13 Table 3. Furbearer Species Abundance As Determined From Trapper Questionnaire Surveys. Trappers are asked to assess the abundance of local furbearers and to assign a number that best corresponds with the population status in the current year. The choices are: never found in this area; 1 sometimes found but not present this year; 2 Scare; 3 Common; 4 Abundant. The numbers in the table below are the average of all trappers reporting the species. Species not found in the area are excluded from the calculation. The approximate range of equivalents for the numbers below would be as follows: 3.3 or higher = Abundant; = Common; Fairly Common; Uncommon; Less than 2. = Scare; - = Not Reported; = Never Found in Area Anyone who may want a more detailed breakdown of the results by area can do so by contacting Mike Gollop at (36) or Mike.Gollop@gov.sk.ca.
