2 JOURNEY TO THE WILD As the original non-profit, wildlife viewing organization in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Wildlife Expeditions has a well-earned reputation of locating an abundant variety of wildlife in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. We provide fascinating, educational experiences in a fun and relaxed environment. Animals that may be observed during our expeditions include elk, moose, bison, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, mule deer, wolves, bears, eagles, osprey and countless songbirds. Wildlife Expeditions specializes in creating custom itineraries for all types of participants. Wildlife Expeditions is a program of Teton Science Schools (TSS), your participation on our Expeditions helps support the educational programs of TSS, whose larger mission is to connect people, nature and place through science, education and stewardship. 4 TSS organization Teton Science Schools is a national leader in outdoor education, environmental awareness, stewardship and research. Our mission is to connect people, nature and place through education, science and stewardship. We have been teaching about the natural world and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem since Our organization has educated, trained and inspired thousands of children, youth and adults, bringing them together through the study of nature and its extension, place-based education. Seven innovative programs serve students from across Wyoming, the Intermountain West, the nation and around the world. Teton Science Schools is comprised of seven program areas through which we fulfill our mission: Field Education, Conservation Research Center, Teacher Learning Center, Journeys School (Pre-K - 12), Teton Valley Community School (Pre-K - 6), Graduate Program and Wildlife Expeditions. Each guide has a wildlife research background, bringing a unique perspective to your expedition. Their expertise goes far beyond the basics of where animals can be found. You ll learn about the history, geography and geology of the area to gain a deep understanding of how and why the animals live in their environment. Each guide has completed a thorough application process including interviews, reference checks, drug testing, driving and criminal background checks. All guides are certified in Wilderness First Responder medical training, exceeding industry standards. 5 INTERNATIONAL EXPEDITIONS Polar Bear Expedition, Canada (7 days) Polar bears in the wild offer a natural encounter charged with drama and magic. In our custom Polar Rover vehicles we can approach at close range without disturbing them, and offer a chance for an incredibly moving wildlife experience. From our heated confines or standing on the outdoor platform we may see mothers with cubs, young males play-fighting, or a huge, solitary male ambling over the tundra. There s no better time than now to see the King of the Arctic, and no one better to take you up close than us! This Expedition departs from Winnipeg, Manitoba and heads to Churchill, on the Hudson Bay, which is the base of operations for the week. We spend three days viewing bears from uniquely designed vehicles offering maximum viewing and safety. There is time set aside to explore Churchill and to enjoy other excursions such as optional dog sled rides or helicopter tours. 7 GREATER YELLOWSTONE ECOSYSTEM Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) comprises the largest undisturbed, intact ecosystem in the United States. The Bridger-Teton National Forest, Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park make up the core of the area. This vast region provides Wildlife Expeditions guests the rare opportunity to view dramatic landscapes and observe wildlife in their undisturbed, natural settings. Yellowstone National Park is America s first National Park, established in Among its many treasures are the famous Old Faithful Geyser and the inspiring Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Grand Teton National Park, situated south of Yellowstone, is famous for its dramatic mountain range, wide open valley and the Snake River. Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks offer an abundance of wildlife, active geologic features and endless recreation opportunities. 9 GREATER YELLOWSTONE MULTI-DAY EXPEDITIONS Wolves and Bears Expedition (3 days) This popular tour focuses on Greater Yellowstone s predators. Bears and wolves both inhabit Lamar and Hayden Valleys. This centralizes predator activity and viewing opportunities. Participants travel to the best sites for viewing these animals. In spring, wolves and bears are active as moose, elk, deer and bison raise their young and graze on the new abundance of spring plants. During the fall magnificent autumn colors enrich the dramatic landscape. Elk bugling fills the air as large bull elk round up and guard their harems. Bears are stocking up on food for winter. Wolves are active amid the large concentration of elk. In addition, itineraries may include visits to Old Faithful Geyser Basin, the colorful Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone - crowned by a waterfall more than twice as high as Niagara Falls - and the terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs. 10 GREATER YELLOWSTONE MULTI-DAY EXPEDITIONS Great Parks Expedition (Summer) This four-day expedition explores the abundant wildlife and natural wonders of both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, which offer the highest concentration of wildlife in the lower 48 states. You have the opportunity to see many large mammals, birds and the astounding landscape they inhabit. Dates: June 16 19, 2014 July 7 10, 2014 Aug 25 28, 2014 Cost: $1,850/Adult, $1,095/Child (12 & under) - Single Supplement Fee: $375 Custom Expeditions We can accommodate various large group sizes and multi-day tours. 11 YELLOWSTONE DAY EXPEDITIONS (Seasonal) Old Faithful Expedition Old Faithful Expedition is a wonderful opportunity to explore the wildlife, scenery and history of the world s first National Park. The tour begins in Jackson and heads north via the inner loop road of Grand Teton National Park. This route provides spectacular views of the majestic Teton Mountain Range along with its splendid waterways. Elk, moose, mule deer, antelope, coyotes, eagles, osprey and trumpeter swans frequent many of these areas. Next we enter Yellowstone National Park and head directly to Old Faithful Geyser Basin. You will watch Old Faithful erupt. Your wildlife guide leads you on an informative walking tour of the Upper Geyser Basin. Bison and elk are often seen wandering among the hot pools, steam vents and geysers. After lunch at the Old Faithful area, we head back toward Jackson and may stop at Yellowstone Lake, West Thumb Geyser Basin or Oxbow Bend. Dates: May Nov Cost: $230/Adult, $185/Child (6-12), free under 6 w/ parent Lower Loop Expedition This expedition begins in Jackson and passes through Grand Teton National Park. We admire the Tetons and stop for wildlife viewing opportunities along the way, but the primary focus is visiting Yellowstone National Park. Once in Yellowstone, you ll tour the Old Faithful area, have a guided geyser walk and lunch. We travel on to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, both upper and lower falls. We complete the loop along the shores of Yellowstone Lake and the drive back through Grand Teton National Park. Yellowstone s history, geology, wildfires and wildlife will be discussed in detail throughout the expedition. This full day adventure returns to Jackson in the early evening. 12 GRAND TETON DAY EXPEDITIONS (Year-Round) Wildlife Discovery (8 hours) The full-day Wildlife Discovery Expedition offers numerous opportunities to view and learn about wildlife. For many participants, this is the highlight of their vacation in Jackson Hole. Our biologists know the best areas for viewing wildlife and can answer your questions about wildlife, geology and local history. Our comfortable, customized, safaristyle vehicles have retractable roof hatches that allow for easy wildlife observation. The day begins with an early morning drive through spectacular Grand Teton National Park and surrounding Bridger-Teton National Forest, providing a chance to view wildlife in the quiet dawn hours. Following lunch, we continue our search for wildlife and enjoy a short walk or snowshoe. We return late in the afternoon, completing an exciting day of observing and learning about this magnificent ecosystem. Cost: $180/Adult, $145/Child(6-12), free under 6 w/parent Sunrise Expedition (4 hours) Sunset Expedition (4 hours) Sunrise and Sunset Expeditions offer a fourhour introduction to the wildlife of the Greater Yellowstone, taking advantage of the times of day when animals are the most active. Expedition leaders know the best wildlife viewing spots because they understand animal behavior. They teach you how to find and observe wildlife without disturbing the animals. Participants typically see a variety of species of birds and animals, including Jackson Hole s large-hoofed mammals. Our customized, safaristyle vehicles are equipped with retractable roof hatches to maximize observation opportunities. Cost: $125/Adult, $99/Child(6-12), free under 6 w/ parent

13 GRAND TETON DAY EXPEDITIONS (Seasonal) Wildlife & Wings Expedition (8 hours) Observe wildlife in the early morning light. Later in the morning enjoy a tour of the Teton Raptor Center to see various birds of prey and a possible demonstration flight (weather dependent). Have a picnic lunch with a view, followed by a search for those animals that are more active during the warmer parts of the day. Dates: Summer, Tue, Wed, Thur Cost: Contact a Wildlife Expeditions reservation agent Wildlife, Art and Sleigh Expedition (8 hours) This unique expedition combines a number of not-to-be-missed local activities into a very full day! We start by exploring numerous wildlife viewing opportunities surrounding Grand Teton National Park and Bridger-Teton National Forest with an experienced Wildlife Expeditions biologist. Our biologists use their knowledge and skills to help locate elk, deer, moose, bighorn sheep, bison, coyotes and trumpeter swans for your viewing pleasure. For lunch we visit the National Museum of Wildlife Art and its Rising Sage Café, which overlooks the 20,000-acre National Elk Refuge. After touring the Museum s galleries of fine paintings, sculptures and photography devoted to wildlife, we end the day with a horse drawn sleigh ride and journey amongst the ,000 elk that typically winter on the Refuge. Dates: Mid Dec Early Apr (weather permitting) Cost: $210/Adult, $165/Child (12 & under) Wildlife and Wild Flowers Hike (8 hours) This full-day experience begins at dawn with an early morning wildlife excursion in Grand Teton National Park. By late morning we will arrive at the historic Kelly Campus of Teton Science Schools. We will enjoy a picnic style lunch in Grand Teton National Park. Following lunch we will set out on the trail to Coyote Rock. This hike gains approximately 500 feet of elevation, the total distance is approximately 4-5 miles. Moderate to strenuous. Dates: Summer Cost: $180/Adult, $145/Child Not recommended for children under the age of 10. Bird & Banding Expedition (8 hours) This unique expedition focuses on the ecology of Jackson Hole s avian residents. The expedition will begin at day break when Teton Science Schools biologists pick up guests to begin the search for some of the 330 different species that are found in various habitats within Grand Teton National Park. This program will then meet with bird bander s from TSS s Conservation Research Center, for a chance to see songbirds up close with avian researchers. Following banding, a hearty brunch will be enjoyed before heading out on foot or vehicle for more birding opportunities. This program combines the love of nature, wildlife and research for all ages. (This program is limited to a maximum of 12 participants). Dates: Summer Cost: $210/Adult, $165/Child (ages 6-12), free under 6 w/ parent

Space is Limited Our trips are tailored to create a memorable experience for our guests. We limit the size of groups to ensure each participant can comfortably travel, view and enjoy the scenery, wildlife and the entire experience. Cancellation Policy Single Day Expeditions: All standard single day expeditions cancelled prior to 48 hours of the scheduled departure are refundable less a $25 credit card processing fee. Cancellations within 48 hours of the scheduled departure time are non-refundable. Custom & Combination Single Day Expeditions: All custom expeditions cancelled prior to 14 days are refundable less a $25 credit card processing fee and any fees associated with a third party (scenic float trips, whitewater trips, boat charters, etc). All custom trips cancelled within 14 days are non-refundable. Multiday Expeditions: All multi-day expeditions require a minimum of a 50% deposit upon booking. The remaining balance is due 60 days prior to the scheduled departure, any cancellation 60 days or earlier will be refunded the deposit amount less a $50 credit card processing fee. Cancellations within days of the scheduled departure forfeit all paid deposit. All cancellations within 30 days of the scheduled departure forfeit the entire trip cost. Travel Insurance We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to protect you and your investment. 15 STAFF and BIOLOGISTS April Landale, Associate Executive Director TSS April joined Teton Science Schools faculty in Prior to that she was the Academic Director for an ecology study abroad program in Cairns, Australia. She holds an M.S. from Antioch/New England Graduate School in Natural Resources Management. Jared Baecker, Program Coordinator Jared received his Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana, Missoula. His field research experiences have led him from southern Oregon to western Montana, Hawaii, Denali National Park, Grand Teton National Park and Idaho. Sarah Hoffman, Office Manager Sarah was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia. She graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Georgia in Sarah enjoys whitewater rafting, fly fishing, hiking, biking and backpacking. Kevin Taylor, Faculty, Biologist Kevin s biological research experience includes mapping the distribution of rare plant species and the effects of global warming on mountain plants. He believes that it is critical to include modern humans when discussing natural history, ecology and zoology. Paul Brown, Senior Biologist Paul has led environmental education programs, primarily guiding in the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem for Wildlife Expeditions. He has worked on several research projects in the area, including studying the wolf population of Yellowstone National Park with the Yellowstone Wolf Project. Sean Beckett, Biologist Sean has published studies on owl migration in North America, and has participated in raptor, seabird and songbird fieldwork across the United States. He fell in love with the Tetons after working as a wildlife cartographer and field researcher for TSS. Brad Cole, Biologist Brad has worked for the U.S. Forest Service and for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Of particular interest is his work with Wyoming Department of Game and Fish on an elk study involving daily radio-tracking to determine elk response to oil and gas development in Southwestern Wyoming. Sarah Ernst, Biologist Sarah spent five years in South Carolina as a naturalist and educator. But the wildlife and landscapes of Wyoming held a special place in her heart, so she returned to Wyoming in 2011 to join the Wildlife Expeditions team. Erik Nelson, Biologist Erik has been a Park ranger, studied sea turtles in Central America, led snowshoe tours, done field research on birds in Wyoming and the Dakotas and worked as a naturalist at environmental education centers. Dawson Smith, Biologist Dawson has worked on numerous wildlife monitoring research projects involving endangered red-cockaded woodpecker and gopher tortoise in South Georgia, and pika in Wyoming. He was an instructor and horse packer for the National Outdoor Leadership School and received a master s degree prior to joining Wildlife Expeditions.
