5 Exit Slip Review Hunting- hunted large animals, used weapons to kill, used skin for clothing and tents Gathering- gathered nuts, berries, fruit from bushes and trees, used for art (berries), less dangerous than hunting Hunting- killed/ injured by large animals, tedious work, had to chase animals, couldn't find animals sometimes Gathering- ran out of trees/ bushes to pick from, had to find new areas to get fruits/ nuts from, poisonous berries/ leaves Task: 1. On a new piece of paper in your History notebook glue the "Hominids (2)" Exit Slip. 2. We are going to review the answers.

Answer the comprehension that follows. Early Humans decided to live in caves or areas of high or level ground so they would have sight over any animals coming near them or dangerous neighbors. This sentence should be highlighted: These might be caves or areas of high or level ground giving them a good all-round vision of approaching animals (and hostile neighbors), and where they would build a temporary encampment.

14 example Reason #1: No Permanent Shelter In the Paleolithic Era, having no permanent shelter was a significant aspect because it allowed them to move around and attain more food. In Chapter 3, page 28, it states, "...people lived in caves... these shelters were temporary because hunter-gatherers often moved to follow wild animals or find new plants to eat." For example, since they did not need to stay in one place, early humans were able to walk around to find animals to hunt and fruits to gather. Therefore, having no permanent shelter proved to be important because it meant that early humans were staying nourished and healthy.
