Your presence here is a testimony to the hard work, focus, and discipline that you have put into your Tae Kwon Do training. I know that each of you have come with hopes of winning first place and I wish you good luck. But keep in mind, that winning first place is not as important as testing your skills, committing yourselves to excellence, and learning from your competitor. By coming to the competition you have already shown your desire to be successful. In my eyes you are all winners! In closing, I wish to thank all of the Grand Masters, Masters, and Instructors here in attendance. 6 Form Competition Individual Forms Divisions Under 6 years old can perform 10 step of their form with judge s count. ALL Competitors will perform their forms minimum 2 times All forms of any style will be allowed to perform, they will all be scored equally Prohibited Acts/Penalties (Gam-Jeom deduction of a FULL point by - competitor/coach/parent) Any that intentional interferes with another competitor, ring, coach, or official Causing a delay of the match Uttering undesirable remarks or any misconduct on the part of a contestant or a coach. *Any two (2) deductions, the referee shall declare the contestant a loser on penalties. (Gam- Jeom refers to deduction of points due to behavior that disrespects the spirit of the art, rather than due to judges scoring in terms of the accuracy and presentation.) 8 Free Sparring Rules: Sparring Competition B Level Sparring - Jr. Safety Rules Available for ALL ages and ALL levels 1. All sparring competitors must wear traditional Tae Kwon Do uniforms, forearm guards, a chest guard, head guard, mouth guard, and groin cup. 2. Color Belt Sparring rounds will last up to 1 minute and 30 seconds. Belt sparring is 2 rounds, each round is 1 minute 30 seconds (please refer to the chart below) 3. Kicks to the torso will be scored as well as punches to the front torso. One point will be awarded for a valid strike (No head contact will be permitted for any competitors) : repeated offence will get (-) points 4. The referee can decide the winner RSC (Referee Stop Contest) in case of significant difference of competing ability of two athletes. A Level Sparring Belts Only (MUST PRE-REGISTER by September 21 th ) (Available for Competitors with 5+ sparring tournament experience and/or with their Master/Coaches decision) 1. Sparring rounds will be 2 rounds, 1 minutes 30 seconds each 3. Follows the USAT sparring rules and regulation found : Kwon Do/Events/Competition-Rules 4. Kicks to the torso will be scored as well as punches to the front torso. One point will be awarded for a valid strike 5. Technical kicks (spin kicks) to the torso will be awarded 3 points. 6. A valid head kick will be scored as 3 points. 7. A valid technical head kick will be scored as 4 points. 8. The referee can decide the winner RSC (Referee Stop Contest) in case of significant difference of competing ability of two athletes. Penalty points will be awarded for the following 1. Holding or pushing an opponent 2. Coaches, parents, and students disrupting the match and the safety of other competitors 3. Continuing an attack in an clinched form 4. Attacking a fallen opponent or after the referee has given the command to break or stop Competitors will be disqualified for the following o o o Injuring the opponent s face or neck with a fist attack Injuring the opponent by unauthorized or malicious attacks Un-sportsman like conduct

The workshop is derived from USAT referee development program and it will help you boost your program through for all instructors, assistants, managers, volunteers, and black belts of all ages who are interested in learning the back story to every good tournament. It is a great opportunity to meet fellow martial arts enthusiasts like you and really take charge of a tournament as a team. If you have any refereeing experience at your own dojang, local, state, or nationals we would love to have you here to create a great group of referees in Illinois that can be fair and precise in judging.
