1 IHI Intensive Horsemanship Courses Have you ever wanted to 'work' in the Horse Industry? Would you like to study horses 'full time' for an exceptionally low cost? Do the courses you have looked at require you to already be a 'good' rider? Do you want to 'Fast Track' your progress with horses? Do you want to be SAFE on your Trail Rides? Do you want much better Competition Success? IHI now offers you a chance learn the best system, from a most progressive organisation and do it in the shortest possible time with NO prerequisites. The International Horsemans Institute was established in 2006, with Tony s long term vision to help change the Horse industry, one person at a time. Tony wants to help both those people in the industry and those entering the industry to be above all SAFE, and additionally be able to interact with horses in a manner which considers the horse and enhances the horse s life. In addition, Tony s hope is that any young person entering the Horse Industry, will be able to be paid a fair wage for their skills and knowledge. If this can all be achieved, the horse industry will be transformed and the horses will be safe, comfortable and emotionally calm; while the employees will be SAFE, knowledgeable, and able to enjoy reasonable rewards as well as so much more job satisfaction. As another step toward this vision, we are very excited to offer our Intensive (Vocational & Leisure) Horsemanship Courses in 2014 at Exceptionally Discounted Prices. The courses will be offered in line with our Dimensions 1 through 4 by full time attendance at IHI. A full time week will begin on Monday at 1pm each week and conclude at 5pm on the Thursday of that week, approximately 25 hours. These courses will be open to vocational students and leisure students who want to fast track their skills and knowledge will see all Dimension courses offered, providing you access to the Dimension(s) you wish to study at the time that is most convenient to you. You only need to call or Tony to discuss your requirements. How Much Lesson time will you get, I hear you ask.. Each week of the course delivers at least 12.5 hours of teaching face to face from Tony (for you and your horse) PLUS 12.5 hours of tutorial (this means you and your horse practice with guidance and support from Tony). What is each Dimension and How long will each take? Dimension 1 - Safety & Basic Skills - is your first milestone on the road to Horsemanship, this is the place to start. Dimension 1 will help you to understand your horse's language and will help you show your horse that you can communicate with him as a 'horse' both on the ground and in the saddle. This will be done by learning and using the IHI 7 Dance Steps. Today, so many people are able to enjoy the
2 beauty of working with, owning and riding horses yet do not necessarily have the generations of horse knowledge behind them that can keep them safe and secure around those horses. Horses really are very dangerous creatures when the human does not know how to be around, handle, motivate and respect a horse in a way that is 'natural' to that horse. A fearful or disrespectful horse (prey animal) can be very harmful to a novice or scared, reactive human (predator) as the two "beings" react and respond very differently, to the same situation. Dimension 1 is really about Safety & Basic Skills, it is aimed at providing you with the knowledge, tools and techniques to keep you and your horse safe, as well as the foundation for the following Dimensions. The Dimension 1 course will be delivered over 4 weeks and also include up to 2 weeks of Dimension 2. Dimension 2 Fun & Advancement - stretch the partnership and develop more communication to where your horse sees you as a leader so you can both expand your repertoire. You will introduce the "ring rope" to test and improve your horse's respect for you; as the distance between you increases so does the need for more and more respect. You will be able to ask your horse to go and come and circle you from a distance. You will, as part of Dimension 2, start the study of Liberty where the bond between you and your horse actually becomes stronger and more meaningful than that old lead rope. Your riding will start to be freer, with more control on the Casual rein, using a stick for support. You will really begin to understand and use your legs effectively and realize the power of your focus. You and your horse will really be having fun, not just Riding! The remaining section of Dimension 2 will then be delivered over 4 weeks. Dimension 3 & Harmony - As you progress through Dimension 3 you will find your horse begins to "put effort in" to doing the things you ask of him. We call this Positive Reflex, just like he would do for the Lead Mare of his herd. Your horse now sees you as the leader, you are able to do so much more with him with no rope attached, in fact now he will trot to you and stand quietly waiting with you until you signal a change of plan. Just imagine, having a horse stand still, not being tied, not being held, to have the saddle placed on his back and done up. How about a horse who will go into the float while you sit on the mudguard or send him on from a long distance!!
3 How would like to be able to ride your horse with just a stick for direction and control and be able to do drop-to-trot canter lead changes? Dimension 3 will delve into the emotional issues faced by a large number of horse people around the idea of Impulsion. To be correct, most horses and a good many people are actually "impulsive". Just to clarify, Impulsion is "Controlled forward (or any direction) energy". Most times a horse walks, trots or runs away with people, ie. they go faster than a person wants them too, and in reality often times, the horse is actually scared too, but they just don't know how to get their emotions under control. Dimension 3 will give you the strategies and tools to build both, your emotions and your horse's emotions, to where you are both fit and controlled in your manoeuvres - so gallop, canter or trot are not a "live or die" event. Once you achieve Dimension 3 you will no longer be a person who 'owns' a horse, rather you and your horse will be a Partnership that thousands of people only dream of. You will "feel for" your horse and your horse will "feel for" you so that you are together at all gaits, on the ground or in the saddle. You will be in harmony and ready to go on and build a close contact that very soon only you and your horse will be able to perceive the subtle signals between you. Dimension 3 is delivered over 10 weeks. Dimension 4 - Results & Refinement - Now you and your horse are really starting to look great together and showing a true bond between the both of you. Dimension 4 is aimed at achieving excellent results along with refining the signals and cues (the communication) between you both. Dimension 4 is very much aimed at consolidating your skills and applying them in a more refined manner as well as 'upping the anti' with longer ropes, larger areas, greater challenges and more advanced maneuvers. You and your horse are going to have such an solid bond that you will wonder why you didn't embrace this program earlier, however, don't be too hard on yourself, because until you experience Dimension 4 'magic' you just do not know how good Horsemanship can be. You will be able to ride your horse bareback and bridle-less if you want. You will be able to ask your horse to run into the float, and he WILL. You will be able to have your horse canter around you at Liberty and then execute a Flying Change as he changes direction! You will also be able to ride with a close contact, communication by feel, and be able to ride at a trot and canter performing lateral maneuvers, rein backs, and Flying Changes!
4 If you want a bond with your horse, if you ever dreamed of riding free like the "Black Stallion" or in contact like the Spanish Riding School, or maybe racing after a cow like the 'cowboys' Dimension 4 should be your minimum! If you want to compete with your horse in any discipline, Dimension 4 as your minimum would be a huge advantage to you. In achieving Dimension 4, you will be truly on the footsteps to Horsemanship. Your foundation will be solid and your understanding great, giving you the ability to go out and expand your knowledge, techniques, skills and experience by applying your knowledge, techniques, skills and experience to more and different horses. Dimension 4 will be delivered over 20 weeks. A note about the delivery times This provides the student with plenty of time for learning and practicing, over 3 ½ days per week, plus allows time for those needing to travel on the weekend. The times are accurate for delivery of the courses, however achievement of a Certificate for each Dimension is solely dependent on the students ability to demonstrate their competency for each Dimension Now the big one How much will all this COST??? The Full Tuition Fee is $ per week BUT.. For 2014 a very special price is offered, with massive savings for you. We will offer the weekly price at NOT $650, NOT $550, NOT even $450 The Weekly Tuition cost for each Dimension is JUST $400.00* That is 25 hours per week for only $ (that is just $16.00 per Hour) (please note: if you are on the Personal Coaching Program for at least 3 months, you will receive a whopping $ per week discount, ie you only pay $300.00* per Intensive Week, so joining the Personal Coaching Program is well worth it, click here to download the flyer now!) In fact this price is almost 2 times the value of a weekend course. A 2 day weekend course is $ for around 12 hours of tuition, which equates to around $33.25 per hour So, all you need to do is book into the course which is most appropriate for you (generally the Dimension 1 course), pay your deposit and then get yourself to IHI for the start of your Career in Horses. Don t delay, book today, contact IHI at ihi@bordernet.com.au or call or phone
