VOLUNTEER POSITIONS Youth program-katie Feinauer Gun show manager Katie Feinauer Gun show reservation line Gun show duty roster-dan Gettling Club NRA recruiter Katie Feinauer or JSSA NEWS: The pistol range will have a new target policy effective May 1, You may bring your own targets and stands or for $2.00 you may rent a target stand from the park hosts. For $5.00 you may buy a target stand and take it home. If you are a JSSA member, show the park host your JSSA membership card and the target back will be free. *********************************** Do you have time to volunteer at the park? Please president@sportsparkkeno.org *********************************** IP #44 An initiative petition ( IP #44) filed with the Oregon Secretary of State would require gun owners to use safety devices in the storage and transfer of firearms and to report a stolen or lost gun within 24 hours. If a gun owner failed to do so, and the gun is used to injury a person or property within the next five years, the gun owner could face liability for that harm. That wouldn't apply in cases of self defense. The law also would require a gun owner to directly supervise a minor using their gun. 1.)Dick s Sporting Goods has decided to destroy the modern sporting rifles it has removed from its shelves and the Field and Stream stores it operates rather than return them to the distributor for credit. In the silly action Dick s did not specify a rationale but cited only a store policy change. The move also included magazines and other accessories with the remnants 2 forwarded to a salvage company for recycling. (Yup! That ll show em) 2.) Another financial institution has joined Bank of America and Citibank in reducing or cutting their business dealings with firearms manufacturers. JP Morgan/Chase has indicated they will change their business dealings with those in the b u s i n e s s o f r e t a i l i n g o r manufacturing modern sporting rifles and accessories. 3.)A New Jersey Senator has introduced a bill in their legislature that would curtail any state representatives from U.S travel to any state that does not license gun owners. This is the same Senator that has pushed the failed smart gun technology in the state. 4.)While we are defending our Second Amendment rights here in the U.S. the already mostly disarmed Brits are being subjected to another attack on those deadly pointy kitchen knives. London has surpassed New York City for the first time with its murder rate and the chief of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in Scotland has blamed knives for the situation. (Is this what we can look to down the road for America if the gun haters succeed in disarming us?) 5.)In the never to be outdone state of California a bill has been introduced in the legislature to tax firearms and ammunition for the purpose of funding police and security measures in their school systems saddling gun owners with a discriminatory burden due to the ineptness of the legislature. 4 LETTERS FROM MATCH DIRECTORS AND OTHER NEWS This Saturday, May 12th, will be our first Sporting Clay shoot of our 2018 season. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m., and the shooting starts at 9:00 a.m. The cost for 100 targets is $ There is also a $7.00 day use fee for those who are not park members (a family membership is $70.00 per year) This year we have purchased two new clay throwers, which will both be at station #1.They are the tilting models, that throw those "curveball" targets. We have also outfitted 5 of our stations with new remote controls. These Longrange Inc. remotes allow the shooter to decide if they want to shoot their targets as a "true pair" (both targets at once), or as a following/report pair (one target at a time). Shoot them however you want. All we ask is that you only shoot 10 targets at each station, enjoy yourself while you are out there. We think this will be a plus to our newer shooters, younger shooters, and even some of our "seasoned" (me included!) shooters whose eyes might not be as good as they once were. We will also have someone at station #1 this Saturday to show you how the new remotes work. There will still be 5 (or more) stations that throw both targets at once. We hope to have the rest of the stations using these new remotes by next year. See you this Saturday! Bryan Vanderpol J.S.S.A. Sporting Clays ************************************************************************************ The JSSA Youth Club will be holding their annual awards dinner on May 26, 2018 potluck style at Topsy Reservoir. Dinner will be at 5pm. Let Katie know if you will be attending by ing her at jssayouth@gmail.com. Their annual fundraiser/banquet will be on August 25, Hope to see you!
