2 FOREWORD This most genuine dispersal of this Entire Herd on behalf of Ian Ball and Family results from Ian s decision to cease dairy farming due to health reasons. The sale comprises 80 Cows and Heifers In-milk and In-calf together with 12 In-calf and served heifers and 27 youngstock. The herd was established back in 2011 and Ian has been a great advocate of cross breeding. The herd today contains a large proportion of Fleckvieh and Norwegian Red cross. Calving pattern has been a 50% split of Autumn and Spring calving and as a result there is a good proportion of animals either freshly calved or close to calving on sale day. The herd is cubicle housed and milked via a herringbone parlour with management based on a low input system of grass silage, fodder beet with concentrates fed in the parlour. Purchasers should note that the farm lies towards 1000 feet above sea level so there is great potential for these animals to improve. The most recent bulk sample shows an excellent milk quality of 4.03%F 3.41%P cc90 This is a really genuine herd of lasting cows that will be sure to do good wherever they go and should be of particular interest to the grazing system and cross breeding man. Attendance and inspection is thoroughly recommended on Tuesday 27 th March.

3 GENERAL NOTES Directions to Leek Market From Leek Town Centre take the A520 Cheddleton Road. At the first set of traffic lights turn right into Junction Road. Proceed through the houses and the entrance to the Market lies on the left hand side just before the Pride of the Moorlands Public House. The Market is clearly sign posted on the A53 Newcastle to Leek Road and the A520 Leek to Cheddleton Road. Method of Sale All cattle will be sold in the pound and settlement of all accounts shall be made in full immediately at the close of sale. The herd will be sold under Farm Sale Rules a copy of which can be obtained from the Auctioneers. Refreshments Refreshments will be available from the Leek Market Cafeteria. Cheques/Payment Intending Purchasers not known to the Auctioneers must produce, prior to bidding, an acceptable Banker s Reference. Under new regulations introduced by the Banks, such references are now obtainable by the Bank s customers themselves and have to be obtained by them direct from their Bank. Unless an acceptable Banker s Reference is produced Payment is strictly Cash. Persons unknown to the Auctioneers and who pay by cheque will have their goods impounded until cheques have cleared and the Auctioneers reserve the right to refuse the bid of any potential unknown customer. The herd has been screened for Johnes. Dry Cows All Dry Cows have been tubed with Ubro Red and Orbeseal.
