a driving pad or saddle, and long reins. Each competitor will carry a whip but over-use will be penalised. Ellingham & Ringwood Agricultural Society Sponsorship/Advertising CONDITIONS OF ENTRY IN DONKEY CLASSES 1. All male donkeys of one year and over must be dressed in bridle and bit with the leading rein attached to the bit. They must also be in the care of an adult handler and enter the Ring first. 2. No person may deliberately enter or show a donkey under a Judge who is known to be concerned with the breeding or selling or producing of that animal. 3. No nomination entries will be accepted. 4. Once judging has commenced a donkey may not be led or driven from the ring without the permission of the Judge. 5. No entire male donkey is allowed to compete in any Children s Classes except Driving. 6. Best Local Donkey Rosettes: owner to live within a 15-mile radius of Ellingham Cross. 7. Ridden Classes: Donkeys entered must be 4 years old or over and must have a correctly fitting bridle and saddle. All riders must wear an approved hard hat to conform to the current BSI standards. 28 Scarecrow Competition Sponsor Multi-Signs Entries for this competition will be judged at approximately 11.00am. It would be appreciated if scarecrows could be left on display until after the Grand Parade at approximately 3.30pm. Rules and Guidelines 1. Scarecrow need not look Scarecrowish, But the theme must be clear. 2. You may enter an individual scarecrow or a group as one entry. 3. FREE to enter but NO free passes will be issued. 4. Scarecrows must be brought to the Showground between 2pm and 8pm on Friday 11th August where they will be sited outside the horticulture tent. (Please note Scarecrows will NOT be covered over night) So please make sure they are somewhat waterproof just in case of rain! 5. Remember... The bigger the better and Have Fun! 6.
