2 General situation 1: Legal framework: Law 157/92: general protection of all wildlife, with derogations in specific cases. Competence for wildlife conservation is at the national level; wildlife management is a responsibility of regions and provinces. ISPRA is the Italian scientific authority in this field DPR 357/97 (modified with DPR 120/2003) Strict protection for wolf, lynx and brown bear. Competence for any derogation is at the Min.
