2 HAVEN PARK Poll Dorset & BRUK BRUK East Friesian Haven Park Poll Dorset s were founded in 2007 with the purchase of the Loddonlea and Moss Vale ewes from dispersals and also Allendale and Armdale ewes in 2011 and Since then top stud sires have been used in the AI and natural mating programmes from leading studs such as Gloroy, Ulandi Park, Hillcroft Farms, Newbold, Hillden and Valma. *Ulandi Park 72/13 purchased at the 2014 Australasian Poll Dorset Championships for $8000. *Ulandi Park 75/15 purchased privately for $7500 from the Rowett Family, who used him in their own programme. 75/15 is a ram with great EMA but still retains massive growth traits, look for his sons to impress in 2018 sale draft. *Janmac 149/15 was purchased from the Hausler family at Janmac for top price in their 2016 onproperty sale, high growth ram with length of body and clean points Sale ram reference sires; H497: Hillcroft Farms 497/10 Purchased for $31k, used as an AI sire at Haven Park. U125: Ulandi Park 125/12 AI sire, open face and legs with length of loin. H1082: Hillcroft Farms 1082/07 Positive fats coupled with high EMA, the carcass ram. N65: Newbold 65/12 AI sire that again has fat, high EMA and growth. U196: Ulandi Park 196/12 Powerful son of Ulandi Park Length with power and clean face. G42: Gloroy 42/11 The proven sire who provides length, power and paper performance as well. Bruk Bruk East Friesians was founded in 2012 with the purchase of the top 70 East Friesian ewes from Prospect East Friesians and the top young stud ram 196/11. Since then some ewes have continued to be bred to pure East Friesian rams and some to Border Leicester stud sires from Coolawang and Inverbrackie. East Friesian sires have also been joined to stud Border Leicester ewes from a few different studs including Coolawang and Campaspe River to breed half-bred rams. The East Friesian/Border Leicester cross progeny are exceptional maternal producers with high fertility, great milking ability with extended lactation and a great fleece of wool. Some of these rams are in the TOP 1% across all breeds for their maternal weaning weight, meaning your ewe progeny give more milk = more growth = more money. If you combine these high weaning weights with increased fertility (180+% in studs in 2016 & 2017) you re on track for superior productivity! Reference sires of the 2017 EF/BL sale rams; C159: Coolawang 159/13 Great fleece, style and thickness. 8004: Inverbrackie 8004/12 Look for meaty carcass type rams and do ability in his sons. BB-8: Bruk Bruk 8/12 Triplet ram, very sound with great MCP+ index. BB-95: Bruk Bruk 95/14 Awesome maternal carcass ram with length of loin.

3 East Friesian/Border Leicester Breeding Objectives Fertile (180%+) Lamb survival Fast early growth Structural soundness Increased milk production and sound udder Maternal with meaty carcass Heavy fleece with character WWT: Weaning Weight (kg) - a high figure indicates early growth of lambs in the rams offspring, ensures suckers are heavy by 3 months old. PWWT: Post-weaning Weight (kg) - a high figure will ensure 7-8 month old lambs are well grown, eg. when joining of ewe lambs. PEMD: Eye Muscle depth (mm) - better muscled carcasses will have better yield which is important when marketing maternal wether lambs. PFAT: Fat depth (mm) Important for the replacement ewes to have some do-ability. MWWT: Maternal Weaning Weight (kg) - Higher figure is best, means rams daughters will produce a more maternal environment and more milk for their lambs, leading to more growth and more money. MCP+: Maternal Carcass Production+ index, higher figure is best and is used to determine how a ram will suit a self-replacing flock. Takes into account carcass traits, fast early growth, fertility, faecal egg counts and yearling greasy fleece weight.
