3 SHOWING RING 1 Starts 9.00am Classes 15 & 16 are Training classes with The Showing Register. Classes are open to everyone (members and non-members of TSR) and the judge/trainer will give feedback to the exhibitor during the class. Each class will be run on the following format: Enter the ring and go round as a class, line up in any order. Trainer/judge will watch and give feed back on individual shows, presentation, in hand technique etc. See Show Information at end of schedule for full details. Riders/handlers must be amateurs. 8 SHOWING RING 4 Starts 9:30am Qualifiers for Equifest (EqF), Chiltern & Thames Rider (C&T), Sunshine Tour (ST) & The Showing Register (TSR) Class 69 Nursery Stakes Working Hunter Pony (ST & C&T) Nursery Stakes, ponies not exceeding 138cms. Rider not to have attained their 14 th birthday before 1 st Jan Fences 50-60cm. Class 70 Training Stakes - Working Hunter Pony A, B & C Working hunter pony, stallion, mare and gelding, 4 years & over, not exceeding 153cm. Rider any age. These classes are designed to encourage the horse/pony and rider to perform stylishly. Riders may enter more than one section. Jumps A: 60cm B: 70cm C: 80cm Method of Judging: Horse/ponies will enter the ring individually and jump a course of obstacles designed to produce a maximum of 10 jumping efforts. Each jumping effort will be marked out of 10 at the judge s discretion. There is no set penalty for a pole down or run out but three refusals will result in elimination. Fall of horse or rider will result in elimination. No mark awarded for conformation or manners, but a mark will be awarded for overall impression at the completion of each round. In the event of a tie, the overall impression mark will determine the final placings. Should there still be an equality of marks, the jumping marks will be taken into consideration comparison with fence one and continuing thereafter until a result is achieved. Class 71 Novice & Newcomer Working Hunter Pony (ST, C&T & TSR) Open to ponies not exceeding 153cm, 4 years old or over not to have won any Open Working Hunter Pony class. Martingales are allowed and bit need not be a snaffle. Section 1 - round of 60-65cm natural/ rustic jumps. Each competitor will go individually, boots/bandages are allowed. Section 2 - competitors return to the ring (at judge s discretion) and will show walk, trot and canter (canter should include some extended canter), then the judge will inspect each horse. No boots/bandages (on horses!) in 2nd section. Trot up section will be at judge s discretion on the day. Class 72 Mountain & Moorland Working Hunter Pony (EqF, C&T, ST & TSR) A, B, C & Nedz /Equifest M&M Working Hunter Ponies D Open Mountain & Moorland WHP, Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 year old & over. Rider any age. These classes are designed to encourage the horse/pony and rider to perform stylishly. Riders may enter more than one section. Jumps A: 60cm B: 70cm C: 80cm Method of Judging: Horse/ponies will enter the ring individually and jump a course of obstacles designed to produce a maximum of 10 jumping efforts. Each jumping effort will be marked out of 10 at the judge s discretion. There is no set penalty for a pole down or run out but three refusals will result in elimination. Fall of horse or rider will result in elimination. No mark awarded for conformation or manners, but a mark will be awarded for overall impression at the completion of each round. In the event of a tie, the overall impression mark will determine the final placings. Should there still be an equality of marks, the jumping marks will be taken into consideration comparison with fence one and continuing thereafter until a result is achieved. Newcomer Working Hunter (ST, C&T & TSR) Open to horses 148cm and over, 4 years old or over not to have previously won any Open Working Hunter class. Martingales are allowed and bit need not be a snaffle. Section 1 - round of 75-80cm natural/ rustic jumps. Each competitor will go individually, boots/bandages are allowed. Section 2 - competitors return to the ring (at judge s discretion) and will show walk, trot and canter (canter should include some extended canter), then the judge will inspect each horse. No boots/bandages (on horses!) in 2nd section. Trot up section / judge riding will be at judge s discretion on the day. Qualify and enter ANY of the Finals Central, East Anglia, North West, North East, South East, South, Wales & South West or Scottish. You do not have to be a TSR member to qualify or enter a final. The Rider/ Handler qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of finals! TSR Riders Finals - 1st & 2nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring. TSR In Hand Finals - The two highest placed Handlers with a TSR In Hand Card will qualify in any In Hand class. Handlers MUST have their cards signed in the ring by the judge/steward, cards are available FREE from the TSR website. 10 Great Bookham Show 22 April 2018 Coloured Horse & Pony Society (CHAPS) This show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Affiliation no Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However in order to qualify both owner and rider/exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid qualifiers card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held on 30th August - 1st September Shows held on or after the Postal Entry closing date of Championship Show will count as 2019 qualifiers. The following classes are CHAPS (UK) qualifiers: Classes 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 22, 30, 33, 36, 37, 38 & 40. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members Handbook; or visit for rulings. Only skewbalds/piebalds may compete in these classes. All stallions 4 years old & over entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS (UK). All stallions must wear Stallion ID Discs in the ring without exception. Chiltern & Thames Rider (C&T) Showing - Riders must buy their membership numbers from C&T Rider prior to the competition, riders who do not have a membership number will not qualify. 1 st and 2nd places qualify, however, if those places do not have a membership number then qualification can pass down the line as far as 5th place. Championships will be held at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre on Saturday 1st September Horses and ponies who have qualified for or competed at HOYS (except SEIB Search for a Star and TSR HOYS Showing Master Class ) in the years 2015, 2016 or 2017 are not eligible for the C&T Rider Showing Championships. RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY By entering any event at GBEC, participants are deemed to have agreed to abide by these rules: 1. The organisers of these events have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the organisers / instructors. 2. Participants, or their parents/guardians, must consider themselves competent to complete the activity for which they are entering. If the judge deems any rider or horse to be unsuitable/unsafe to participate they will be asked to leave immediately and no refund will be given. 3. All persons under the age of 16 years must be accompanied and supervised by a parent/guardian. 4. Vet & Farrier - Mayes & Scrine Equine Veterinary Practice & Jake Gregory Farrier Services are on call for these events. Fees payable at time of visit. 5. Great Bookham Shows & Events, their representatives or helpers do not accept liability for injury, damage or loss suffered by spectators, competitors, their horses, grooms, friends, vehicles or property however caused under any circumstances except proven negligence of the organisers. 6. Correctly fitting riding hat complying with current safety standards, and safe footwear must be worn whilst mounted. Body protectors are strongly recommended. 7. Horses must be 4 years old or over to be eligible to compete in ridden classes. Animals deemed to be sick or lame will not be allowed to compete or be ridden on the showground and a refund will not be given. Stallions are welcome provided they are displaying appropriate tail ribbons, are well behaved and not causing a nuisance or danger to other competitors or their horses. 8. Qualification for championships may be subject to further verification including supplying of documentation to prove age / name / competitive status of rider or horse and / or investigation into previous winnings / placings / membership / performance. 9. We reserve the right to cancel or alter any part or the whole of the schedule at any time. Details given in the schedule are correct at time of printing but may subsequently be altered. 10. The judge s decision is final. Any objections must be brought to the organiser s attention on the day of competition and we will make every effort to resolve problems. Formal objections should be lodged with the secretary within 30 minutes of the incident. 11. Withdrawals: Competitors withdrawing before entry closing date may transfer to another event. A vet s or doctor s certificate may be required for a refund of entry fees (less small admin fee). 12. If weather or ground conditions are poor it is the responsibility of competitors to confirm that events are running by ringing or checking the evening before (after 6pm) or morning of each competition. Every effort will be made to re-schedule, but in the event of a competition being cancelled, entry fees minus a small administration charge will be refunded. 13. It is the responsibility of all participants to clear up their rubbish and debris and leave the showground fit for grazing. Please do not leave your rubbish behind on the showground. 14. All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. Owners who allow their dogs to run loose on the showground will be required to remove them from the premises immediately. 15.
