2 HOW TO MAKE YOUR ENTRY CLOSING DATE : 16 APRIL HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW ENTRIES - As a requirement of our affiliation to Horse of the Year Show, entries to these classes MUST be made on a separate entry form and a Royal Cheshire County Show entry form or via our online facility. Forms must be completed fully or they will be returned to you. 2. Online - Entries and payments can now be processed online. Please visit the website at 3. Mandatory Payment towards Medical Cover In line with other shows each exhibitor must pay a 3 contribution towards medical cover. 4. One Entry Form to be completed per OWNER please. Additional forms are available on our website at or by telephoning , alternatively they can be photocopied if necessary. 5. Please provide as much information as possible. Write clearly in block capitals. If society registration numbers are requested to comply with class requirements, then they MUST be listed. 6. Before returning your entries ensure you retain a copy for your records. 7. Entry Fees will be accepted by cheque and credit card in Sterling only. Post-dated cheques will be returned. TICKET ALLOCATION Ticket allocation is entirely dependent on the number of horses entered and not the number of entries made and they will be allocated as follows. Please purchase any additional tickets you may require. DISCOUNTED TICKETS are available if purchased at the time of making your entry. PRIZE MONEY Prize vouchers will be issued with rosettes in the ring and prize money can be collected from the ICE PLC cash point located by the main ring on Show days. Alternatively prize vouchers can be sent to the Show Office before 31 July. Prize vouchers received after this date will not be paid out. Prize money will not automatically be issued without a prize card voucher being sent to the Show Office. Other additional payments will be issued by the Show Office within 8 weeks of the Show. Cheques not banked by end of September will be invalid and the Society will donate the value of the cheque to a charity of their choice. STABLING The following have stabling available. 7 HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW CUDDY SUPREME IN-HAND CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 To be judged on Wednesday 20 June in Ring 7 following the Welsh Championships Timing to be announced (approximately pm) Judge : Mr A Elliott, Leominster Chief Steward : Mr Mike Daley Special H136 Champion will receive THE BERNARD WETHERILL CHALLENGE CUP No 218 and a Champion Sash and Rosette. The following class is a qualifier for the Cuddy Supreme In-Hand Championship, NEC Birmingham - 3rd-7th October The objective of the competition is to find the supreme light horse or pony in-hand champion of the year, irrespective of breed or type (excluding heavy horses). The Champion horse or pony from the following classes will be eligible to compete, provided it has not already won a qualifying round in The Champions of each of the following The Royal Cheshire County Show classes are invited to enter this class. If both Champion and Reserve Champion have already qualified for Horse of the Year Show 2018 or are ineligible then the section will not be represented in this qualifying round. Foal champions are not eligible. In the event of a horse/pony having been awarded more than one section Championship at this show, that horse/pony will represent both/all sections and the qualification will not pass down to the Reserve Champion in the 2nd and any subsequent sections. There will be no direct entry into Supreme In-hand Championship Qualifier, all animals must be a section champion or reserve champion (as applicable). 8 DAY 1 - TUESDAY 19 JUNE 2018 SPORT HORSE YOUNG STOCK Judge : Miss Z Pawley, Norfolk Judged in Ring 7E not before am on Tuesday 19 June 2018 Chief Steward : Mr P J Hollinshead a) These classes are for young athletic horses that have the conformation and movement to go to the top of their sphere. b) Each horse is judged individually on a triangle (except for foals) and walked round the ring as a class. c) Marks are awarded for conformation, walk, trot and type and temperament. d) A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed SHB(GB) registered horse in each class. e) The Leader who enters the ring with the horse must remain throughout the class. f) Any exhibitor in charge of an entire must ensure they are in complete control at all times and if not, will be dismissed from the ring. g) All entries in Sport Horse classes must be on the Society s Basic Identity Record or Stud Book. h) The Society discourages the showing of over-fat horses and judges will take this into consideration when making their awards. i) Manners will be taken into account in In Hand Sport Horse Classes. IDHS (GB) - Special Incentive Cards The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Incentive Cards to the highest placed Irish Draught Sport Horse, in the following Classes 3-5. To be eligible exhibits must be registered with or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) on their Irish Draught Breed Registers or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers. Registration numbers to be stated on the entry form. Cuddy In hand Championship Please note that geldings 4 yrs of age and over are not eligible for the Cuddy In hand Championship. If this applies to the Champion, then qualification will pass to the Reserve Champion. Champion Rosette, LLOYDS BANK LIMITED SILVER CHALLENGE BOWL TROPHY No 207 and 100 Special H2 RESERVE CHAMPION IN-HAND SPORTS HORSE 50 and Reserve Champion Rosette THE SHB(GB) BREEDERS CUP The winner of every SHB(GB) affiliated in hand class hunter breeding, light horse breeding and in hand sport horses held at shows prior to the 2018 Hunter Show will qualify for The SHB(GB) Breeders Cup Championship to be held at the 2018 National Hunter Supreme Championship Show at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre on 3 & 4 July The winner of the Championship at The National Hunter Supreme Championship Show will receive 1,000 ( 500 to the breeder and 500 to the owner). The breeder of the horse winning the Breeders Cup Championship, will receive a framed oil painting on canvas of their championship winning horse by Equestrian Artist Rebecca O Dwyer, to be presented at the 2019 SHB(GB) AGM. SHB(GB) (IN THE NORTH WEST) IN HAND POINTS COMPETITION Sport Horse Young Stock classes are included in the SHB(GB) in the North West Points Competition. Points will be awarded to 1st 4th places in each class. Horses must be registered with SHB and the owner must be a current SHB member at the time of the show to qualify for entry into the Points Competition. An award will be made to the horse attaining the highest number of points overall. RIDDEN HUNTERS Chief Steward : Mr P J Hollinshead CATPLANT GROUP OF COMPANIES SHOW HUNTER OF THE YEAR AND SMALL HUNTER OF THE YEAR, NEC BIRMINGHAM 3rd-7th October 2018 Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association, however the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook will take precedence, a copy of which can be downloaded from All Riders, Owners and Producers must be Members of the British Show Horse Association and Horses registered with the British Show Horse Association. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. This is a Horse of the Year Show Qualifier, all data given upon entry of these classes is provided to Grandstand Media Limited and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. For full policy details please visit Classes 7, 8, 9 and 10 are qualifiers for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 3rd-7th October In the Lightweight Show Hunter, Middleweight Show Hunter, Heavyweight Show Hunter and Small Show Hunter Classes, the highest placed unqualified horse in the first three will qualify to enter at the Horse of the Year Show. No horse lower than third will qualify with the exception of the BSHA National Championship Show. Entries in the three weight classes are not eligible to enter the Small Hunter Class and vice versa. Competitors must enter their horses in the appropriate classes and the judge will have the power to transfer exhibits to the appropriate weight class. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. Only horses registered with the BSHA are eligible to enter. 8

9 CUDDY WORKING HUNTER OF THE YEAR In the Working Hunter of the Year Class, the highest placed unqualified horse in the first three will qualify to enter at Horse of the Year Show. No horse lower than third will qualify. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. Horses competing at the Horse of the Year Show and qualifying shows in The Hunter sections of The Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB(GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. SHB(GB) Class Rules All other Hunter Classes, EXCLUDING HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIERS, will be judged under Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain Rules. The following regulations relate to SHB(GB) classes. SHB(GB) REQUIRE ALL EXHIBITS IN RIDDEN HUNTER CLASSES TO BE REGISTERED (except Local Class). The address for registering is SHB(GB), 96 High Street, Edenbridge, Kent, TN8 5AR Tel : Day Ticket = 35 This entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 2 shows in the year it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show. If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration must be received in the SHB(GB) office within 14 days tel for details. THE FOLLOWING REGULATIONS APPLY: 1 ANYONE on a horse at an affiliated show must wear a hard hat. 2 It is strongly recommended that competitors aged 18 or over wear correctly secured skull caps/riding hats that meet one of the following current safety standards:- All PAS 015; VG1; ASTM F a onwards: SNELL E2001; AS/NZS onwards. It is mandatory for competitors under the age of 18 to wear such skull caps or hats. 3 The Organisers of this Show have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organisers, all Officials and Stewards. 4 PLEASE ENSURE THAT FULL BREEDING DETAILS ARE LISTED ON THE ENTRY FORM. Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain requires all exhibits in the Hunter Classes to be registered on their basic identity record or stud book. Animals must be on the Showground by 8.00 am in readiness for judging commencing at 8.30 am. All Hunter Classes will be judged under the Society s Rules. SHB(GB) (IN THE NORTH WEST) - RIDDEN POINTS COMPETITION The following Classes at the Show : Working Hunter, Ridden Sports Horse, Ridden Hunter, are included in the SHB(GB) in the North West Ridden Points Competition. Points will be awarded to 1st - 4th places in each class. Horses must be registered or over stamped with SHB(GB) to qualify. Horses can compete in any of the above classes. An award will be made to the horse attaining the highest number of points overall. IDHS (GB) - Special Incentive Cards The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Incentive Cards to the highest placed Irish Draught Pure Bred or Irish Draught Sport Horse in the following Classes To be eligible exhibits must be registered with or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) and in the correct ownership on either their Irish Draught Breed Registers or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers. Registration numbers to be stated on the entry form. Blue Chip and IDHS (GB) 2,000 Challenge This show is a qualifier for the Blue Chip & Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) 2,000 Challenge. The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from Classes 7, 8, 9 & 10, that is registered or eligible for registration on the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Register, ie with a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught Breeding, will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) 2,000 Challenge. In the event of equality, the conformation mark from phase II will take precedence, followed by the ride mark and then the style mark. Fences should have a natural appearance and not be easily dislodged. No un-numbered obstacle can be included in the course. The manner of going to be taken into account. No change of rider or tack will be allowed (unless a horse is ridden under side saddle, in which case, in order to allow the judge to ride, the saddle may be changed for the riding phase only). A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider allowed). A skull cap or hat and safety harness according to the current approved BSI or European Standard must be worn by ALL competitors in the jumping phase of Working Hunter classes. Skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover. No hind boots or bandages of any description are allowed in the collecting ring, warm up or in the actual class. On completion of the jumping phase ALL CLEAR ROUNDS and any other horses the judges may require, should be asked to return to the ring. If a horse positively stops, ceases to go forwards at any time during its jumping round, or turns its quarters to a fence, or has a complete turnaround, these constitute refusals. If a horse jumps an incorrect fence it will be eliminated. Horses displaying continued disobedience or horses leaving the ring whether mounted or dismounted will be eliminated. The height may be adjusted during the course of the class at the Judge s discretion. The class shall be judged on the show, the manners of horse/pony and its suitability for the rider. Conformation will not be considered. No individual show is required, but the judge may ask small groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by current BSHA Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. Classes (22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 30, 31) are qualifiers for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 3rd-7th October The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified, then the second will qualify. If the first and second are already qualified, then the third will go forward and so forth to fifth place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. In accordance with the BSHA rules the annual BSHA Horse of the Year Show fee of 15 must have been paid to BSHA before the entry is made if the exhibitor wishes to qualify. The BSHA Horse of the Year Show fee cannot be paid in retrospect. This fee is not the Horse of the Year Show levy, which goes to Grandstand Media Ltd. The three highest placed prize winners in each Open Affiliated classes will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme Classes at the National Championship Show in September The BSHA offer a Novice Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse and HOYS Hunter classes). Whips must not exceed 30 inches. Foals are not permitted in SSADL classes. In hand classes - It is mandatory for competitors up and including the age of 16 to wear a correctly secured riding hat to the current approved BSI or European standard. In hand classes minimum age of handler 9 years. Stallions Either in hand or ridden competitors must be 16 years of age or over. Competitors cannot enter the ring once the command of trot has been given. Rider/handler/pony/horse combination must stay the same. Mode of riding either astride or side saddle must also remain the same from first/second round qualifiers and grand final. Grooms where applicable must be 16 years of age and over. Lead rein competitors if applicable and the equine is required for strip the section, the leader will run the pony and the rider must stay with the groom. All competitors should acquaint themselves with SSADL rules before entering. SSADL Qualification Cards and Keepsake Prize Cards 1st 6th will be handed out in the ring at the time of presentation. COMPETITORS ONLY NEED ONE QUALIFICATION CARD PER SECTION IN INHAND AND/OR RIDEDEN IF ALREADY QUALIFIED, THIS CARD MUST BE HANDED DOWN THE LINE NEXT STAGE SECOND ROUND QUALIFIERS You can only compete in the Olympia Anthony Evans SSADL Second Round Qualifiers if you are a 2018 member and your animal is registered with SSADL and holding the 2018 member/registration card. Once you have qualified at a First Round Qualifier and you have received an Acceptance Card, only then may you compete in the Olympia Anthony Evans Second Round Qualifier. The Second Round Champions will go on to compete at the Olympia Anthony Evans SSADL Home Produced Supreme Final at the London International Horse Show in December Once a competitor has qualified for Olympia Grand Final in the Ridden section, they are NOT allowed to qualify in the In hand section and vice versa. 1st & 2nd prizewinners are eligible to compete in the championship.
