Classes may be further divided or grouped depending on entries Ribbons will be awarded to sixth place in each event Full Pony Club Uniform to be worn. - Only Associate riders yrs can wear gaiters the same colour as boot - NO chapettes - as per PCA NSW. - Fawn, Oatmeal or Beige jodhpurs only - NO BANANA COLOURED JODPHURS ALLOWED. Horse Measurement cards - MUST be carried by all competitors. - These cards must be signed by the Club Senior Instructor and the Club Secretary. Horses without verification will be refused ring entry. - A horse measurer will be available from 7.30am to 8.30am if required. Horses may only compete as HUNTER or OPEN - Club senior instructor is to declare category on height card. - If unsure about category officials will assist on the morning A SUPREME CHAMPION HACK perpetual Bayliss Family Trophy will be awarded. CHAMPION PONY, CHAMPION GALLOWAY & CHAMPION HACK perpetual trophies will be awarded. Class Definitions Beginner Ring for riders on Lead, or those that are capable of walk and trot but can not canter in an open ring amongst other horses. Open to all ages Hunter Hack - displays sufficient substance and bone, have greater depth of girth, and overall heavier bone. Pleasure Horse To be ridden in an ordinary snaffle bit only and one handed (at the judge s discretion). - Cavesson Noseband permitted - NO whips, NO spurs, NO martingales Plain Bit the winner MUST remain in plain bit for champion (exception occurs if horse has won another class) Working Hunter and Hack Classes jumping height all heights 45cm, beginner (pole on ground). To be judged using equitation standards. Handler Classes - judged strictly on the handler s ability to show a horse in a led class. No consideration is given to the horse other than grooming and presentation. 5 CLASS INSTRUCTIONS PONY CLUB MOUNT WORKOUT HANDLER CLASSES Pony Club Handler classes are judged strictly on the Handler s ability to show a horse in a led class. No consideration is given to the horse other than grooming and presentation. The ability of the handler to show the horse is the only criteria being judged. The procedure for judging is as follows: 1. The horse and handler enter the ring at a brisk walk as directed by the Steward. 2. The horse is led from the near side and must walk at the same pace as the Handler moving in a brisk, alert manner. 3. When instructed to line up, the Handler stands the horse squarely on all four feet and presents the horse in a position which does not obstruct the Judge s view of the horse at any time, whilst remaining on the near side of the horse. The Handler must not stand in front of the horse. 4. The Judge will then call upon individual Handlers to present and parade their horse. 5. When turning the horse, it must be to the right to give the Judge a full view of the horse. The Handler should know where the Judge is at all times so as not to obstruct the Judge s view of the horse. 6. Handlers must always keep their position in the line and allow reasonable space between the horses on either side. If asked to change position in the line, the Handler will lead the horse forward and circle the line and approach the new position from behind. 7. The Handler must be alert and courteous and respond quickly to instructions from the Judge or Steward. GUIDELINES FOR JUDGING: The horse is to be clean and well presented. No consideration will be given to the horse s confirmation or type. The horse must be shown in a bridle with a snaffle bit which is well fitted, neat and clean. A show whip, which may not exceed 1 metre in length, may be carried. The Handler is to be well presented and wearing Pony Club uniform. The class is judged solely on the Handler s ability to show the horse. In order to gain maximum points Handlers should avoid the following: Failure to recognise and correct faults of the horse s position. Kicking, hitting or having leg contact with the horse. Talking with other contestants. Failure of the horse to lead properly. Failure to stop the horse before turning when at a walk or trot. Loud voice commands to the horse. Turning the horse in the wrong direction. Blocking the Judge s view of the horse. Causing the judge to move to avoid being bumped or stepped on. Unsportsmanlike behaviour which may cause elimination.
