2 Hello from the TNT Ranch! Welcome to our 29th annual bull sale. Life is good here south of Almont. It is one of the few times I can remember where we stayed lush and green from June until freeze up. In May many were already selling replacement heifers and cows because it was so dry and they were concerned about a drought and then it started to rain. We are so thankful that the drought has improved for so many that were hit hard in the past few years. Our hearts also go out to those who suffered the devastating losses from the early October storm. It was not only a huge financial loss, but also very emotional. On the positive side, it is a wonderful time to be in agriculture, and especially for those of us in the cattle business. We had a very good calving season. We started calving a little later, and really like not having to deal with as much cold weather. We did not creep the calves. We weaned on September 25 and started them with free choice hay for 5 days, and then right into a total mixed ration. We worked them up to what they are currently receiving; 1 pound liquid supplement, 12 pounds of cracked corn, 8 pounds of chopped hay and 17 pounds of silage, which is half corn silage and half haylage. Our bulls are a little lighter than in the past. Normally we would have fed 4 pounds of dry distillers in the ration as well. This year we had more protein in our home grown feed, so we decided not to feed the distillers. The bulls really look good and stout, but probably have a little less condition. With less energy in the ration our gains are down a little as well. We have been told our bulls are a little too fat in the past, but have had real nice compliments on how well they have held up. We really like this ration and they consume it well. It is a high roughage growing ration, insuring soundness, longevity and fertility. Disposition has always been important, but as we age, it seems even more valuable. We have been culling for temperament for years and we are certainly seeing the benefits. Lynette and Kevin The past several years we have been selling around 100 cows and keeping that many replacements back into our herd. This keeps our cowherd young, with some of the most up to date genetics. Our entire cowherd is now several generations solid colored, smaller framed, and even easier fleshing. Normally we graze our cows out until mid December. This has all been done without sacrificing performance. This is something we are very proud of. We want cows that can calve easy, hold their condition, breed back early, and still raise a big calf. We have had many favorable comments from customers on the excellent daughters they are getting out of our bulls. We have grown our Sim-Angus program, on both the sire and the dam side, long enough to get a feel for their value. We were concerned about how consistent and predictable they would be. If you cut me I d bleed Simmental blood and feel there will always be a demand for the purebreds. We have spent a lot of time researching the Angus and Red Angus breeds and truly feel when you cross the best of both breeds; Simmental with Angus or Red Angus, very few purebreds of either breed can compete. We are every bit impressed with our ¼ bloods and ¾ bloods. They are proving to be extremely predictable and consistent. With the uncertainly in our economy and the extreme movements in our markets it s nice to know we are producing a product that s in demand. Sim influenced, primarily Sim-Angus black or red, are some of the most sought after in sale barns and by order buyers, not only for placements in feedlots but also for replacements in cowherds. This is the strongest demand that we have seen since we have been in business. Simmental heifers and cows x Angus or Red Angus cattle can and do deliver a higher percentage of choice yield grade 1 and 2 carcasses than any other popular crossbred or straight bred. We have had lot of calls from commercial cattlemen looking for bred heifers and heifer calves to buy from our commercial customers. Our goal through AGR is to help our customers by assisting them with marketing and other services after the purchase of TNT Genetics. The Simmental Association has now joined forces with the Red Angus Association enabling us to take advantage of Red Angus very successful commercial marketing program. This can be done through a new green tag program called Allied Access, which is a USDA PVP program. This works the same as the ongoing yellow tag program for Red Angus. This allows for Red and Black Sim-Angus to be marketed through the same program. If we can be of any help in your marketing needs, just give us a call. The two Associations are also now using the same genetic evaluations and common base for EPD calculations. We will be serving coffee & rolls in the morning and a complimentary lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. DIRECTIONS TO THE RANCH Coming from the North From I 94 take the Almont exit # 123, go south 15 miles (10 miles on pavement and 5 miles on gravel) on County Road #86 to 53rd St. and then 1/4 mile west. Coming from the South Just east of Carson, take County Road #86 and go north 16 miles (all gravel) to 53rd St. and then 1/4 mile west. DISCOUNTS We are offering $50.00 off each bull that you haul home sale day, and we are also offering a volume discount. The first bull purchased will be full price, the second bull we will deduct 2.5% off that bull, the third bull we will deduct 5% off that bull, the forth bull we will deduct 7.5% off that bull. Any additional bulls will have a 10% discount. INSPECTION We invite you to come and inspect the cattle at our ranch 6 miles south and 1/4 mile west of Almont anytime. TRUCKING If the purchaser requests at the time of settlement, we will assist in making delivery. Trucking will be free within a 300 mile radius of Almont, to central locations. Long distance will either get hired and we will pay for half, or we are willing to meet at central locations, if there is a full load going to your area, for free. CANADIAN SALES We will cover the health papers, semen test, and Canadian delivery to the North Portal or Dunseith, Port of Entries. We will help you in making arrangements to any other Ports of Entry. Border costs are at your expense. HEALTH All the bulls were vaccinated with BoviShield Gold 5, One Shot, Ultrabac 7/Somubac, and treated with Dectomax pour on. FEEDING ARRANGEMENTS If purchaser requests, we will feed your bull and also have it fertility tested in early April. We would like to have all bulls picked up or delivered no later than May 1. The fee will be $75 per bull. The bulls ration will be the same or very similar to what they are receiving now. We are not responsible for accidents of cattle kept at the ranch. We strongly encourage insurance. TERMS & CONDITIONS They will be the same as those recommended by the National Associations. If you have any questions, please contact us. In no instance shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price of the bull. The bulls are 100% guaranteed. We guarantee to provide you with a sound breeding bull, capable of passing a semen test within 14 months of age. Please contact us if you have any questions. SCROTAL CIRCUMFERENCE Each bull was measured to the nearest.5 centimeter and adjusted to 365 days using a daily adjustment of.033 centimeters. Only bulls with a minimum of 30cm were selected. The ratings for month bulls are 30cm and less = poor; 30 35cm = good; and 35cm and over = very good. HOMOZYGOUS BLACK Will only sire black calves when used on black or nondiluter red cows. You will get mostly gray calves when used on yellow cows or red cows that have the dilution gene. HETEROZYGOUS BLACK Will sire both black and red calves when used on nondiluter red cows. When used on yellow or red cows that have the dilution gene you will get roughly half red and the rest will be gray, with some blacks. HOMOZYGOUS POLLED All calves will be polled and requires both parents to be polled and both to pass on the polled gene to their offspring. The majority of our bulls are polled for several generations. Every bull in the sale is sired by a Homozygous Polled bull and a polled cow.
