3 WESTERN DRESSAGE RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR WDAA SHOW MANAGER: Liz Molloy (770) RECOGNITION: WDAA, USEF. AWARDS: Six ribbons per class. Classes will be pinned separately for Youth, Amateur and Open. ALL AMATEURS MUST have current card with USEF. CLOSING DATE: Complete Packet needs to be in Secretary s hand by closing date. No Exceptions! Partial entries received after closing date subject to late fee. RIDE TIMES: Ride times will be available Thursday before each show. TESTS: Western Dressage Intro, Basic, Level 1, Level 2 & Level 3. ARENAS: Introductory and Basic Levels will be ridden in Small dressage arena (20n x 40m). Levels 1, 2 & 3 will be ridden in the Standard dressage arena (20m x 60m). Tests may be called. Tests will be ridden in Ring 10. Warm Up, is set up in the Rings 9, &10. The entire area is surfaced with sand, all-weather footing that drains quickly in inclement weather. Schooling within the sides of competition arenas will be allowed on day before show. The USEF Steward must be in place 30 minutes prior when schooling begins. ENTRIES: Entry Form, Payment, Current coggins within 12 months of show date, GDCTA Release. All accepted entries are responsible for all fees. Mail Entries: to AYDC 6715 Pirkle Dr. Cumming, GA Incomplete entries after the closing date are subject to $30 late fee. Late entries accepted at discretion of Show Secretary. NON-COMPETE HORSES: Must fill out entry form with signatures; Pay Stabling/Trailer In fee and Office fee. These horses must wear assigned bridle numbers. FEES: Flat entry fee $195 includes 3 dressage tests & STALL & OFFICE fees. Additional dressage tests for Flat Fee participants $35 each. Ala Carte Entries: Office Fee $30, Dressage Tests $50. Stabling $55 (Includes 2 bags of shavings.) RETURNED CHECKS: A $35 fee will be levied against any competitor whose check is returned from the bank (O.C. GA ). PAYMENTS: Are $ are due with entry. ed entries must provide a credit card or Pay Pal. Checks payable to Atlanta Youth Dressage Challenge (AYDC). PayPal to Missliz@TaramiaRidingSchool.com $10 EFT Fee for PayPal, Visa/Mastercard; POST ENTRIES/SUBSTITUTIONS: Entries after closing date are post entries and subject to a $20.00 post entry fee. Rider or horse substitutions are allowed, but require a new entry and $10 change fee. All other fees are transferred from the original entry. REFUNDS: Scratches given in writing by Closing Date: Full refund less office fee. After Closing Date, no refunds for any reason. STABLING: Stabling is mandatory & is $65 for day/overnight. Please write your stabling requests (one name per group) on a Sticky Note or separate sheet and attach to entry form with map for large groups. The stalls have interlocking stall mats. We will be in Barn 5. All stalls have electricity, running water and steel doors. The dimensions of stalls in Barns 5 are 11 x12; Your stall assignments will be posted on the Barn. Those wishing to stay over an extra night (Monday) must include an extra $35 stabling fee. Farm animals are not allowed at the show. Tack stalls: $30. Night check available per request $10. BEDDING AND GOLF CARTS: Queen Products now offers Curley shavings which may be purchased by calling Avery Harper at , or queensalesgihp@gmail.com. Each stall comes with two bags of regular shavings. Straw bedding is not allowed exceptions made only upon payment of an additional $20 clean-up fee. Queen Wood Products also sells feed and rents golf carts. FARRIER/VET BUILDING is located near Barn 5, next to the building that houses the Queen Wood Products shavings office. Please tell the vet or farrier about this facility so that you can meet them there. WHIPS: No whips longer than 47.2 inches (120 cm) in length including lash allowed in test OR Warm up. DRESS: Suitable western hat; Long-sleeved shirt with any type of collar; short sleeves may be worn at the discretion of the judge. Trousers, pants, a one-piece long sleeved equitation suit provided it includes a collar. Boots. Optional Attire may include: Necktie,

4 kerchief, bolo tie, or pin. Vest, jacket, coat, and/or sweater. Spurs of Western or English style. Western spurs with rowels must not have sharp tines. Chaps, shotgun chaps, or chinks. Protective headgear is acceptable; not required to be of western style. TACK: Please refer to rules found here: EQUPMENT INSPECTION: Once the exhibitor leaves the arena, the exhibitor must remain mounted until they reach the C2 Steward or equipment inspector. At that time, the exhibitor will dismount for the equipment inspection. Competitors will be asked to drop the bridle of the horse, removing the bit to below the mouth of the horse. A metal detector and/ or magnet may be used to detect the presence of the metal in nosebands. Random pulling of leg wraps will also occur at this time. See also WD119. EMERGENCY NUMBERS: In case of emergency, call 911 or call the show manager at (770) The numbers of the show s veterinarian and farriers are published on the front of the show program and in prominent places at the facility. DIRECTIONS: Take Exit 82 from I-20. Turn North. The Georgia International Horse Park (GIHP), 1996 Centennial Olympic Parkway, Conyers, GA 30013, is located about 4 miles north of I-20 on GA Hwy. 138 (Exit 82). Centennial Olympic Parkway is on the right. Follow signs to main entrance on right. Trailers should take the third (most direct) park entrance Gate D. Stabling uses Barn 5. Trailer/RV hookups will be on the left at end of RV lots. Show manager s cell phone: (770) HOTELS: Hawthorn Suites Hotel 1659 Centennial Olympic Parkway, Conyers, GA 30013, (across from the park). They offer suites complete with mini-kitchen and separate bedroom. Tell them you are with AYDC and ask for Horse Show Rate. Other hotels: Days Inn at ; Hampton Inn RV HOOK UPS Camper and RV hook-ups are available at $35 per night. There is a camper lot next to Barn 6. It has everything except sewer connections COMPETITION BRIDLE NUMBERS: Show management requires that every horse on the grounds wear his/her competition number on the left side while the horse is out of his stall. This is mandatory! THE SHOW OFFICE is in Barn 5 Day Before Show only from 2 to 6 p.m. Call show manager at (770) if you need assistance before or after then. Stalls will be unlocked for late arrivals. During the show, the office will be open from 7 a.m. till the show ends each competition day. DOGS MUST BE LEASHED ON A LINE NO LONGER THAN SIX FEET. NO LOOSE DOGS!! Dogs are not permitted to be loose on competition grounds and must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet or otherwise contained. Individuals must not lead dogs on a leash while mounted. Dog owners failing to comply with this rule may be subject to penalty under Chapters 6 and 7, as well as issuance of warning cards. GR MOTORIZED VEHICLES: Minors who do not have a valid driver s license, which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside, will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Rule 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. GR THE COMPETITION committee reserves the right to refuse or limit entries, to add or divide classes, to add or substitute judges or make whatever changes are required by circumstances to the competition specifications herein for the improvement of the competition. 5 Western Dressage Rules and Tests are based in equine dressage fundamentals and showcase applications for the Working Western Horse. They were devised through a collaborative effort on the part of member feedback, the evaluation of respected horse people and equine organization and then revised and edited by a special division of our education committee. More information may be found at wd.pdf It is strongly recommended that western dressage riders wear approved safety helmets at all times while mounted. The Rules are designed for use by judges and show managers, but also for riders of all experience level. See The Rules are a wonderful educational tool with highlights that include gait descriptions, movements, goals and objectives all of which lend to a progressive learning and training program regardless of intent to show or ride in any other discipline. They are mindful of the mission of the WDAA in which we honor the horse and provide a safe, comfortable and fair environment to explore the discipline. WDAA AWARDS PROGRAM: WDAA Register Of Merit is awarded when the horse has earned 35 points WDAA Register Of Achievement is awarded when the horse has earned 100 points WDAA Register Of Excellence is awarded when the horse has earned 200 points WDAA Bronze Medalist is awarded when the horse has earned 300 points with at least 5 tests submitted riding Level 1 or higher WDAA Silver Medalist is awarded when the horse has earned 400 points with at least 5 tests submitted riding Level 2 or higher WDAA Gold Medalist is awarded when the horse has earned 500 points with at least 5 tests submitted riding Level 3 or higher WDAA Supreme Champion is awarded when the horse has earned 700 points with at least 5 tests submitted riding Level 4 or higher Points can be earned only at shows that are recognized by WDAA. The requirements for shows to qualify for recognition are not difficult, and the rewards can be very significant because owners and riders participating in the growing WDAA Points & Awards Program have special incentive to attend Recognized Shows. WDAA is now offering double points for scores earned at USEF-licensed shows for tests judged by USEF-licensed Western Dressage judges. All of the details can be found on the following web link.
