Follow the instructions to log in to enter your animals. Returning exhibitor: New Exhibitor account: /2251 The Hold Harmless exhibitor statement, IAFE National Code of Show Ring Ethics and VCPR statement must be agreed to on-line when making entries. Once all entries are completed for each individual department, print out the Animal Entry Payment Confirmation and mail it with a check payable to the Crawford County Fair to the respective Department Chairman. Entries will not be officially accepted by the Department Chairmen until payment is received. Deadline: Postmarked by Friday, July 20, Entry fee is $2.00 per animal, including 4-H & FFA projects. Registration and health papers must be presented at check-in on Friday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A copy of the health papers must be given to Department Chairman at time of check-in. 69
2 The Fair Veterinarian, Dr. Nicole Drummond, is responsible for Supervising checking in animals onto the Fairgrounds and has the final word on removal of animals from the grounds for health reasons. If a veterinarian is needed for any other medical reason, you as the exhibitor, are responsible for all treatment costs incurred. Draft Horses will show halter on Monday at 10:00 AM. Riding classes will be Monday night at 7:00 PM. Hitch classes will be Tuesday for single hitch and Wednesday for team and multiple hitches, both classes will be at 10:00 AM. Working classes will be Thursday at 10:00 AM. Friday at 10:00 AM will be the Kid s Day. Draft Horses will be judged at 10:00 AM Monday thru Friday. Health Requirements for Pennsylvania Equine Animals: 1. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued after May 1, It is required that the Veterinarian that is providing your Coggins, rabies, influenza, Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI/Health Certificate) and other health-related forms must be accredited and certified in the state in which the appropriate form(s) and certificate(s) are being submitted. 3. All animals must be free of evidence of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI (the statement is pre-printed on the CVI). Animals appearing unhealthy upon arrival may not enter the Fairgrounds. 4. All equine animals must be test negative for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) by an official test within the 12 months prior to the opening date of the exhibition. Laboratory test results must accompany each animal to its final destination (a copy of the original lab report is acceptable). The CVI shall specify the date of sample collection and EIA test results. Foals less than six months of age accompanied by a test-negative dam are exempt from EIA testing requirements. If the foal is not accompanied by the dam, a copy of the dam s test results must accompany the foal to its final destination. 70
3 5. A current rabies vaccination administered by a licensed veterinarian for animals 3 months of age and older is required. However, if a mare was currently vaccinated against rabies when she foaled, the foal is not required to be vaccinated until six months of age, with a second vaccination administered two-four weeks later. All vaccine label directions must be followed, and all rabies vaccinated equine animals must be accompanied by a rabies vaccination certificate or the vaccination information must be included on the CVI. The certificate must contain legible name and contact information of the veterinarian who administered the vaccine and the veterinarian s signature. The rabies vaccine must be given no less than 15 days prior to opening date of the Fair. A copy of the original rabies vaccination certificate is acceptable. 6. Equine influenza vaccination is required and must be given within 180 and 15 days prior to the opening date of the Fair. Intranasal vaccination is recommended, but intramuscular is acceptable. All vaccine label directions must be followed, and the vaccination information must be included on CVI. 7. Vaccine recommendations not required: Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis), Eastern, Western and Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis. All vaccine label directions must be followed. Out of State Equine Animals Requirements 1. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued within the 30 days prior to the date of importation. 2. It is required that the Veterinarian that is providing your Coggins, rabies, influenza, Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI/Health Certificate) and other health-related forms must be accredited and certified in the state in which the appropriate form(s) and certificate(s) are being submitted. 3. Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) statement: This applies to horses entering Pennsylvania from states that experienced a Vesicular Stomatitis outbreak in the last 12 months. In these cases an accredited veterinarian shall determine whether the animals are free from VS, and animals shall be accompanied by a CVI with the following statement signed by the 71
4 accredited veterinarian: All animals identified on this CVI have been examined and found to be free from VS. During the past 90 days, these animals were not located within 10 miles of a site where VS has been diagnosed. 4. All animals must be free of evidence of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI. 5. 5 ELISA) test, or a Department-approved equivalent test, with the test occurring within the 30 days preceding entry into Pennsylvania. The date of test and the test results shall be written on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. 8. Hay, grain, straw are to be furnished by the exhibitor. 1. No horse or team of horses shall be entitled to premium unless serviceably sound. 2. No grade stallions shall be accepted for entry. 3. All animals entered must compete and be shown in their appropriate halter class except those animals that will be hitched in a hitch class of more than one team, and the exhibitor would have multiple animals that would be required to show in the same halter class, only one animal per class would be required to be shown (i.e. you have 3 geldings in the 3-6 year old class, you would be required to show one animal in that particular halter class). 4. In no case is it permissible to show mixed breeds in the same class or division to be judged against each other for premiums. 5. The Fair reserves the right to refuse any or all entries. 6. All entries to be in place by Sunday and remain until 8:00 PM on Saturday. 7. Age of all horses to be determined by January 1st of current year. 8. Exhibitors will not be allowed to wear tennis shoes while showing. 9. Exhibitors who show in the youth hitch classes will not be permitted to show in the ladies or man s hitch classes. Youth drivers must be accompanied by an adult. 73
6 10. All horses must be inspected by the Fair Veterinarian before unloading. 11. Exhibitors entering a 60 & over class for cart or team are not eligible to enter another cart or team class. 60th birthday needs to be in current show year. 12. Performance hitch classes are limited to one entry per exhibitor. 13. First entry only per exhibitor will be entitled to premium in the obstacle and pulling classes. PUREBRED: These classes are open to any breeder and all horses entered must be registered in the accredited record association of their breed. SECTION 2 Showmanship The exhibitors shall be judged on showmanship, the animal will not be considered, but the horse can be of any age. Each exhibitor is limited to one entry per hitch class. All hitches must be judged, not merely brought in for exhibition purpose, and must remain for the duration of the Fair. Scoring for the judging of all hitch classes is as follows: 60% Manners and Performances, 20% Conformation (appearance of horse or horses), 20% Appointments (wagon, harness).
