Terry Tempest Williams LUWI NGULUKA WILDLIFE CRIME PREVENTION ZAMBIA Luwi Nguluka attributes her passion for wildlife to her childhood in the Okavango Delta. Representing the next generation of conservationists in Zambia, she is an expert on the bushmeat trade a devastating threat to lions wiping out its prey species. She leads the innovative This is not a Game bushmeat awareness campaign for the Wildlife Crime Prevention, a Zambian based nonprofit that has received grants from both the Elephant Crisis Fund and the Lion Recovery Fund. 11:00 AM-12:00 PM JANE HORGAN CHEETAH CONSERVATION BOTSWANA BOTSWANA Jane Horgan is the Education and PR Coordinator at Cheetah Conservation Botswana (CCB), an organization founded by Rebecca Klein in 2002 to protect Botswana s important cheetah population. Jane and the CCB team work with the local community, especially farmers, to reduce incidents of human-cheetah conflict through programs such as livestock guarding dog deployment, educational bush camps for local schools, and national radio outreach. 12:15-1:00 PM CONSERVATION FOR TOMORROW: BIG. 4 SCHEDULE ROSAMIRA GUILLEN AND JOHANNA VEGA PROYECTO TITÍ COLOMBIA Under Rosamira s leadership and guidance, Proyecto Tití recently purchased 187 acres of land, doubling the size of their biological reserve, and helping to create critical corridor for cotton-top tamarins. The project continues to expand throughout the country, protecting forests and showing hundreds of children and adults the value of this endangered little monkey, endemic to Colombia. Johanna Vega is the Subdirector of Operations at Proyecto Tití. 3:15-4:00 PM FRANK POPE AND DR. LUCY KING SPECIAL INTRODUCTION BY DR. IAIN DOUGLAS-HAMILTON SAVE THE ELEPHANTS KENYA Save the Elephants (STE) is a leader in the effort to fight the elephant ivory crisis sweeping across Africa. Together with WCN they have created the Elephant Crisis Fund to address poaching, trafficking, and demand for ivory. STE was founded by Dr. Iain Douglas-Hamilton during his pioneering 50-year career in elephant research and conservation.
