7 LINCOLNSHIRE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY The objects of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society are: To advance, promote and improve agricultural and horticultural industries and associated trades, crafts and professions. The advancement of environmental protection and improvement through the encouragement of sustainable management of natural resources. As a registered Charity the Society pursues these objects through a wide variety of activities, one of these being the annual Lincolnshire Show. THE FARRIER ON CALL DURING SHOW WILL BE: SCOTT SYKES CANCELLATION STATEMENT There may be circumstances where the show has to be postponed, cancelled, abandoned or curtailed as a result of circumstances beyond the control of the Society, for example as a result of a security alert or as a result of inclement weather making it impractical to hold the Show. In such circumstances once any administration fees have been deducted, entry fees will be refunded. The Society will have no liability for loss or damage suffered by exhibitors or others. WRISTBANDS Admission onto the Showground from the Horsebox Park will only be allowed for people wearing wristbands (inc. riders and their associates). If you do not have a wristband then you will need to purchase a ticket at the full gate price. STABLES Temporary stables to be provided by Woodhouse Stabling. PLEASE NOTE: As in 2016 the LAS is unable to provide straw for stabling at this years show. The LAS hopes to find a supplier to sell bedding on the day, but exhibitors are advised to bring their own straw/bedding. The LAS would like to thank Orchard House Veterinary Surgery, Metheringham, Lincoln for all their help at the 2017 Lincolnshire Show. 5

8 MEMBERSHIP On the Equine booking Form, an opportunity arises for each Member of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society to take advantage of reduced Equine Entry Fees at the 133rd Lincolnshire Show. The Membership Advantage for the Owner of each Equine entry is 6, shown below (excluding foal Classes). Additional benefits of the society include access to the Member Facilities and passes for both days of the Show. Please do not enter / exit via Gate 3 (formerly Gate 5). To be Judged on Wednesday 21st June. Conditions: 1. The Society is affiliated to and classes will be judged under the Shire Horse Society Rules. 2. Classes are restricted to paid up members of the Shire Horse Society (excluding class S14). Entries will not be accepted from anyone who has been either suspended or removed from membership of the Shire Horse Society. 3. All animals except Geldings must have been entered in the Shire Horse Society s Stud Book or Grade Registers A and B. All Geldings must be by a Registered Shire Stallion. 4. Exhibitors in all competitive classes are not permitted to enter an animal in any class, which is to be judged by a person who has owned, loaned or bred the animal, or is a blood relation or spouse. The onus of complying with the regulation rests entirely on the exhibitor. 5. Heavy Horse stables can be purchased at a cost of 46 (inc VAT) per night. Special Prize - For the Groom of the Champion Shire Horse The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society will present an award to the groom responsible for the preparation and exhibition of the animal judged to be the Champion Shire Horse. Special Prize - For the highest placed exhibit shown by a paid-up member of the Lincolnshire Shire Horse Association. LSHA AWARD: The Lincolnshire Shire Horse Association Award. Special Prize - For the Best Mare or Filly (excluding Grade A). (Presentation in the Show Ring, award to be returned to the LAS before 2017 Show, Winner in 2016 F W Richardson & Son) Best Young Handler - Midland Shire Foal Society Show & Sale Qualifier The horse to have been entered and shown in the previous In- Hand Shire Horse Classes, to be handled by any young person over 13 years of age and who has not attained their 18th Birthday on the second day of Show. The class will be judged only on the handlers competence in handling the horse. All Entries to be under the strict supervision of an adult. Exhibitors wishing to enter this Special Class, please state on the entry form; Name of Handler and Date of Birth No entry fee Prize Money: 1st 15, 2nd 10, 3rd 5. Rosettes to all competitors. This Class is a Qualifier for the Midland Shire Foal Society Show & Sale s Young Handler of the Year Award. 9

HEAVY HORSE TURNOUT STABLES Heavy Horses are allocated large Heavy Horse Stables at the Lincolnshire Show and these are available in the Heavy Horse Stable Area in the Horse box Car Park. If an exhibitor makes an entry in both the Pair and one of the Single Turnout Classes, then Heavy Horse Turnout Stables may be purchased for 20 each for horses entered in the below classes for the duration of the Show. If you do NOT have an entry in both these Turnout classes - one Pair & one Single class, one Heavy Horse Turnout Stable for the duration of the Show may be purchased for 30. PRIVATE TROPHY: THE ANDREW COOK PERPETUAL TROPHY will be presented to the highest place Heavy Horse Turnout in the Pairs Class. 16 Single Heavy Horse Trade Turnout Single Heavy Horse of any breed shown in harness with a trade vehicle. Classes 16 and 17 will be judged in the Main Ring at the same time. 17 Single Heavy Horse Agricultural Turnout Single Heavy Horse of any breed shown in harness with a suitable agricultural implement or vehicle. (Please do not exhibit any implement which might damage the surface of the Showground Rings). 18 Single Heavy Horse Turnout - Two Wheeled Cart MARE or GELDING shown in harness to a two-wheeled cart. To be driven by a lady or gentleman. Exhibitors may not compete in any other heavy horse turnout class with the same vehicle. Agricultural carts are not permitted in this class. 10

For Classes 21, 22, 23, 25 and 27 please state HOYS ID numbers and BSHA Registration numbers for Owners, Riders and Horses on your Entry Form. (For HOYS ID numbers please contact Grandstand Media on ). 2. For Classes 19 and 28 please state SHB(GB) Registration numbers for Owners, Riders and Horses on your Entry Form. (Please contact SHB(GB) on if not known). 3. The Society is affiliated to and classes 21, 22, 23, 25 and 27 will be judged under the 2017 British Show Horse Association rules. In Horse of the Year Show qualifiers, Horse of the Year Show rules take precedence. A copy of the Horse of the Year Show rulebook can be downloaded from 4. BSHA require ALL Owners, Exhibitors and Riders in the HOYS Hunter Classes to be members of the British Show Horse Association (BSHA), and all horses must be registered with BSHA. 5. Entries in classes 21 to 23 may not compete in class 25 and vice versa. 6. For classes 21 to 23, competitors must enter their horses in the appropriate sections, but class 21 will be judged first, and the judges shall have the power to transfer exhibits to classes 22 or 23 if they deem necessary. 7. For Class 25, a horse, which is competing as a Small Hunter, cannot compete in an Open Weight Class, and vice versa. 8. Qualification will not pass below 3rd place. 9. Judges may be asked to restrict riding to those entries selected for final consideration, having due regard to the judging time available. 10. In accordance with the rules of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, all competitors must wear a skull cap or hat and safety harness according to the correct approved BSI or European Standard at all times. Any competitor not adhering to this will be asked to leave the ring/class. 11

14 11. Classes 19 and 28 are to be judged under the 2017 Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain rules. S.H.B. (G.B.) require ALL exhibits in Classes 19 and 28 to be registered on their Basic Identity Record or Stud Book. Owners and riders need to be current members of SHB(GB). SHB(GB) Registration Numbers to be quoted on the Entry Form for when entering these two Classes. A SHB(GB ) Day Ticket is 30, this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 1 show in the year - it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show. Qualifiers: a) Horse of the Year Show Qualifiers Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association, however Horse of the Year Show Rules take precedence. Horses must be registered with the Association and all Owners, Exhibitors and Riders must be Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry forms. These classes qualify for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham. 4 th - 8 th October BSHA Registration numbers must be quoted on the Entry Form for HOYS Qualifiers. In Classes 21, 22, 23, 25 and 27 the first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified the second will qualify, if the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward. No horse lower than third will qualify. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. Horses competing at the Horse of the Year Show and qualifying shows in The Hunter sections of The Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. b) This Show is a Qualifier for THE BLUE CHIP & IRISH DRAUGHT HORSE SOCIETY (GB) 2,000 CHALLENGE. The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each of the following classes 19, 21, 22, 23, 25, 27 and 28 that is registered or eligible for registration on the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers, i.e. with a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding, will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) Challenge. Horses need not be registered with the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) to qualify, but MUST be on the IDHS (GB) registers by the time of the Championship which will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 2nd & 3rd September 2017 at Arena UK, Grantham, Lincolnshire. NB: A horse may only qualify for the Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each Qualifier will receive a card and a 10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form at to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final. In the Final, the Champion will be awarded 1,000 prize money, a Trophy and a Blue Chip rug. The Reserve Champion will be awarded 500 and 3 rd to 7th will be awarded 100 each. In addition, the highest placed Pure Bred will be awarded a Trophy and 100 and the highest placed 158cm (15.2hh) and under will receive a Trophy and 50. *Amateur Produced and Ridden Horse will receive a Silver Salver and a rug. 12

15 c) The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Incentive Cards to the highest placed Irish Draught Pure Bred or Irish Draught Sport Horse in classes 19, 21, 22, 23, 25, 27 and 28. To be eligible, exhibits must be registered with or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) on their Irish Draught Breed Registers or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers. Registration numbers to be stated on the entry form. d) TSR Riders Championships - classes 21, 22, 23, 25 and 27 are qualifiers for the 2017 TSR Riders Regional Championships. Riders can choose which Regional final they go to - Central, East Anglia, North West, North East, South East, Wales and south West or Scottish. 1st & 2nd Riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring. e) P(UK) Qualification for the BSPA Finals 2017 and Winter Classic 2018 (Ponies U.K. affiliation number 017/A17/8014). 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed horses from classes 21, 22, 23 and 25 will qualify for the P(UK) Whittakers Lord Open Championship. Qualification Tickets will be awarded in the ring. Competitors in qualifying positions ARE NOT required to become a member in order to compete in the P(UK) Championship Finals. f) The Colosso Family Supreme Ridden Show Horse Championship. The final to be held at the North of England Summer Horse Show on 1st July 2017 kindly sponsored by Kim and Adrian Colosso (Prize Money at the FINAL 1st 1000, 2nd 400, 3rd 100, 4th 50, 5th 25, 6th 25, 7th 25, 8th 25, Sashes to the Champion & Reserve, Rosettes to all other prize winners and finalists). The Hunter Champion from C24 will qualify. If the Champion has already qualified then the Reserve Champion will go forward. Only the Champion or Reserve Champion will Qualify. PRIZE MONEY 1st, 55; 2nd, 40; 3rd, 30; 4th, 20; 5th, 15 CLASS DESCRIPTION 19 Novice Hunter, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over that has not Won a First Prize value of 60 or 200 in prize money in any SHB (GB) Affiliated Ridden Hunter classes, up to 1st January 2017, excluding prize money in 4 year old classes only. (All exhibits in this class to be registered with SHB(GB),owners and riders need to be current members). Horse of the Year Show Qualifier Catplant Group of Companies Ltd Middleweight Show Hunter, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cm, capable of carrying 79.5kgs (12 stone 7 lbs) and not exceeding 89kgs (14 stone). Horse of the Year Show Qualifier Catplant Group of Companies Ltd Heavyweight Show Hunter, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cm, capable of carrying over 89kgs (14 stone). Horse of the Year Show Qualifier C24 Champion Prize - For the Best Hunter in the Weight Classes. 1st and 2nd place winners from classes to come forward. LAS TROPHY: The C. N. DICKINSON PERPETUAL CHALLENGE TROPHY (75). Winner: LAS Rosette and the sum of 125 Reserve: LAS Rosette and the sum of Small Show Hunter, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cm (14.2 h.h. approx.) but not exceeding 158cm (15.2 h.h. approx.). Horse of the Year Show Qualifier S26 Special Prize - For the highest placed entry in Class 25. LAS TROPHY: PERPETUAL CHALLENGE TROPHY - GEORGE IV SILVER FRUIT DISH (4). 27 Cuddy Working Hunter, mare, gelding or stallion, four years old and over exceeding 148cm (14.2hh approx) to be ridden. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at the 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in working hunter classes. (Competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail). Fences will not exceed 1.14m (3ft 9ins) in height, the course will contain a combination and may contain a water tray. All clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require will go forward to the next part. A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). Horse of the Year Show Qualifier Novice Working Hunter, Mare, Gelding or Stallion, 4 years old or over, not having won a total of 100 (excluding Championship prize money) in prize money in any SHB (GB) affiliated Working Hunter Class, or more than 5 British Eventing points or 200 B.S. points at home or equivalent abroad before 1st January Jumps: minimum height 0.85m (2 9 )., maximum height 1m (3 3 ). (Competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail). (All exhibits in this class to be registered with SHB(GB),owners and riders need to be current members). 17 Important Equine Regulation 8: Protective Headgear Any person riding a horse/pony on the showground whether as a competitor or judge must wear a correctly secured Skull Cap/Riding Hat that meets one of the following current Safety Standards; PAS 015, VG1, ASTM F a onwards, SNELL E2001 or AS/NZ onwards. Helmets must be worn with the chin straps correctly and securely fastened at all times whilst mounted on the horse/pony. Any person not complying with this rule could be disqualified. Hats or helmets requiring covers must be covered with plain dark coloured silks. The Society accepts no responsibility for any injury arising from a failure to comply with this regulation. 15

This competition is open to mares, geldings and CHAPS (UK) graded stallions, four years old or over, to be registered in, and complying with the showing requirements of, the main body of the stud books of the Coloured Horse and Pony Society CHAPS (UK) or the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association (TGCA). Stallions are required to wear CHAPS (UK) stallion discs in order to compete. All Riders and owners must be Members of the Coloured Horse and Pony Society, The Showing Register or the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association. These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from Marks will be awarded in the following way: Ride/Performance - 50 Marks Maximum Conformation, Movement & Quality - 50 Marks Maximum. In the case of equality, the horse with the highest Ride/Performance mark will be deemed the winner. If there is still equality at this point, then the judges decision will be final. Lead Rein entries are not permitted in any of these classes. 3. Only one exhibit may qualify per class. If the 1st placed animal has already qualified, the qualifier may pass down to the highest placed exhibit standing to 5th place only, who has not already qualified. 4. No spurs when ridden by a junior rider (under 18 years), or by any rider competing in a restricted height section. All ages taken as at 1st January in the current year. 5. Prejuding will take place 45 minutes before the class is due to start in the horse box area. Conditions: This Show is affiliated to the British Driving Society and these classes will be run in accordance with BDS procedures. Private Driving - Singles, Pairs and Multiples Horse or Pony driven to a traditional or traditional type vehicle. A traditional vehicle means a vehicle of traditional profile and identifiable type to resemble the design of a carriage built prior to the First World War. The vehicle may be made from modern materials but must have traditional style springing and carriage lamps. Pneumatic tyres vehicles, trade turnouts and show wagons are not eligible. 1. Judging Criteria: The best horse/ponies irrespective of size, correctly and smartly harnessed to a sound, suitable and well maintained traditional type vehicle, suitable for a competent whip to drive in company. Exhibitors must be fully paid up members of the British Driving Society to be eligible for class C94. Young Drivers - The driver must be aged 10 years or over on the first day of the show at which they are to compete. A driver under the age of 18 must be accompanied in the vehicle by a competent and responsible person aged 18 years or over, a responsible adult. Proof of age will be required if necessary. It is the responsibility of the owner/driver (if over 18) or (if the owner/driver is under 18) the responsible adult to ensure that his/her groom/s is/are competent for the purpose of attending to the turnout and aged 10 or over on the day of the show. Please state the ponies Breed Society Registration Number on the Entry Form, (this is not their NPS/ BSPS/ PUK /TSR number). Connemaras may be registered with either the BCPS or CPBS but must be registered as adults in adult classes, please state the society on the Entry Form. 2. Entries must be registered in the main body of their approved respective Breed Stud Books (part breeds are not eligible) and both the Breed and Breed Society Registration Number must be given on the Entry Form. 3. Classes 121 to SuC137 will be Judged under National Pony Society Rules and competitors must conform to the Regulations of their respective Breed Societies. 4. All Brood Mares must be four years old or over and all foal ages must conform to the relevant Breed Society Rules. Foals must accompany their dam into the ring and be led alongside the mare as much as possible. 5. Qualifiers: a) NPS M&M In-Hand Silver Medal Rosette Championships Sponsored by Kilmannan Stud A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony owned by an NPS Qualifying or Life member in the M&M In Hand section. The Sponsor s Rosette is also awarded to the pony receiving the qualification. Membership cards must be presented in the ring to receive the medal and/ or the qualification. A valid membership card must be in the rider s/handler s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner s membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. In the event of equality, faults and time will decide, i.e. the fastest four faulters will qualify. All scores in the first round will be carried forward to the second round. Competitors in the second round will start in reverse order of merit or the slowest four faulter will go first, the faster clear last. If necessary, those who do not reach the second round, faults and time in the first round will determine their placings,. If a competitor withdraws from the second round he/she will not be replaced and he/she will receive the placing from the first round, however he/she will be placed after those who compete in the second round. 82 5. Stables (Subject to availability) Stables on the Showground can be reserved by advance payment of the hire charge of (V.A.T. inclusive) per stable per night. Stables must be left clean for Wednesday night. Stable Booking: Tuesday night: is valid from Tuesday evening to Wednesday 7pm Wednesday night: is valid from Wednesday 7pm to Thursday 7pm Heavy Horse Stables: see the Heavy Horse Turnout Section Stables are issued on a first come first serve basis (excepting In- Hand Shire stables which are subject to 24 hour booking as above for 46 per night). STABLES MUST NOT BE SUBLET. Cancellation of stables must be given in writing, and confirmed by the LAS. A refund will only be given if the stable can be resold. STABLES MUST NOT BE USED, UNLESS YOU HAVE A CONFIRMED RESERVATION. It is necessary to make the above request to avoid the misuse of stables which has caused considerable inconvenience to both the Society and other Horse and Pony exhibitors in the past. Emergency phone numbers MUST be given on the entry forms for use in the stabling and parking areas, failure to do so may result in entries being refused. 6. Straw & Fodder Exhibitors must provide their own bedding and feed. No provision will be made by the LAS for exhibitors. 7. Dogs Dogs must be kept on non-retractable leads at all times whilst on the Showground, and must not be left in cars. 8. Protective Headgear Any person riding a horse/pony on the showground whether as a competitor or judge must wear a correctly secured Skull Cap/Riding Hat that meets one of the following current Safety Standards; PAS 015, VG1, ASTM F a onwards, SNELL E2001 or AS/NZ onwards. Helmets must be worn with the chin straps correctly and securely fastened at all times whilst mounted on the horse/pony. Any person not complying with this rule could be disqualified. Hats or helmets requiring covers must be covered with plain dark coloured silks. The Society accepts no responsibility for any injury arising from a failure to comply with this regulation. 9. Age In stating the age of a horse/pony it is only necessary to state the year in which it was born except that in the case of foals the exact date of birth is required. 10. Ownership Every exhibit must be the bona-fide property of the Owner at the time of entry. It is the Owners name that will appear in the Catalogue. This does not prevent an animal being sold after entry provided it is exhibited in the name of the person who entered it. 11. Membership Advantage (Lincolnshire Agricultural Society) Owners who are not members of the Society will be required to pay entry fees at non-members rates. Non-members wishing to become members of the Society may do so by paying the current year s subscription and may then submit entries at Member Rates. No member being in arrears with his/her subscription may make 80

83 entries at the Show or exhibit as a non-subscriber. Any entry inadvertently accepted from a Member who is in arrears with his/her subscription may be cancelled and the fee paid returned. Membership must be held in the Owners Name, and at the Owners Address. Membership Advantage can not be used in the name of a spouse, relative or other related party. Membership is nonrefundable. 12. Caravans There will be a special area set aside in the Horse area of the Showground for the accommodation of the caravans belonging to Horse Exhibitors. The charge for the Show period will be (Incl.V.A.T.).As only limited space will be available, bookings will be accepted strictly on a first come first served basis. Failure to apply for the appropriate pass will result in the caravan being admitted (upon payment) at the discretion of the Stewards for the duration of the Show in a specified Caravan area. GENERATORS - The use of generators to provide power to caravans is banned between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. in the interests of the comfort and convenience of all exhibitors. 13. Equine Attendants All Exhibitors and persons in charge of horses and ponies at the Show shall be subject to the instructions of the Honorary Director and Stewards. Exhibitors or their Servants who fail to observe these instructions or the Society s Rules and Conditions of Entry or who may be guilty of any misconduct shall render the exhibitor liable to forfeit any prize money awarded and the disqualification of each and every entry. All attendants should be attired according to accepted standards. 14. Riders It is strongly advised that the combined weight of a rider and saddle should not exceed 20% of their mounts weight. Judges, Stewards and Veterinary Officers have the right to ask riders to dismount if they deem the combined weight of both saddle and rider to have an adverse affect on a horses welfare. 15. Veterinary Inspection In all classes horses must be sound. Horses will not be subjected to a Veterinary examination except where considered necessary by a judge or on a protest being lodged. The Veterinary Surgeons shall be empowered to expel from the Showground any animal, which in their opinion is suffering from or affected with any contagious or infectious disease likely to prove harmful to other animals, or, any animal which in their opinion is unfit for exhibition. The Veterinary Surgeons shall issue a certificate recording their findings. The Society reserves the right, for an appointed Veterinary Surgeon to take blood samples at random, for subsequent analysis, from any animal exhibited at the Show. Exhibitors shall be liable to pay the Society a sum not exceeding 50 as and for liquidating damages, in respect of each animal expelled under the above clauses. 16. Passports An Equine Passport, containing an up-to-date vaccination record, must accompany every horse and pony attending the Lincolnshire Show. Random Checks by the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society s appointed Veterinary Officers will be made before and during the Show. 81

84 17. Veterinary Emergency Treatment It is a condition of Entry that the Society s Veterinary officers may on their own authority give to any animal such emergency treatment as they may consider appropriate in the event that the owner or his/her representative cannot immediately be found. 18. Veterinary Charges Should Veterinary treatment be required at Show, a charge may be made by the Society s Veterinary Officers attending the animal(s). 19. Equine Flu It is expected that all horses and ponies should be currently vaccinated against equine flu before the Show. The Society s Veterinary Officer will carry out regular checks of the Horse Lines and the Stewards, at their direction, are empowered to require any horse or pony showing clinical signs of equine flu to be immediately removed from the Showground. In the event of a serious outbreak the Society reserves the right to require Vaccination Certificates to be produced. 20. Measurement Horses entered in classes subject to height restrictions and not being in possession of a measurement certificate issued jointly by the British Horse Society, the National Pony Society and British Showjumping will be measured at the discretion of the Judges or Stewards. 21. Faking The use of sawdust above the knee, the use of resin, soap, or other substance in any form or way designed to give an artificial appearance, cording or any other improper means adopted in showing an animal will act as a disqualification. 22. Parades It shall be a condition of entry that the In-Hand Shire prize winners shall attend the Grand Parade on Wednesday. An Exhibitor or his servants failing to comply with this regulation shall forfeit all prize money. 23. Awards The judges may withhold any prize or prizes if in their opinion the exhibits in any Class do not possess sufficient merit. Prize winners will be given a voucher which can be redeemed on the day, or by post if received by the LAS before the 31st July Prize money for Show Jumping, Private Driving and Heavy Horse Turnouts will be paid by cheque after the Show. 24. Challenge Trophies All Challenge Trophies and Cups offered shall be held by the Winner for one year or until requested to return the same to the Society or the Society s appointed agents. All trophies and cups must be returned before the 2018 Lincolnshire Show. The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society does not engrave trophies. It is the winners responsibility to engrave a trophy should they wish to. Please use a font type and size consistent with any precedent set. 25. Malpractice An Exhibitor who shall attempt to obtain a prize by means of a false declaration or by any unlawful prohibited or unfair means shall have all awards made to him/her cancelled, and shall be disqualified from exhibition at future Shows of the Society. 82

85 26. Protests Any protest must be lodged in writing within one hour of the class being judged, together with a deposit of 50 and handed in to the Show Secretary s Office. If on investigation the protest is not sustained to the satisfaction of the Honorary Show Director and Stewards of the Section concerned or if the said protest shall prove to be frivolous the person so protesting shall forfeit his/her deposit. 27. Observance of Regulations COMPLIANCE WITH GOVERNMENT AND LOCAL AUTHORITY REGULATIONS AND ALL CODES OF PRACTICE. All Shows, Exhibitions and Events organised by the Society on the Showground or elsewhere are subject to any relevant Orders issued by Government Departments and Local Authorities, and all Codes of practice, with which all exhibitors and others attending such Shows, Exhibitions must comply. For example: Health & Safety Regulations at Agricultural Shows. 28. Liability a) The Society and its officers shall not be responsible for any person whatsoever while upon the Society s premises, or while entering and leaving the same, for any damage or loss however caused to the property of any such person or for any injury, fatal or otherwise, to any such person. b) The Society and its officers shall not be responsible for any accident, damage or loss however caused that may occur to any exhibitor or his servant or to any animal, article, or property exhibited or brought onto the Showground by him. Each exhibitor shall indemnify the Society from and against all actions, suits expenses or claims on account of or in respect of any such damage or injury however caused. c) The Society will not under any circumstance accept liability for any loss of damage (whether direct or indirect) arising from or caused by the abandonment or cancellation, whether total or partial, or the postponement of any show, display, event, meeting or other happening on the Showground or elsewhere for whatever reason. d) The Society reserves the right to postpone, cancel, abandon or curtail any show, display, event, meeting, happening or otherwise to be held on the Showground or elsewhere if under the auspices of the Society. Where the decision to postpone, cancel abandon or curtail any show, display, event, meeting, happening or otherwise arises from directives, happenings outside the control of the Society, the Society will refund entry fees, once any administration fees have been deducted. The Society will not be under any liability for any loss or damage (whether direct or indirect, consequential orotherwise) arising from or caused by a postponement, cancellation, abandonment, curtailment or otherwise. EXHIBITORS ARE REQUIRED TO ARRANGE APPROPRIATE INSURANCE COVER. 29. Health & Safety a) It is the responsibility of all exhibitors to comply with any Health and Safety requirements placed on them whilst competing at the Show. Any exhibitor who fails to comply with health and safety or fire safety legislation may be liable to enforcement action by the West Lindsey District Council Environmental Health Officer and/or the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Fire Safety Officer. b) Horse walks have been laid out by the Society and it is 83

86 imperative that ridden, driven and in-hand horses keep within these designated routes and take guidance from Officials or Stewards at crossing points, etc... c) Total separation between horses and the general public may in certain instances be impossible and it is suggested that if an exhibitor has a nervous/highly strung animal he/she should consider whether it is prudent for him/her to risk bringing this animal to a busy agricultural Show.
