Welcome to the Great Migrations Strategy Guide. This guide will not only help you understand how to play, but will also provide suggestions on how to be more successful and have more fun! Let s start with a description of the screens and instructions on how to get around! Strategy Guide The primary goal of Great Migrations is simple: Get as many of your migrating animals to the safe zone without losing all to the predators the higher the animals health when landing in the safe zone, the more points received! Game Play Tap to change to Selecting a Leader Each emerging animal has the potential to be selected as a leader when tapped. Designate a leader, and watch others follow its lead hopefully to safety! Health The difficulty of the level will determine how much health your animals have and how hard the predator hits. The health of your migrants are indicated by both the health bar and appearance of the migrating animal. Example of unhealthy appearance: Monarch Butterfly Follower and Monarch Butterfly Leader. They are not as colorful as healthy monarchs and the holes in the wings indicate damage.

Drawing a Path Gathering the forces! This method works with circling or figure eight paths. After selecting a leader, draw the path line around the starting point in a circular or figure-eight pattern to attract as many followers as you can. Be careful! If too many followers are collected it will slow down the leader and make you more vulnerable to attack! Circling path A leader can have a maximum of 10 followers but this number of followers cuts the overall speed of travel by 50 Percent, allowing predators to catch up and attack. *Note that to maximize points for an EPIC score; you will have to create groups of 10 to get the 2X, 3X, 4X, and 5X point bonuses. Once you have collected a healthy number of followers, direct your leader away from predators, along a safe path. In the early waves, this usually means the outer edges of the play area, but predators get smarter and more aggressive as the levels progress, so a path that WAS considered safe may become a nasty trap later in the game! You ll have to adapt to survive! Run for it! Figure 8 path Run for it! This method is a starting strategy that requires more agility than the first and also does not yield as many points. Therefore it s seldom used by veteran players. Select a leader and run a quick path in front of the starting point (collecting any other followers that spawn) then take off toward the safe zone.

Predators Dealing With the Moving Predator Monarch Migration: Spider, and Big Spider Salmon Migration: Yearling Bear, Bear, and Big Bear Zebra Migration: Lioness and Lion Red Crab Migration: Yellow Crazy Ant and Angry Crazy Ant Finding the best path around the wandering predator can sometimes get a little tricky, but there are some general methods you can try. There are only two spiders in wave 1 of leg 1 of the Monarch Butterflies migration, so you can ease into a strategy that works for you. One suggestion is to use the stump in the middle (by the starting area) as a blocker determine which side the spider commits to and take the butterflies around the other side. The two safest paths to travel are along the upper back rock wall (let the wind help you!) or along the bottom edge of the pond. If the spiders get too close, re-route your group by tapping on the leader again (thus deleting the previous path) and setting a path that steers clear of the danger. Dealing With the Pop-Up Predator Monarch Migration: Praying Mantises Salmon Migration: Otter Zebra Migration: Hyena and Striped Hyena Red Crab Migration: Cars These predators hide in the environment and surprise unfortunate animals that have come too close. The best way to deal with them is the simplest: Take note of where they are and stay out of that area. You may have to sacrifice a few animals to keep the rest of the group safe, so pay attention!

Dealing With the Path Predator Monarch Migration: Oriole and Grosbeak Salmon Migration: Osprey and Hawk Zebra Migration: Red Crab Migration: Crocodile Seagull These attackers follow a set path around the map. You can see the path drawn on the game background and can either avoid it altogether (and deal with the other predators), or cross over the path at just the right time. It will take some practice to know just how many of your followers you can sneak past, but often the payoff is worth the risk! Helpers In Great Migrations there is not a single best way to use helpers. The best advice is to experiment with placement and use the combination that works for you. Some suggestions: 1. Speed: Place these [these what?] to either help you fly by predators or get past obstacles (wind or currents) more quickly. 2. Health: Place [place what?] outside a high-traffic area or possible attack area. 3. Slow: Affects predators, not migrants! Predators start moving as if they ve had a big meal! Slow them down and move quickly around them! 4. Specials a. Milkweed: Protect the monarchs, poison the predators! Use sparingly it works only when monarchs are attacked. b. Bee Hive: Place in areas that are heavily patrolled by bears (it will distract bears but will not affect other predators). c. Mean Disposition: Stuns predators that attack zebras. Like milkweed, it only works if the zebra is attacked. d. Call of the Queen: Will cause ants to move back to the hive. Be patient! Check out predator tendencies and place wisely.

Example: In the picture above there are two Helpers in use: Speed and Slow. The swing set obstacle slows the monarchs down, making them more vulnerable to attack. Speeding them up here can give them a better chance of getting through to the safe zone. Cutting the speed of the predator bird with the slow helper increases your chances of getting your migrants to safety! Tips and Tricks 1. General a. SCORING: Note that you can score more than the winning score. There are three levels of scoring and they are: Winning, Advanced, and Epic score. You need to maximize your leader / follower chains to get achieve these scoring levels, so collect your migrants and then get them to safety. b. While collecting animals to migrate, watch for any pop up predator spots that should be avoided. c. Make sure to have the migration path as green as possible: red, orange and yellow colors indicate slow migrants, making them easier for the predators to capture and kill. d. Watch the wandering predator for the direction they re moving in to make sure they are not walking toward a path. e. Any time the player needs to hold a line of migration animals because of a predator, use a circle pattern (as long as it does not put the animals in a path of another predator). f. When more predators are added, paths change. Use Speed and Health helpers to mark the location of the path.

2. Monarch Migration a. To use the wind to your advantage, collect the highest number of butterflies and move along the gust of wind that blows toward the safe zone. This will provide a speed boost at no cost. b. At the end of the Monarch Migration there is a larger spider. This spider will appear around the right rock formation. Avoid this one as best as possible with Speed or Health helpers, or, wait until the last moment and change your path. 3. Salmon Migration a. Use the speed boost around waterfalls. b. There are three different bears with increasing levels of danger. i. Yearling Bear easy to avoid and does little damage ii. Bear more challenging to avoid and does moderate damage iii. Large Bear hard to avoid and inflicts major damage 4. Zebra Migration a. Striped Hyenas may not attack your first migration party, but don t count on that path remaining safe forever! b. Sometimes it s better to send one animal down a path to attract predators, then send the main body down a different path to safety. 5. Red Crab Migration a. The spawning of the car is random so you have to time your street crossing just right. And watch the number of followers you have cars do real damage to the last in the line!
