2 18 May, 2017 To: Instructors, Coaches, Parents, Athletes and Officials, Dear All, On behalf of One Taekwondo and Edge Taekwondo it gives us great pleasure to invite you all to the 2017 Brisbane Open Taekwondo Championships. This competition is again being run jointly by the One Taekwondo club and Edge Taekwondo club. Both of our clubs are family orientated clubs and want to pass this spirit through to the Brisbane Open and promote friendship among all participants and friends. The Brisbane Open invites every athlete, official and club representative, regardless of affiliation and or style. Members of WTF or ITF are welcome to enter and athletes/officials are responsible for their own personal insurance. To encourage participation we have tried to keep entry fees as low as possible. The Brisbane Taekwondo Open championships will offer, sparring (from ages 5 years and up), Individual Poomsae (non-wtf), Pairs Poomsae (mixed or same sex) and Team Poomsae (mixed or same sex). Please note, however, that these events and age groups may differ slightly than that of the National divisions. All sparring divisions with head kicks will be using electronic head equipment. New WTF rules will be applied in this event. To ensure this event runs on schedule, coaches please note: Where a match is called to begin and there is no coach available, the match WILL begin regardless, without any penalty to the player, however, should the coach take their place during the contest they will forfeit any protest for that match. The use of the Daedo Electronic scoring system (Generation 1) will be used for all divisions from Yellow Belts 10 years and older. Trophies will be given out for outstanding performances and medals presented to place getters. Officials will also be awarded trophies for outstanding performances. For our interstate friends timings of events may be changed to suit flights home etc upon request prior to the proceedings commencing. 5 Sparring Information Format: The whole division will be called up to the court and completed at once (as proven successful in GC Open). The final will be given a min rest while the next division is started. Coaches must register online for credentialing. We ask that your club provide sufficient coaches to avoid the possibility of players competing without a coach. Please note that, under WTF rules, a maximum of three (3) calls to the field of play will be given. A coach may enter the court to commence coaching even if the match has started. A coach briefing meeting will occur at 8:30am, where they will be briefed on the day s proceedings and advised if there are any changes to the day s format. Coaches are required to attend briefings. Referees are asked to register online for credentialing. We ask that your club provide sufficient referees to ensure the day runs to schedule. All clubs who have accredited referees, please ensure this information reaches them. Lunch will be provided to the referees, volunteers and officials, and to ensure we cater for enough people we urge you to register online. A per diem payment will be made to officials. Per diems will be paid electronically after the event. This will ensure that EVERY player has a chance to compete for Gold, regardless of whether they lose in the first round. 9 General Information Players All players using PSS will be required to supply their own E-Socks. Gen 1 or 2 are acceptable. If a player requires socks please contact organiser with sizes and we will endeavour to obtain them direct from Daedo prior to the event. Referees/Judges To enable us to cater correctly please ensure you register online at Your per diem payment will of course be based on your referee/judge ranking as per previous state policy. Lunch is provided. Coaches To enable your free entry and accreditation please ensure you register online at If you are not present at the time of the commencement of play, your player will be required to compete without you, and should you arrive to your match after it commences you will forfeit your protest/video review rights. Video Review To enable to run on schedule, video review will only be available for all Black Belt matches 12 years of age and older. No protests will be allowed for other contests. Online Entry Registration AND payment is only via online entry, please ensure you register online at You can make changes to your entry up to midnight 19 th August. Uncontested Players/Refunds All players will be given the opportunity, during registration, to opt to contest a different division should you be uncontested (including Poomsae). Refunds will be via a PayPal reversal at the completion of the competition. Payment Options Payment is made at the time of registration (PayPal), any player who does not pay during this time will be given 48 hours (2 days) to do so, at which time the system will automatically delete your entry. You do not need a PayPal account as the system will accept credit card (which is via the PayPal system).
