1 Welcome to Our 52 nd Annual Bull & Female Sale This year we are making available to you a tool that we have been testing for the past six years. We hope it will be as helpful to you as it has been to us in our bull selection. We have found that it can make an improvement in breeding stock selection for a cow herd. The performance picture of the average cow in your herd is reflective of the bull and replacement heifer selections you have been making. With this method it is easier to find the strengths one needs to balance out a breeding program. This certainly is not the only tool to use, but it is an important one. The use of this tool has made improvement in our herd faster and easier. Accuracy in EPDs has increased immensely. Ten years ago the Hereford Association adopted Whole Herd Reporting. This means that breeders must send in performance data on every animal in their herd. They no longer can pick and choose which animal s data they send in to the association for performance testing. Whole Herd Reporting makes the data base more complete and the numbers much more reliable. The performance of the animals in the sale offering and the quality look of the animals are coming together nicely. If we can be of assistance with any of your questions, feel free to contact us.
