2 AMERICAN SONG MOO KWAN ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION PACKAGE Initial Rank Recognition With Membership comes initial Rank Recognition, with a provisional Certificate and ID Card. You will then be assigned a training Mentor who will advise you, and provide training materials so you may prepare for your first formal test. Official School Charter Your Dojang (School) will receive a formal Dojang Charter which is valid for the same one-year period as your Initial Rank Recognition. It is renewable each year, without cost, as long as you participate in ASMKA activities, including ASMKA / WSMKA Rank Tests. Teaching Manuals and Supplies Training Material Support materials are provided FREE of charge via electronic media to all instructors, including updates. You simply take this to your printer and copy the number of sets needed for your school. Additional hard copy sets may be purchased, at cost. Rank Advancement During the first six months of Membership, you will receive training assistance at your school location, at a senior ASMKA member school, and/or at the ASMKA's Seowon Global Masters Academy in preparation for receipt of formal ranking. This advancement training will prepare you for World Song Moo Kwan Association and Kukkiwon certification. MARTIAL ARTS SUPPLIES Purchase quality martial arts supplies while protecting the Song Moo Kwan trademark. Receive greater discounts and higher margins, assuring greater savings passed on to your ever-growing student base. Page2 Instructor Certification Becoming an ASMKA/WSMKA Certified Instructor may be accomplished in multiple systems of training, however, your core training the 'original' Song Moo Kwan system is what will set you apart from those claiming this Legacy. Your success will be determined by your dedication to training. Your Mentor will help you succeed. Advertising & Promotion On a quarterly basis, the WSMKA will provide professional advertising (Brochures, Rack Cards, Fliers, Posters, etc.) for exclusive use by ASMKA Member Dojangs. Additional Video CD's will also be provided for internal school use and local advertising. This assistance also includes professional website design and maintenance. 3 ASMKA MISSION STATEMENT The American Song Moo Kwan Association exists to support the World Song Moo Kwan Association in uniting martial artists worldwide through promotion of uniformity, harmony, and professionalism; keeping intact the vision, spirit and integrity of Song Moo Kwan and Taekwondo founder, Supreme Grand Master Byung Jick Ro. ASMKA Chairman & President The American Song Moo Kwan Association was established by Grand Master Kirk Koskella in April of Grand Master Koskella has a personal legacy of training in Taekwondo and Hapkido from the 1970's by Song Moo Kwan legends, Grand Master Byung Hoon Park, and Grand Master Kim, Yong Kil. Grand Master Koskella s skills transcended to Kumdo and Kung Fu at the urging of his personal mentor and friend, Hapkido s Senior Grand Master Bong Soo Han. World Song Moo Kwan Appointment Grand Master Koskella served as WSMKA President from March 2014 to August 30, 2015, during its formative administrative reorganization. The American Song Moo Kwan Association was formally recognized by Senior Grand Master Ro, Hee Sang in On August 30, 2015, Grand Master Koskella received a continuing directive and Official Appointment as ASMKA Chairman and President from Supreme Grand Master Byung Jick Ro, with a continuing appointment to serve as WSMKA Administrative Director. ASMKA s Service to the WSMKA The ASMKA provides National Support for training seminar, camps and workshops; sets rank test and instructor certification dates; and, provides support materials, including technical manuals, advertising templates, business development services, including instructor Mentoring for all ASMKA / WSMKA member schools. Membership Materials All Membership Materials provided for the benefit of ASMKA Members remains the property of the ASMKA / WSMKA, in order to better serve the needs of a productive membership. Your responsibility is to train, teach, and receive Instructor support to achieve your personal goals. All materials provide are subject to copyright and may not be disseminated to third parties without direct written approval of the ASMKA. Website Recognition The ASMKA maintains a highly educated staff of Website designers, marketers, which are able to provide turn-key websites in a matter of days. Hosting capabilities are also provided to permit your complete focus on school membership and training. Curriculum & Advanced Seowon Training The ASMKA provides cutting-edge training programs for advancement from 1 st Degree to 8 th Degree Black Belt ranks. Our Mentoring program permits your direct training with any senior master of the Association. This training includes training free of charge for two weeks, every quarter at the ASMKA's 34,600 square foot Seowon Global Masters Academy in Mesa, Arizona. ASMKA University Affiliate Membership is provided for those schools established at colleges and universities promoting the Martial Arts with limited fees charged. AMERICAN SONG MOO KWAN ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP OATH Today I pledge fealty to the American Song Moo Kwan Association (ASMKA), acknowledging Song Moo Kwan as the original founding Kwan of today s Taekwondo, by Supreme Grand Master Ro, Byung Jick; I pledge fealty to the World Song Moo Kwan Association (WSMKA) in all aspects of my professional and private conduct; I pledge that I will learn and teach the techniques and curriculum established for the benefit of myself and my students in the advancement of traditional martial arts; upholding the traditions, technical prowess, and example to be set as a Member, Black Belt, Instructor and/or Master rank held in the ASMKA and WSMKA bodies. Of this I pledge, without disability, or reservation, that I am prepared to become a member of that honorable lineage known as Song Moo Kwan; and, that this Association shall embrace my primary allegiance to the martial arts in all my martial arts activities.
