2 Mission: To provide an annual comprehensive Martial Arts Camp that will foster education and development of the Martial Arts as well as to infuse camaraderie and espirit d corp among students and instructors of different Martial Arts disciplines. To bring together Martial Artists of different disciplines to share their art and training techniques with other Martial Artist for the betterment of Martial Arts in the world. The Northwest Kick Fest will be hosted annually in Sandpoint, Idaho by the Black Bear Martial Arts located at 114 Boyer Avenue in Sandpoint, Idaho. The Northwest kick fest is open to all Martial Artist s in good standing with their respective school, regardless of their rank or experience. Participants in the Northwest Kickfest Summer Camp must pre-register and abide by all rules and regulations set forth by the Black Bear School of Martial Arts of Sandpoint, Idaho. The Northwest Kickfest Martial Arts Summer Camp will attract Martial Artists from all over the Northwestern States of the US as well as the world. It is a gathering of Martial Artists to not only share their knowledge but to also learn from others. SPECIAL GUESTS: (We will be adding more on our website.) Kwan JanG Nim Steven Voelker Founder of Pyong Hwa Kunin Tang Soo Do and Co-Founder of the United States Goodwill Tang Soo Do Association. Kwan Jang Nim Voelker is a 7th degree black belt in Tang Soo Do, a 5th degree black belt in Shio Karano Jiu Jitsu, and a 1st degree black belt in Judo. Master Jim Fernette 5th Degree Tang Soo Do Black Belt Master Fernette has studied Tang Soo Do for 35 years and is in the top 10 ranking American Tang Soo Do Association Master Black Belts. Master Fernette is known for spectacular technique and a practical teaching style. PROFESSOR TREVOR PRANGLEY Owner and head coach at Trevor Prangley s AKA Professor Prangley has competed in the UFC, Stikeforce, and Shark Fights and is currently the lightweight champion of King of the Cage. He is a former All American wrestler at North Idaho College and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt. Professor Prangley is known internationally and is respected by his peers as a fierce opponent as well as a man of integrity. He also authors Violence in the Workplace Education, Prevention and Mitigation. Dave is also a former professional champion kickboxer and a Karate Black Belt. 3 Here s the weekend at a glance: Friday, August 15th Location: Black Bear Martial Arts Center. 5:00-8:00 pm Meet-n-greet, camp sign-in, light hors d oeuvres, followed by individual and school demonstrations. Welcome to Sandpoint! Saturday, August 16th Location: Sandpoint City Beach Park. 9:00 am-1:00 pm Bow-in ceremony followed by seminars. 1:00 pm Lunch and break-out sessions or choose to enjoy the park! 3:30-5:30 pm Afternoon seminars. 6:00 pm BBQ dinner on the beach. Sunday, August 17th Location: Sandpoint City Beach Park. 10:00 am Bow-in followed by Massive and Mixed Martial Arts taught by instructors of different disciplines mixed into one awesome class. This will probably be the largest single class you have attended all year! 12:00-1:00 pm Seminars. 1:00 pm Closing ceremony. 5 Accommodations & Location: Sandpoint, Idaho is routinely rated as one of the best resort towns in North America. Pristine beaches, a 47-mile long lake surrounded by mountains, and many trails for hiking, biking and running opportunities. You can also rent boats, kayaks and enjoy summer events on Lake Pend Oreille, Sandpoint is only a one hour and fifteen minute drive from Spokane International Airport! The location of the camp is Sandpoint s City Beach Park. There is an RV site but no tent camping. The area has many fine hotels, motels, RV parks and campgrounds. Master Jim Fernette, 5th Degree Master Black Bear s seminars are very organized and well-run. I always learn new and valuable information, and I ll take any reason to go to Sandpoint. It s beautiful! My young daughters train at Black Bear, too, and we all learned so much from the seminar weekend with Grand Master Byrne in September ATA Masters are true teachers. Eldon Renner, Kenjitsu black belt and instructor, ATA red belt, Sandpoint, Idaho Black Bear s seminar weekends are excellent. Well-planned, well-run, very educational, and fun. And Sandpoint is absolutely beautiful! A great place to spend a weekend.
