2 Joint Lock Basics (A) Circular Wrist Lock Circle hand around opponents wrist and grab wrist. (Cross hand grip) Double Hand Wrist Lock Used to lock opponent s wrist or break away. (Cross hand grip) Bicep Arm Lock When punched, check block with same side hand, opposite hand bends elbow in to arm lock. Escape: Push up on opponent elbow. Straight Arm Bar Pressure is applied just below the elbow to control the opponent. Entry to arm bar can be from any grab. Counter Arm Bar When in the arm bar position, grab opponent hand, pull through and counter with Arm Bar. Gooseneck Apply this technique from a Straight Arm Bar. For a more secure lock, pin the opponent s thumb to their arm. Escape #1: Palm down. Escape #2: Push palm up, turn trapped hand to grab opponent, pull down to arm bar. Chicken Wing Be sure to maintain constant pressure on the opponent s wrist while applying this technique. Keep your opponent s arm tight to your body for a more effective lock. 5 Joint Lock Basics (B) Lunch Money Open hand and lift, other hand peels opponent off. (parallel grip) Shooting Gun Hand (webbing/shooting gun) circles around opponent arm. (parallel grip) Indian Burn Each hand moves in opposite circular directions. Bow Near hand presses opponent's hand to chest, Other hand pushes down with body. Nine Block When punched, nine block. Straight Arm Bar Pressure is applied just below the elbow to control the opponent. This can lead to the Hammerlock. Hammerlock For the basic application of the hammerlock, start with your opponent in a straight arm bar, As you apply the hammerlock, be sure to keep your opponent close to your body and pull back on his chin or shoulder to keep a solid hold on him. Escape # 1: Grab opponents elbow and pull up to lock elbow. This escape can be countered by a palm heel to their shoulder. Escape # 2: "Snake" free arm behind body into where opponent is locking arm. Counter Arm Bar When in the arm bar position, grab opponent hand, pull through and counter with Arm Bar. Eagle Wing Similar to the Arm Bar, except Pressure goes all the way up to the opponent's shoulder. 99
