Top genetics and top management practices are being rewarded today more than ever. With today s prices, it s rewarding to see customers receiving significantly larger pay checks for their work because they have an extra 50 lbs. or more to sell and an extra few cents per lb. for having muscular, solid colored, cross-bred calves. Disciplined crossbreeding programs work, and work best when a crossbred cow is in production and can be maintained in a maternal-driven crossbreeding scenario. The Meat Animal Research Center continues to document the Gelbvieh cow as the most efficient cow in the industry from a pounds of weaned calf per cow exposed in addition to having the most economical cow size. Add in the extra muscle and performance advantage of Gelbvieh and you can have extra pounds to sell and the best replacement females in the industry. Despite the recent price adjustments on feeder and fat cattle this spring, these are truly exciting times to be in the cattle business. We are proud of and take seriously our part of supplying the genetic input portion of the total profit equation for our customers. Value-based marketing has been the buzz phrase for many years in the industry. It s rewarding to see our customers receiving record prices and profits for their efforts and management practices. This year s sale offering is really strong. The cows selling truly represent over 25 years of relentless culling and selection pressure. The bulls are a tremendous group, and are loaded from top to bottom in both the Purebred and Balancer group. There are several new sire groups to choose from this year and some of our most proven genetics sell in volume sire groups. Nearly 600 cows and many AI and ET matings are involved in producing the bulls selling and they reflect that level of culling and commitment. You ll notice many ET produced bulls. We have chosen this route to increase our bull numbers slightly rather than lower our standards at the other end. We are proud of each and every bull selling, and all are expected to have a positive impact on their new owners program. As in the past, we have bulls from our cooperator herds: Meadowlark Gelbvieh, Dawson Creek Gelbvieh, Twin Oak Gelbvieh, and Stucky Beef Genetics. The addition of cooperative herds has allowed us to increase selection pressure placed on bulls as well as offer more bulls. We share in the income from these bulls, and they are represented and guaranteed just like our bulls. 4 Terms The terms of the sale are cash. Animals are to be paid for during or immediately following the sale. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. We have made every effort to provide as complete and accurate information as possible. However, announcements from the auction stand will take precedence over information printed in the catalog. Bidding Any disputes or challenges regarding bids shall be settled by the auctioneer, and his decision shall be final. Mail or telephone bids will be handled with strictest of confidence. Semen Check & Guarantee Each bull is guaranteed to settle healthy, fertile females and has been semen tested. Should any bull be claimed a non-breeder, the recommendation of the American Gelbvieh Association will apply. However, this does not preclude us from making adjustments that are mutually beneficial to both parties. First Breeding Season Guarantee If any bull purchased in the Cowman s Kind Sale or privately from Post Rock dies or is disabled during the first 90 days following first turn out of a young bull, the following guarantee will apply. If your young bull is temporarily unable to complete the breeding season, if possible, Post Rock will provide you with a loaner bull without cost to you other than transportation of the bull from and back to Post Rock. If your bull becomes permanently disabled, Post Rock will allow full credit ($5000 Maximum) toward the purchase of one bull in the next Post Rock sale. Post Rock will receive the salvage value of the injured bull. Should the bull you purchase cost more than your credit you pay the difference. If he costs less, no further credit is due to you. The above warranty is for bulls used in a single sire breeding pasture. If two or more bulls are used in a breeding pasture the warrant is reduced to 50% of the initial purchase cost. If your bull dies within the first 90 days Post Rock will credit you with 50% of the purchase price and provide a loaner bull if available at no cost. If you have a problem, please notify us as soon as possible since we try to keep a few bulls available in case your new Post Rock bull is disabled during the first breeding season. Liability All persons attending the Cowman s Kind Sale do so at their own risk. The sale sponsors, sale manager and/or any other seller assumes no liability for accidents, theft or damages done during this even on site of Post Rock Cattle Company. TERMS & CONDITIONS Female Lots Please make arrangements to pickup all female lots within one week of the sale date. If you want Post Rock to deliver female lots delivery prices will apply. Up to 100 miles $75.00 per lot, 101 to 300 miles $ per lot, 301 to 500 miles $200 per lot and over 501 miles $ per lot. BULL Free Delivery or Free Care Until May 1 You may select your choice of the following delivery options for your bull purchases: Option 1-Haul your bull sale day and we will deduct $75 per bull. We will assist you in loading out immediately following the sale. Option 2-We will care for your bulls free of charge but at the purchaser s risk and you pick them up any time prior to May 1. Bulls remaining at Post Rock after May 1 will be charged $2.50 per head per day. Option 3-We will deliver bulls free of charge up to 300 miles with additional miles prorated per head and that cost will not exceed $250 per lot. Purchases totaling $20,000 or more will be delivered free of charge to an individual ranch or to a central location within your state on group purchases. For animals that we deliver you are encouraged purchase individual animal insurance that will be available sale day at the rate of 4% of the purchase price for 6 months coverage. Other rates apply for longer or shorter insured periods. Inquire at the clerks table. Registration Certificates Registration certificates will be transferred on all sale lots at the seller s expense, except for those marked as unregistered or announced otherwise. Sight Unseen Purchases If you are unable to attend the sale, a bull can be purchased for you on order during the auction. Please call either Bill or Leland in advance of the sale and discuss with us the price range and the type of bull you are looking for, and we will recommend the bull or bulls that will fit your needs. If you don t like the bull when he is delivered to your place, he s not yours; and the money paid will be refunded. If the bull can be purchased for less than your maximum bid, you get the bull for the amount he left the ring at, just as if you were bidding for yourself. Each year, breeders take advantage of this free service. Call if you would like more information or a reference. For sight unseen satisfaction guarantees, you must purchase an animal that either Bill or Leland have previously recommended to fit your needs. Mortality Insurance Insurance will be available on sale day at the rate of 4% of the purchase price for 6 months coverage. Other rates apply for longer or shorter insured periods. Inquire at the clerks table. Trich Testing Many states have new rules for trich testing and none of the sale bulls have been tested. Should a Trich Test be required Post Rock will pay costs involved and complete the testing requirements soon following the sale. TELE-AUCTION AVAILABLE Post Rock is located in a very poor cell phone reception area and we encourage you to utilize this service. If you will be unable to attend the sale, you can do your own bidding via a conference telephone hook up that will connect you to ringside for the sale. You will be able to listen to the sale in progress, talk directly to our ringside representative and bid. Buyers interested in the option should call Bill prior to sale day at You will be given the phone number and pass code to join the tele-auction and assigned a bidder number with which to do your bidding. Your only cost will be your normal long distance charges, charged by your long distance carrier. This would work well if you have looked at the sale offering prior to sale day and for sight unseen purchases.

5 FALL BULLS The fall bulls were weaned April 29 after being raised on their dams on milo stocks or native pasture with sorghum silage, DDG, and ammoniated wheat straw and received no creep feed. After weaning, the bulls were raised on a rotational grazing system on sedan grass with supplementation of Purina Feeds Accuration and 8 lbs. of corn per day. On 10/23/14, they were switched to a ration of sorghum silage, wet distillers, 1 lb. of corn per 100 lbs. of body weight, ammoniated wheat straw, and grinding-quality alfalfa hay. SPRING BULLS Spring bulls were raised on their dams on native pasture and received no creep. They were weaned August 25 and were placed on a gain test on 10/23/14 through 1/27/15 on a ration of sorghum silage, wet distillers, 1 lb. of corn per 100 lbs. of body weight, ammoniated wheat straw, grinding quality alfalfa hay, and a vitamin mineral pack on a ration designed for 3.25 pounds of gain per day. ULTRASOUND All bulls selling were ultrasound-measured on 1/27/15. The spring bulls were ratioed in as large of contemporary groups as possible for the purebred and balancer groups. However, bulls from time to time were not in a contemporary group and therefore don t have a ratio only an actual measurement. This data was collected by a CUP certified technician, and all data was submitted to the AGA. The fall bulls were too old for data submission, and all data is actual measurements collected by the same certified technician but was a cute side reading only. The Purebred and Balancer groups were ratioed against each other in their respective groups. It s interesting to note that the purebred group had an average scan weight of 1428, average rib eye measurement, and a 2.42 marbling score. The balancer group had a 1440 average scan weight, a average rib eye, and a 2.61 marbling score. Note the purebreds had 2.44 average rib eye advantage and an average rib eye of 1.18 per 100 lbs., well above the industry ABOUT THE SALE CATTLE average of 1 per 100 lbs. and the industry goal of 1.1 per 100 lbs. of body weight with nearly the same marbling score and same scan weight while being fed the same ration for their entire lifetime. Just food for thought. SALE COWS As in the past, our sale group of females includes all our sound six year olds and approximately 20 two year old heifers, most with calves at side. This year s sale group is really strong and includes more top-end cows and is from top to bottom our strongest, most consistent group to date. In my mind, there are at least six cows that deserve to be in donor programs and they have earned that right from their exceptional production. In addition, there are more cows that every ranch needs more of. Cows that get bred every year bring in a calf in the top half of their contemporary group and have high quality udders and the added look and eye appeal we demand. The two year old sale heifers are selected as a cross-section of our two year olds. Any cow that has at least two daughters in the herd that has an additional daughter is available as a sale heifer as well as any heifer that we have a large number of from their cow family and sire group. These two year olds are handled exactly like the heifers we retained and haven t received any additional supplementation to fatten them up for the sale. We feed no grain to our heifers after weaning only ammoniated wheat straw, sorghum silage, wet distillers, and grinding quality alfalfa hay. Three weeks prior to AI, as virgin heifers, they receive 2 lbs. of corn for flushing them up for AI breeding, and this is the only grain they ever receive during their development. The calving dues dates listed in the catalog are an estimate based on how many months the vet felt each female was pregnant at preg. check time. They are only an estimate and provided to give you an idea of when a cow might calve and are not a guarantee that a cow will calve by that date. Feeder Profit Index (FPI) An economic selection index designed to aid producers in selecting sires whose progeny will perform in the feedlot and are sold on grade and yield. Well ranking sires for FPI have higher marbling and carcass weight than their contemporaries. As a terminal index, little emphasis is put on maternal traits such as stayability and calving ease.

Powerbuilt is an unique and special breeding piece. He was one of the most admired bulls we have ever taken to Denver and was the choice of many who viewed him on the Hill. He reminds me so much of his sire when we purchased him that it s almost eerie. His genomic enhanced EPDs rank him in the top 15% calving ease, 20% low birth and yearling weight, and 30% WW. His individual data and ultrasound data are equally impressive with a 16 actual rib eye (15.97 adj.), 3.10 IMF (3.089 adj.) with a 1274 lb. scan weight. This puts him at an impressive 1.26 of rib eye per 100 lbs. of body weight, well ahead of the 1.1 goal. Since he was weaned two weeks prior to the rest of the bull calves and fed for Denver, his ultrasound data was ratio d only against the other three bulls in his contemporary group. The group average of all the spring purebred and 3/4 bulls was rib eye and 2.8 marbling score. His dam is a first calf heifer who was a flush sister to Meredith s 2013 Denver Reserve Champion female who is pictured. There were five females in this flush, and four of the five, including Powerbuilt s dam, were outstanding and could have just as easily have been shown. Powerbuilt s granddam is none other than Post Rock Silver s dam, and she is an own daughter of Post Rock Wilma 147H2. They represent as strong a cow line with as much muscle, rib shape, and eye appeal as any in the Gelbvieh breed. We believe Powerbuilt is a game changer in the breed, and we plan to use him heavily in our AI and ET programs. Selling full possession and ½ semen interest with the new buyer having choice as to if and when semen is sold. However, we do retain the right to use up to 250 straws in herd use only if the buyer elects not to sell semen. We will be an active partner and will pay ½ of the mutually agreed upon expenses and promotional effort. page 4
