Hunting Permit Fees at APG are set by the Installatin Cnservatin Cmmittee and published annually by the DFMWR Prgram Manager. ELIGIBILITY FOR HUNTING AT APG All patrns meeting eligibility requirements as defined in AR 215-1, Table 7-1, and MWR Patrnage Authrizatins. ELIGIBILITY FOR SPONSORING GUESTS AT APG All patrns meeting eligibility requirements as defined in AR 215-1, Table 7-1, and MWR Patrnage Authrizatins. Guests are defined as anyne wh des nt meet eligibility requirement. Guests must have SPONSOR present when purchasing permit. Spnsr may purchase permit fr their guest as lng as they have all required paperwrk as listed belw. Guest hunters may nt becme a Hunter in Charge. OBTAINING A HUNTING PERMIT T btain an APG Hunting Permit all persns must have: Maryland State Hunting License with apprpriate Maryland and Federal Stamps An gvernment issued ID shwing prf f eligibility Prf f attendance at an apprved state r federal Hunter Safety Curse (Initial permit). A previus permit may be accepted in subsequent years. Gun Registratin Frm This frm is t be turned in t DES Badging Office lcated at the fllwing lcatins: Aberdeen Area: Plice Department: Building 2200 Phne Number: Military, Retired Civilian and Guest Hunters. This meets the requirement f the State Level Criminal Histry Check. Active duty, civilian emplyees, and civilian cntractrs will be required t turn in this firearm registratin frm nly nce, r whenever they need t add a firearm t their 2

3 registratin dcument. This grup will still have t turn in their annual security memrandum letter frm their security fficer in rder t purchase a permit. Prf f a Security Clearance (secured frm Security Manager) r a favrable annual Criminal Histry Check frm the state f residence unless the individual is less than 18 years f age. UXO Card (This card can be btained at Outdr Recreatin after viewing vide presentatin) Read and signed the Assumptin f Risk. BECOMING A HUNTER IN CHARGE ELIGIBILITY FOR BECOMING A HUNTER IN CHARGE (HIC) AT APG All patrns meeting eligibility requirements as defined in AR 215-1, Table 7-1, and MWR Patrnage Authrizatins. N guest hunters may becme a Hunter In Charge HUNTER IN CHARGE REQUIREMENTS Minimum eight (8) dcumented hunts Hunting Seminar Hunter Area Orientatin Hunter in Charge Seminar and Hunter Area Tur/ Wrk Party will be scheduled by the Hunting Prgram Manager. White-tailed Deer (September-January) Spring Bearded Turkey (April-May) Upland Game (September-January) Waterfwl (September-January) TYPES OF HUNTING AT APG FIREARMS PERMITTED TO HUNT WITH AT APG All firearms used at APG will cnfrm t Maryland Law/When transprting all firearms and crssbws will be cased. All firearms brught nt APG must be registered with the DES Badging Office. 3

4 AUTHORIZED WEAPONS Shtguns Muzzleladers: muzzle velcity less than 2300 feet per secnd Lng bws Cmpund Bws Recurve Bws Crssbws Apprved raptr PROHIBITED IN FIELD AT ANY TIME Handguns Rifles Cmbinatin shtgun/rifles Laser sighting devices r any ther types f sighting devices that prject a light beam f any kind Any persn fund with an unauthrized firearm r ammunitin in his pssessin while hunting will have his hunting permit suspended and may be permanently prhibited frm hunting n APG. This actin is in additin t any legal actin deemed apprpriate. FIREARMS QUALIFICATION All hunters must qualify every three (3) years with bw and/r firearm. All qualificatins will take place at the Aberdeen Area Hunting Facility. Please Call Outdr Recreatin /5789 t find ut abut dates fr qualificatins. ARCHERY All hunters must successfully demnstrate prficiency with bw by meeting the fllwing qualificatin standards: Bw types permitted are Cmpund, Lngbws, Crssbws and Recurve bws. All arrws will be marked (etched and painted with a cntrasting clr) with first initial and last name between the tw fletches n the shaft. A matched set f fur arrws, withut flaws, with bth aligned brad heads and field pints are required fr qualificatin. Bws will have a minimum pull weight in cmpliance with state law. Hunter must hit target n tw (2) ut f three (3) attempts frm apprximately 30 yards t successfully qualify. SHOTGUN/ MUZZLELOADER All hunters must successfully demnstrate prficiency with shtgun r muzzlelader by meeting the fllwing qualificatin standards: 4

5 Firearms and ammunitin used fr this purpse must be the same as thse apprved fr deer hunting n APG. Hunter must supply their wn firearm and ammunitin. Hunter must hit the target (10 inches in diameter), three (3) ut f five (5) times, frm apprximately fifty (50) yards) t successfully qualify. SUBMITTING A REQUEST TO HUNT HUNTING PARTIES All hunting at APG is dne in parties and must have a Hunter in Charge. All parties must cnsist f at least tw (2) hunters. Maximum f tw (2) hunters fr turkey Maximum f three (3) hunters fr deer hunting with shtgun r muzzlelader Maximum f fur (4) hunters fr all ther hunting except when duble carding Duble carding is the cmbining f tw (2) hunting parties and cannt exceed eight (8) peple. A minimum f tw (2) Hunter in Charges will be party. (Bw nly) HUNTING REQUESTS- DEER, WATERFOWL, TURKEY, UPLAND GAME When hunting deer with a bw, deer with a shtgun/muzzlelader, turkey, r upland game the HuntTrac system will be used t make a hunting reservatin. HUNTTRAC HuntTrac is the Army MWR autmated phne system fr hunting area assignments. Only the Hunter in Charge will be assigned an access number t the system, has access t make a hunting reservatin thrugh HuntTrac, and has access t sign in and ut f an area. Therefre, the Hunter in charge will call in t check int an area ne day befre they date they are requesting t hunt r the day f hunting. Reservatins fr hunting can be made using the HuntTrac system starting at 1700 the day prir t the hunt, until 0559 the day f the hunt. After making a hunting reservatin thrugh HuntTrac nly the Hunter in Charge will be listed in the HuntTrac system as checked int an area. Therefre, the Hunter in Charge and the rest f his/her hunting part will be required t sign the rster sheet at the gate int restricted area. On the sign in sheet, the hunting party must ensure they have listed: Names f each individual in the hunting party Date Area they are assigned t hunt The Hunter in Charge is nly permitted t sign int ne area per day. HUNTTRAC INSTRUCTIONS Dial: (410)

Fr Shtgun Deer- Press 3 2. Enter the Area Designatin Cde fllwed by the pund sign (#).The area designatin cdes are lcated n chart that can be fund at titled Cdes fr Areas. 3. T check int the area fr the current day r fllwing day. a. Current Day- Press 1 b. Fllwing Day- Press 2 4. Listen fr the cnfirmatin f registratin Press 2 t inquire if a hunting area is pen. Canceling a Reservatin: If the Hunter in Charge wuld like t cancel his/her hunting reservatin they must call int the HuntTrac system and check ut f their assigned hunting area. Failure t cancel a hunting reservatin when nt hunting the assigned area is in vilatin f APGMWR Hunting Plicies AFTER OBTAINING AN AREA THROUGH HUNTTRAC After receiving an area thrugh the HuntTrac system the Hunter in Charge must d the fllwing: 1. Fill ut all required infrmatin n Frm 1249B. 2. Upn arrival f hunting area: a. Sign in at the restricted area gates upn entry and filling ut the required sign in sheet with: i. Assigned Area ii. Names f all party members iii. Time f entry iv. Cell phne number f at least n member f party (fr emergency purpses) b. When hunting Cantnment Areas hunters will sign in at the Hunting Management Facility with the same infrmatin listed abve. c. Upn arrival at assigned area hunter will place 1249B n dashbard f vehicle s that it can be read frm the utside. 3. When departing the assigned area: a. When leaving yur area fr lunch yu are nt required t sign ut n HuntTrac, but yu must sign ut at the restricted area security gate. At re-entry yu must sign back in. b. If yu are finished hunting fr the day all members will sign ut at gate r Hunting Management Facility. 4. Cmpletin f hunting: a. Check ut f the area thrugh HuntTrac b. All hunter will turn in cmplete 1249 at the Hunting Management Facility after cmpletin f hunting. c. All harvested game must be listed n

7 d. If yu are placing item in the cld bx, it must be written n the lg sheet. Cld bx prcedures must be fllwed, game can stay in cld bx fr 72 hurs. HUNTING REQUESTS- SPECIAL AREAS When hunting waterfwl, areas will be assigned using a Blind Draw, nt thrugh the HuntTrac system. WHERE TO SUBMIT HUNTING REQUEST The Hunter in Charge (HIC) will submit a hunting request (Frm 1249) in ne f the fllwing ways: sent t the fllwing address: apgdrhunting@gmail.cm Hard cpy submitted t Outdr Recreatin, Bldg in persn during business hurs TIME THAT REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED All submissins must be received by: 12:30p the day prir t the date f hunting t be entered in the regular draw 12:00p t be entered in the Stand-by draw (weekdays nly) Requested submitted after these times will nt be placed int the draw WHEN DRAWINGS WILL BE HELD Drawings will be held Mnday thrugh Friday. Mnday fr Tuesday hunt Tuesday fr Wednesday hunt Wednesday fr Thursday hunt Thursday fr Friday hunt Friday fr Saturday, Sunday and Mnday hunts In the event f a hliday the draw fr the hliday will be held n the last wrkday prir t hliday HUNTERS MAY NOT Submit requests fr bth Aberdeen and Edgewd areas fr the same day f hunting. 8 Hunting ne f the fllwing: Special Area, Standby, 1630 (Bw nly) Indicate if yu need a security badge r key if area drawn is lcated in a secure area (if this is nt marked n yur card yu will nt be issued a badge r key and therefre unable t hunt) All members f the hunting party with the Hunter in Charge listed n tp APG Permit number t be listed (all permit numbers begin with ne f the fllwing letters: H - Hunter in Charge, O - Other, G Guest and end with three numbers) Type f hunting: Deer (Bw, Shtgun r Muzzlelader), Upland Game, Waterfwl, Turkey (Spring) Areas yu wuld like t hunt (can list up t 16 chices r mark any t be assigned an available area) Signature f Hunter in Charge PROCEDURES FOR RECEIVING A HUNTING AREA DRAW PROCEDURES All requests submitted fr draw will be placed face dwn n the table s that the identity f party members is unknwn t thse individuals perfrming the draw This is knwn as a Blind Draw. The draw is held as sn as Range Sheets are received frm ATC Range Cntrl. Anyne can cme in and view r participate in the drawing f requests. Requests are drawn in a randm rder Areas are assigned t each party beginning with the first chice listed and ending with the last chice listed based n availability. The draw will cntinue until the last request is drawn r all available areas n sheet have been exhausted. In the event that all areas listed n request have already been issued t anther party r nt available fr hunting n day f request, that request will be placed int supplemental draw and hunting party will be assigned first pen area available n range sheet. The area assignments will fllw the rder in which they were selected in the first draw. If there are n available areas left after the first draw cards have been drawn, r all areas have been assigned in the supplemental draw then this will result in a draw-ut and the remaining hunters withut an area will nt be able t hunt. Area assignments will be ed t Hunter in Charges nly. AREA ASSIGNMENT SHEETS All members f hunting party will be listed n sheet In the event a member f hunting party des nt hunt a line will be placed thrugh the name f that individual Hunting party member may be replaced by anther hunter as lng as name is placed n sheet Assignment sheets will be psted at the fllwing lcatins: Hunting facility as a sign-in/sign-ut sheet Access gates (same purpse) 8

9 SECURITY BADGE/KEY ASSIGNMENT HIC s are issued an Access Badge at the beginning f the seasn upn request. Access badges are n a first cme first serve basis upn request. HIC s are able t sign ut a 48 hur access badge in the event there are n access badges available t sign ut. Access badges are t be btained and returned t Outdr Recreatin B2184 Swan Creek Drive APG, MD in persn. D nt give t MWR staff in passing. HUNTING PROCEDURES IN THE FIELD All hunters must sign-in at facility prir t hunting and ut when finished hunting fr the day. All thse hunting waterfwl shall check in at facility when finished fr the day r within tw hurs f the clse f legal hunting hurs. Hunters may nt depart fr their hunting areas prir t 90 minutes befre the beginning f legal hunting times, with the exceptin f waterfwl hunters. Hunters will be eligible t hunt ne species in the mrning and hunt anther species in the afternn by clearing their first area, and checking int the new area. All hunters must sign-in and ut at access gates. When tracking (Archery), all hunters must call facility t infrm persnnel r leave a vic if n ne is available. Hunters will have 2 hurs f tracking time. Caller will leave the fllwing infrmatin: Name Area hunted Time N tracking permitted during shtgun/muzzlelader seasns. Hunters will nt pursue game beynd the limits f their assigned areas. Only DES fficer(s) may attempt t recver wunded deer r turkeys mving utside the hunting area bundaries. Fr deer hunting frm stands, nly DES fficer(s) may attempt t recver deer utside the 50 yard area. Legal Hunting hurs: Deer, Waterfwl, Upland Game: ½ hur befre sunrise until ½ hur after sunset Turkey hunting: ½ hur befre sunrise until nn (first half f seasn) ½ hur befre sunrise until ½ hur after sunset (secnd half f seasn) 9
