3 Welcome to the RM! This year's sale offers many opportunities to breeders and at the same time is a transitional year for us at the RM. Since our sale last year we have lost a sizable pasture lease and we must sell down the herd to fit the ranch. This reduction in numbers has resulted in us offering some outstanding cattle that normally would not be for sale. We invite you to look closely at our offering and take advantage of the buying opportunity. We are excited by the Texas Longhorn breed. We think our herd has improved tremendously in the past few years and there are two very important factors responsible for this. One is the fact that we have concentrated on using proven cow families in our herd. We presently have several families that are beginning to dominate the herd. These lines add superior genetics and predictability to the herd. Our heifer sale offerings are hand selected this year from these awesome cow families. A second factor is we think we have the finest set of bulls we have ever had. Our confidence in these bulls led us to the conclusion that we should share these genetics with the industry and today we are pleased to make a special semen offering of three proven sires and one prospect to you. We will also offer semen packages from a unique group of Butler bulls in the auction. For those of you who come to the ranch on Friday we will offer tours of the ranch. We love to show our cattle off and are proud of the results of the hard work we have done in elevating the herd over the past dozen years or so. We are excited by our calves out of Touchdown of RM, Iron Mike and Safari BL Chex and hope you will take time for a tour. We will be selling nine paint horses bred and raised here at the RM. Many of you are familiar with the horses we have offered here at previous sales and many of you have bought some great stock right here. Horses will be auctioned at the Friday night heifer sale as well as at the Saturday Fiesta Sale. If you are interested in buying a beautiful, well-bred paint horse, take a look at this special offering. The Texas Longhorn breed is evolving very rapidly and buyers are more sophisticated and knowledgeable than ever before. This evolution presents a real challenge to us at our heifer sale. We have always attempted to have the strongest set of heifers possible. Last year we offered several lots of weanling to yearling heifers out of superior cows with their dams on display. These heifers were so well received that we are offering more heifers like that this year. This year's heifer sale can be your herd's next gold mine. There are some fabulous heifers out of elite cows. Many of these heifers normally would not even be for sale. Take a good look at the heifers and their dams and do yourself a favor and buy a great heifer or two to add to your breeding program. These heifers should excite all breeders. 4 SPECIAL SEMEN OFFER For the first time in several years we will be offering semen from three of our herdsires. This offer will expire on May 4. This is an opportunity to buy proven, promoted and profitable bulls at the very reasonable price of $50 per straw. The semen will be offered with a 15 straw minimum and the buyer may choose semen from one, two or all three bulls. Touchdown of RM: This Super Bowl son is known throughout the breed having sired some fabulous daughters that have topped numerous sales. His dam is a VJ Tommie daughter and out of a dominant cow family. His biggest horned daughter is currently 85" and we have several young cows in our herd that will go over 80" soon. His best known son is the lacey faced RM Heavy Touch we own in partnership with the Allens. This is the most consistant bull we have ever owned. He sires uniformity and loud color. This is only the second time we have offered to sell his semen. Iron Mike ST is one of the greatest sons of Hunts Command Respect. His dam is the great Tabasco daughter Hashknife. We acquired this bull after noticing several outstanding daughters of his topping sales. Not only did we start buying his daughters but we bought him as soon as he became available. He is known for siring daughters that exceed their dams in tip-to-tip at an early age. We had a number of heifers over 50" at 24 months in our first calf crop from him and he produces a rainbo of colors. Our biggest horned son of his so far measured 66 1/2" at 29 months and is tri-colored. This year we are now getting our third calf crop from him and he has not disappointed us. Iron Mike is a very special bull. Safari BL Chex: We are excited to own part of this great Loomis raised bull. He is over 80" tip-to-tip and is not related to much of our herd. His sire is Farlap Chex and his dam is one of the breed's greatest black cows, Night Safari BL 833. His full and half-siblings have been producers and the predictability that he has is what we look for in a herdsire. His brindle and white color should work well in our herd and we hope he will pass the brindle on to some of his calves. His low horn set should give us horn genetics that lead to extreme tip-totip. We think these three bulls are a bargain at $50 per straw. We will not offer this package again. We give the buyer the flexibility to choose one, two or all three bulls with a minimum of 15 straws total. The buyer may take more than 15 straws if he so chooses. Semen is limited to quanitites on hand. Buyers of this semen package have the option to purchase semen from the late Buzz Saw for $150. This semen is in very limited quantity. PAGE 4

39 Terms and Conditions Except for those stated in the below terms and conditions there are no warranties, either expressed or implied, as to merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the cattle being sold at this auction. The warranties and guarantee set forth in the Terms and Conditions are in lieu of all other warranties, either expressed or implied, and the remedies provided therein shall be the sole and exclusive remedy of the buyer, or any party claiming through buyer, for any breach or warranty or guarantees therein provided, and all other obligations or liabilities. 1. Bidding Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision shall be final. 2. Terms Terms of the sale are cash or check or approved credit. Settlement must be made to the clerk at the conclusion of the auction. 3. Purchaser s Risk Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold, but will not be delivered until settlement has been made. 4. Certificate of Registry When full settlement has been made, a certificate of registration will be furnished and transferred to the purchaser. Give full name and address to the secretary when making payments so the Certificates of Registry will be transferred properly. 5. Health All animals are eligible for interstate shipment except as otherwise noted. The cattle have been tested for tuberculosis and Bangs disease within 30 days of sale date. A certificate will be furnished. 6. Announcements Announcements from the auction box take precedence over printed matter in this catalog. All cattle will be sold by lot numbers, as announced by auctioneer. 7. Breeding Guarantee (A) All animals are guaranteed to be breeders with the exception of: (a) injury or disease occurring after sale, (b) negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser. (B) Any female is considered a breeder if she is pregnant at the time of this sale and/or she has a calf at side. (C) Any bull which either: (1) produces viable semen; (2) settles 1/3 or more of the healthy cows he serves; (3) is the sire of 20 or more animals; or (4) settles cows by natural service, and passes a fertility test made by a competent veterinarian during any six month period trial, shall be considered a breeder. (D) Buyer must notify seller within one year of any breeding problem found in an animal. 8. Embryo Transfer Guarantee All donor cows that have been worked successfully in embryo transfer are guaranteed to produce good embryos with the exception of other guarantees stated in the footnotes of this catalog or announced from the auction block. It is understood that these guarantees are valid only if: (1) a qualified person or persons do the transfer; (2) donor cow is managed properly in embryo transfer (i.e. not over conditioned and/or overworked); (3) injury or disease does not occur after the sale and (4) the purchaser is not negligent or willfully mistreats the donor cow. 9. Options and Privileges for Return or Adjustment (A) All claims for adjustment or return must be made in writing within six months of the sale date. (B) Any animal that has not proven itself a breeder within the time limits specified above, if in healthy condition, may be returned to seller at buyer s expense. The seller reserves the right and privilege of trying for a period of six months to prove the animal a breeder. If proven a breeder, an animal will be returned at buyer s expense. Should the animal fail to breed, the seller, at his option, may either return the purchase price or make replacement of the animal with another of equal value. (C) Any animal returned must have a veterinarian s certificate that it is free of Bangs and tuberculosis. 10. Rights and Obligations (A) The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between the buyers and sellers of each animal and shall be equally binding upon both. (B) Animals resold following the purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction, and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale. (C) All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk and the owners nor any person connected with the management of the sale assume any liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents which may occur. 11. Applicable Law All cattle (or horses) in this sale are offered according to the laws of the State of Texas.
