Rules as defined in the currents Members Handbook. Open to SSA Members and Non-Members. Members carrying their current championship Points Cards are eligible for SSA rosettes to 3 rd Adult and 3 rd Junior places and SSA Championship Points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed member under aged 14 on 1 st January of the current year. Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Stud Show Centre to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out in the class. FALLS: A fall of horse/pony or rider in any class run under Side Saddle Association rules will result in disqualification, and the rider must leave the ring dismounted. It is strongly recommended that medical advice is then sought before competing in any other class. JUNIOR COMPETITORS (SSA Members or Non SSA Members): MUST have attained their 5th birthday and be under 18 on 1st January of the current year and MUST wear a correctly secured Skull Caps/Riding Hat that meets one of the following current Safety Standards in all classes affiliated to or run by the SSA: All PAS 015; VG1; (BS)EN ; ASTM F a onwards; SNELL E2001; SNELL E2016; AS/NZS onwards. A Spur or Spur band is not permitted in any class where jumping is involved. ADULT COMPETITORS (SSA Members or Non SSA Members): MUST be aged 18 or over on 1st January of the current year and MUST wear a correctly secured Skull Caps/Riding Hat that meets one of the following current Safety Standards in all classes: All PAS 015; VG1; (BS)EN ; ASTM F a onwards; SNELL E2001; SNELL E2016; AS/NZS onwards. LEAD REIN competitors MUST compete Hors Concours in any SSA affiliated class unless otherwise stated. QUALIFIERS: Shows held up to and including the first day of the 2019 National Side Saddle Show will be Qualifiers for Shows held after that date will be Qualifiers for the following year. Prizes - 1 st 30 plus RoR jacket, 2 nd 20, 3 rd 10, 4 th 10 Amateur definition: An amateur is a person who for the purpose of RoR classes does not/has not during the current season or previous season: Engage (d) in breeding, livery, buying or selling, dealing or hiring horses (for the show ring) in a commercial capacity. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer's/Trainer's yard (in the current season or previous season). Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not have received any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current or previous season. Horses must not have been ridden at a show by a rider who has ridden for a Professional/Producer Trainer in the current or previous season. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes. CLASS 4 The RoR Tattersalls Scottish Thoroughbred Show Series 2018 Mrs Laura Hamilton, 2 Sunny cottages, Naunton, Cheltenham, GL54 3AD (conformation) Miss B Millington, Kersoe Farm,Kersoe, Pershore WR10 3JD (ride) The RoR Tattersalls Scottish Show Series Qualifier Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4years old or over, any height. Riders must be 15 years or over. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. The first three go forward to the championship at the Royal Highland Show All entries MUST be registered with the R0R and have RACED in GB. There will be a prize for the highest placed veteran 15years or over. The class will be run under the rules of RoR. Horses to be ridden by the judge. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Racing injuries and blemishes will NOT be ignored in this series

4 Prizes: Rosettes 1 st to 6 th place, Vouchers 1 st to 4 th place. Veteran prize, 25 voucher to be redeemed from RoR office and qualification for the Veteran final at Aintree. 1 st 60 plus voucher for jacket, 2 nd 40, 3 rd 20, 4 th 10. Partbreds are not eligible to compete. All Riders and Owners must be Members of either the Shire Horse Society, The Clydesdale Horse Society, The Suffolk Horse Society or British Percheron Horse Society. This class will be run in accordance with the British Ridden Heavy Horse Society however the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook will take precedence, a copy of which can be downloaded from This is a Horse of the Year Show Qualifier, all data given upon entry of this class is provided to Grandstand Media Limited and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. For full policy details please visit For Clydesdale horses, they are to hold a Clydesdale Horse Society passport with full pedigree details, stallions and mares are to appear in the main section of the Clydesdale Horse stud book and geldings are to have appeared as produce of their dam. 5 the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 3rd - 7th October Qualification will not pass below 5th place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. VETERAN HORSES Mrs Janet Hoyle, Stormer Hill Closers Farm, Tottington, Bury, Lancs BL8 3PE Veteran Horse Society QUALIFIER This is a qualifier for the Veteran Horse Society Supreme Final: SCOTTISH VETERAN HORSE OF THE YEAR 2018 Kindly Sponsored by Allen & Page. Each VHS affiliation in Scotland now holds a PRE-QUAL Supreme Final qualification There is no 2nd round each show has the same qualifying status. Open to members and non-members. However, only Members may go forward to the Championship of the day. VHS Membership to be applied for no later than 1 week prior to this show, to avoid disappointment. VHS Scottish Supreme (Pre-Judging) Final qualification. ONLY MEMBERS placed 1 st to 2nd in each age category will go to the Veteran Championship of the Day. In all classes - if competitors placed 1st or 2nd are not Members qualification will be given to 3rd & 4th providing they are Members. Qualification will not go lower than 4th place. If the Champion or Reserve has qualified then 2nd or 3rd reserve may take qualification. All competitors and grooms must adhere to VHS Rules in all circumstances. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification. Champions and Reserve Both In-hand and Ridden must have their showing card signed by the judge in the ring as proof of qualification. This will qualify through the pre-judging of the Supreme. A Blue card entry will be given by the judge to complete and return to VHS Head Office, with the relevant entry fee. Should the Championship be combined the top 2 ridden and top 2 in-hand go forward. Young Rider Championship qualification. A Young Rider qualification will be awarded to the young rider of the Judge s choice, entitling them to enter the Young Rider Pre Qual Championship Prior to the Supreme Final. This award is given at the Judge s discretion. Non Members to receive an orange card. It is the up to the discretion of the Show if a Young Rider rosette is awarded. Each competitor is to present their VHS Show Card to the Judge to verify qualification (apart from non-members Young Rider Award). The judge must sign this card whilst in the ring to allow qualification, if the card is not presented no qualification will be awarded and the qualification will be handed down.

6 In-hand Combined Classes CLASS 7 20 years and over (to combine Diamond and Veteran) Open to horses and ponies aged 20 years and over any breed. Highest placed M&M in each age category will go forward to the M&M Pre Qual In-hand Final. CLASS years Open to horses and ponies aged years any breed. Highest placed M&M in each age category will go forward to the M&M Pre Qual In-hand Final. The 1st and 2nd in each age category will go forward to In-hand Championship. Please note the Hat Rule according to Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain. Competitors in ALL ridden hunter and sport horse classes MUST wear a skull cap or hat with safety harness according to the current BSI or European Standard at ALL times while mounted. Skull caps to have a navy blue or black cover.

The full privacy policy can be read or by requesting a copy from Atholl Estates Office, Blair Atholl, Perthshire, PH18 5TH or phone ADMISSION Two wristbands will be supplied for the first entered horse, with one additional wristband for each additional horse thereafter, and one additional wristband for each rider under the age of 16 years. One vehicle pass will be allocated per entry form. Each additional vehicle or person must purchase the correct tickets through the online box office. The day lorry pass will admit to the horse box park only on Sunday 26th of August. Due to restrictions on space the pass will not allow admission at any other time. Lorries or trailers that do not have a horse will not be allowed into the horse box park. COMPETITORS WHO ARE STABLING PLEASE NOTE STABLES ARE AVAILABLE FROM 4PM ON THE DAY OF ARRIVAL, AND MUST BE VACATED BY 2PM ON THE DAY OF DEPARTURE. STABLING A limited number of stables are available for competitors. Stables will be available from Wednesday 22nd Sunday 26th August inclusive. Stabling will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. No refunds will be given for stabling cancelled after the closing date. Competitors are not permitted to sublet stables. Straw is supplied for bedding; competitors requiring shavings are welcome to bring their own or purchase them at the event. Hay is not supplied. Applications open on the 1st June Booking and payment should be made online at Bookings close 7th August 2018, or when all stables are filled, strictly NO applications will be accepted after this date. No refunds will be given for stabling cancelled after the closing date. Stabling applications will NOT be secured until payment has been received. All stables must be mucked out before departure. DOGS Dogs must be kept on leads and under control at all times. Owners of straying dogs will be fined 10. All proceeds will go to My Name 5 Doddie Foundation.

8 DOPE TEST The Committee reserves the right to have any animal tested. GENERAL The Organisers of the Blair Castle International Horse Trials reserve the right to eliminate competitors if in the opinion of an event official or vet a rider is an inappropriate weight for the horse or pony. This includes riding in the collecting rings and exercise areas. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry without stating a reason and alter or cancel any published classes. LIABILITY Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Organisers or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the Organisers, Atholl Estates, Blair Castle Estate Ltd, nor any Agent, employee or representative of these bodies accept any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury, illness to horses, riders, owners, grooms, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories or in any way whatsoever. INSURANCES: All owners and competitors are personally responsible for damages to third parties caused by themselves, their employees, their agents or their horses. They are therefore strongly advised to take out a third-party insurance providing full coverage for participation in equestrian events at home and abroad and to keep the policy up to date. LOSS OR DAMAGE The organisers accept no responsibility whatsoever for loss, injury or damage, however caused, to any person, animal or property of the Showground, in stables or in car parks. CHILDREN Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult while riding/handling horses or ponies, with the exception of while competing in a class. CURFEW There is a curfew on riding of 7pm throughout the event. This includes warm up arenas and hacking as well as competition arenas. Horses may still be exercised in hand or lunged after this time. Anyone found riding after curfew may be asked to leave the venue. No refunds will be given for stabling or entry fee CAMPING Only competitors who have booked stables are permitted to stay overnight in their horseboxes. Competitors who have not booked stabling must leave the showground at the end of the show day. Horses may not be kept in horseboxes overnight. Pens are not permitted overnight or during the day. Anyone erecting pens will be asked to take them down. There is limited competitor camping permitted in the Lorry Park. Competitors requiring an additional pass for a car and caravan must request one in advance from the Horse Trials Office, on a first come first served basis. Caravans or cars without the correct pass will be redirected to Car Park 1 or the Event campsite, where they will be required to purchase parking or pitch rental. For those who have booked stabling for the night prior to their competition day, access to the site will be possible from 4pm ALL EXHIBITORS are requested to obey the instructions to enter and leave the site and to respect the direction given for horsebox parking by the officials in charge of this area.
