His master was very cruel and treated him badly. One day he ran away from his master s house. As he was passing through a forest, he heard the cries of a lion. He took courage and went near the lion. The lion put forth one of his legs. Androcles found a thorn in the lion s paw. The lion was feeling pain because of this thorn. Androcles took out the thorn. After this, the two of them became friends. A few months passed. One day, the King s soldiers caught Androcles and brought him to the Magistrate. Greek laws were very harsh. But the lion, instead of tearing him into pieces, he began to lick his hands. It was actually the same lion. All the people present were surprised to see this.
