2 1 ST ANNUAL GULF AAU HANMADANG INVITITIONAL Dear Masters, Instructors, Coaches, and Athletes, We are pleased to announce the 1 st Annual Gulf AAU Hanmadang Invitational. We are very excited about our new event; it gives kids and adults the chance to show their technical talents besides sparring. They will be able to perform in a variety of events, Traditional Forms, Team Forms, Demo Team Forms, Creative Forms, Power Breaking, Multi Station Board Breaking and Olympic Sparring. For those competitors who love to spar we still have your event. This year s event will be hosted by ALL-STAR MARTIAL ARTS and AKA SPORTS ACADEMY. The top three competitors in each division will be awarded AAU medals. This year s tournament will be held on Saturday, February 5 th, 2011 at Faith West Christian Academy, 2225 Porter Rd., Katy, Texas All tournament applications must be received by February 3 rd, Though the receipt date is February 3rd, please submit entries as soon as possible since all bracketing will be done prior to the tournament date. Applications taken at the door will be accepted with a $25.00 late fee. Officials, Coaches, and Athletes must be AAU members and be dressed in accordance with the official AAU TaeKwonDo rules. Questions about membership and attire can be addressed on the AAU website. Please be ready to present your 2011 AAU membership card at the door upon request. Along these lines, tournament rules will also follow those posted on the AAU website. For those who have yet to attend a 2011 official s clinic, there will be one on Saturday, January 15 th, 2011 at 9:00am. The clinic will be held at ALL-STAR MARTIAL ARTS. 4 COMPETITORS MUST HAVE CURRENT AAU CARD-CARD MUST BE RENEWED BY SEPTEMBER 1, It is important that the following forms are completed and returned together: 1. Competitor s Application(s) 2. Waiver Form The Local Organizing Committee (LOC), along with the AAU has spent many hours planning and preparing for this AAU Event. In order to make it a great success, we are asking for your cooperation. It is the responsibility of the parents, coach, instructor and athlete to insure that the application is in on time and complete. Incomplete applications (missing age, belt, weight etc.) WILL BE REJECTED. When completing the application, be sure to give the correct age, weight and rank as of August 31, It is your responsibility to insure that our weight matches the weight class you listed on your application-failure TO MAKE WEIGHT WILL RESULT IN YOUR DISQUALIFICATION FROM SPARRING. AGE DETERMINING DATE: Athletes shall compete at their age as of August 31, 2011 AAU MEMBERSHIP: All athletes, coaches, and officials MUST be individual members of the AAU and be able to present their membership card at the time of their check-in or purchase a new one at that time. All officials must also have in their possession the current handbook that may be ordered through the National Sports Chairman or online at All contestants must wear a clean WHITE Dobok only. Equipment -- Per 2011 AAU TKD Handbook NOTE: White cloth athletic tape may be worn to support previously injured appendages as well as to protect any uninjured areas from becoming injured. Areas allowed to be taped include: fingers, thumb, wrist and toes. This tape may be wrapped no more than two times around the appendage, and cannot be used in such a way as to prevent or severely restrict the movement thereof.
