2 2015 USAWKF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS GOLDEN STATE INTERNATIONAL WUSHU CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015 加州国际武术锦标赛 REGULATIONS GENERAL INFORMATION The 2015 United States Wushu-Kungfu Federation (USAWKF) National Championships and the Golden State Wushu International Wushu Championships will be held July 18-19, 2015, at Independence High School Gym in San Jose, CA, USA. The USAWKF National Championships are hosted by the USAWKF and organized by Li s Wushu Academy. The Golden State International Wushu Championships began in The tournament is officially sanctioned by USAWKF and organized by the National Tai Chi Wellness Foundation (NTCWF) and Li's Wushu Academy. The Championships are open to national and international competitors, including traditional and contemporary wushu, Shaolin and tai chi quan. Also included are group competition events, an all-around championship, and Health Qigong competition events. Dates: July 18-19, 2015 Place: DATES AND PLACE Independence High School, 701 N Jackson Avenue, San Jose, CA Registration: May 1 June 20, 2015 ELIGIBILITY USAWKF National Championships Tournament Eligible competitors must be current USAWKF members in good standing. USAWKF National Judge Certification Course To be certified as a USAWKF National Judge, the registrant must be a current USAWKF member and must be either a U.S. citizen or a legal, permanent resident of the U.S., or have a valid work permit. Golden State International Wushu Championships All U.S. and international competitors and teams are welcome. USAHQF Health Qigong National Team Trials Eligible competitors must be either a U.S. citizen or a legal, permanent resident of the U.S., or have a valid work permit. -1-

3 COMPETITION EVENTS AND GROUPINGS (For detailed event information, refer to the event chart.) Age Groupings: All age categories are based on the year beginning January 1 and ending on December 31. Individual Event Age Categories (including Qigong, Tai Chi and Wushu) Group 1: Group 2: Group 3: Group 4: Group 5: Group 6: Group 7: Group 8: 6 years old and under, male or female, born in 2009 or later, Group # (M1/F1) 7-9 years old, male or female, born in , Group # (M2/F2) years old, male or female, born in , Group # (M3/F3) years old, male or female, born in , Group # (M4/F4) years old, male or female, born in , Group # (M5/F5) years old, male or female, born in , Group # (M6/F6) years old male or female, born in , Group # (M7/F7) 56 years old & over, male or female, born before 1959, Group #(M8/F8) All-Around Championship Traditional and/or Contemporary Wushu All-Around Group A: All-Around Group B: All-Around Group C: All-Around Group D: All-Around Group E: 12 years old and under, male or female years old, male or female years old, male or female years old, male or female 56 years old and above, male or female [NOTE regarding Category D and E eligibility: Any athlete registered in Traditional and/or Contemporary Wushu, competing in at least one bare-hand form and one weapon event, is eligible to apply for the All-Around Championship on the registration form.] All-Around Championship Health Qigong and Tai Chi All-Around Group F: All-Around Group G: All-Around Group H: 25 years old and under, male or female years old, male or female 56 years old and above, male or female Separate and Combined Groups If a competition age group is fewer than four people, it will be combined with another higher age group or with a similar event group. If a competition group is more than ten people, the group will be divided into A and B groups by close age range. Group Events An entry into a group event requires a minimum of six participants. There are no age or gender restrictions for group events, and individuals may compete in more than one group event. -2-

4 Time Requirements: Traditional Forms, Group Kung Fu, Duilian Fight Set: less than 2 minutes. Contemporary Wushu (NanDu): 1 minute 20 seconds. Beginning forms or under 18 years old: no time limit. Tai Chi Hand-Form series, Group Tai Chi series, Health Qigong Form series: 4-6 minutes. The head judge will blow a whistle when the athlete reaches five minutes. Tai Chi Weapons: 3-4 minutes. The head judge will blow a whistle when the athlete reaches three minutes. No deduction made if the athlete cannot finish entire form within 6 minutes. Music Requirements: All group events require music. Music used for events shall not have narration or vocals. All individual Tai Chi and Health Qigong related music will be randomly chosen by the judging panel. COMPETITION RULES Golden State Championships will be conducted in accordance with the 2005 International Wushu Competition Rules endorsed by the IWUF, all Traditional events shall adopt the 2006 Guidelines published by the China Wushu Management Center, and the updated regulations. Health Qigong Tournament shall adopt the Health Qigong Demonstration and Exchange Competition Scoring Guidelines and Standards authorized by the China Health Qigong Management Center and the updated regulations. The power of interpretation of the rules for contemporary wushu events rests solely with the IWUF. In the event of disagreement regarding the interpretation of the Rules, the Chinese Text shall prevail. RANKINGS AND AWARDS USAWKF National Championships and Golden State International Wushu Championships Tournament ranking is from the highest to the lowest competition score. If 10 or more participants compete in an event, the top eight athletes will be awarded a ranking certificate. Should an event have fewer than ten participants, the two lowest ranking participants will be eliminated. For events fewer than five participants, one participant will be eliminated. Participants with tied scores will receive the same ranking certificate. For individual competitors, the top three highest scoring athletes will receive a trophy. All-Around Events All-Around Champion trophies will be awarded to the top three individual athletes after obtaining the highest score and ranking from two or three individual competitions (refer to the specific registration requirements for the All-Around Competition). -3-

5 Group events The top three groups will receive group trophies, and all members of the winning groups will receive certificates. REGISTRATION All participants registering in any competition event must handle their own accident insurance. A waiver form must be signed, and every participant must agree to the terms before entering the online registration system. No registrations will be accepted after the deadline. Participants must notify the Organizing Committee of any changes at least 15 days prior to the event. There is a $20 US charge for each change. Each group or school shall select one team leader and up to two coaches. IDs will be issued to all team leaders, coaches and athletes, and they are not required to purchase admission tickets. IDs shall be picked up and distributed by the team leader or group organizer. Any group with 15 or more members is eligible to nominate one certified judge (or a person who can certify his/her experiences in judging). Such judge or person will be assigned upon approval from the Organizing Committee. Athletes shall have the opportunity to draw lots online via an independent third party randomizing selection application 15 days prior to the tournament. Registered competitors are to sign in to gowushu.com on Friday, July 3, 2015 between 9:00AM and 5:00PM Eastern Daylight Time to draw their lots for each registered event. Competitors who do not select their lots will be randomly assigned the remaining slots after July 3 5:00PM EDT. Individual athletes shall pick up their IDs at the check-in desk. FEES Individual competition and Duilian registration fees are $70 US per person (includes first event) and $20 for each additional event, group competition registration fee is $20 US per person, and the All-Around Competition registration fee is $30 US per person. Competition spectator tickets are $15 each day. Children under 10 are free. The Masters Demonstration is not included with this ticket. Masters Demonstration tickets are $15 each. Children under 10 years old are free. This event will be held Saturday, July 18 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Independence High School Gym. Athletes, coaches and team leaders are admitted free of additional charges to the competition and Masters Demonstration. Wristbands will be given with the event ID for access to the venue. -4-

6 REGISTRATION PROCEDURES Online Registration: Groups or individuals may use the quick and easy online registration system. Website: General Registration: Team leaders or school coaches may collect all individual or group registration forms and fees and submit them together by fax or mail. Registration time frame: Registration opens May 1, 2015, and closes on June 20, ADMINSTRATION OF THE COMPETITION The Organizing Committee will administer all aspects of the competitions. All participating athletes are required to attend the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. It is recommended that participating groups, teams or athletes prepare the following: a copy of the Confirmation of Registration from the website; self-selected music in the form of a CD or ipod for events that require it; and an appropriate team uniform. OFFICIAL HOTEL The event hotel is the Fairfield Inn & Suites, Marriott San Jose Airport. The group room rate is $109/night plus tax. A breakfast buffet, free parking and Wi-Fi are included. The hotel has a free shuttle to and from the San Jose Airport.
