Covert Michigan AAU State Director 6487 Canton Center Road Canton, Michigan (734) January 1, 2019 Dear Masters, Instructors, and Athlete s: I am extremely excited to invite you to the 2019 Michigan AAU Taekwondo State Qualifier, being held on Saturday, March 9, This year we have chosen to participate in the NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST WEEK; teaming up with the AAU Cares Program, I am asking everyone who attends to please bring a unopened box of cereal to donate to Gleanor s Food Bank in Detroit, Michigan. The tournament will be held on March 9, 2019 at Garden City School, in Garden City, MI. Athlete s will be able to participate in the following categories: Olympic Sparring, Point Sparring and Poomsae/Forms. We will be using the electronic helmets and Dadeo gear for ALL Olympic Sparring divisions; all ranks and age groups. Electronic socks will be available at the venue to purchase or rent. However, we encourage you to purchase your own electronic socks. The tournament will be a PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY EVENT. There will be no registration at the door. The doors will open at 7:30 AM; our coaches and referee meeting will be at 8:30 am and competition will start at 9:00 AM SHARP. There will be some on site to rent but only a limited supply. We recommend you go to to purchase your socks ahead of time if you don t already have them. There will only be a limited supply available for rent at the venue. Mouth guard, shin & instep protection, forearm protection, athletic cup for males (worn on the inside of dobok). Hand gloves optional.
