13th World Class Martial Arts Dear Masters, Instructors, Students, and Families, It is my pleasure to announce the 13th World Class Martial Arts to be held Saturday, May 21st.

This year, as a way of connecting our competition even more closely with the spirit behind Tae Kwon Do, we will be utilizing a competition theme. This year s theme is We are All Winners Here!

The purpose of competition is not to simply determine a victor, but to encourage all competitors to bring out their best effort and grow as a result.

As always, my staff and I are pursuing detailed preparations to ensure a safe and fair competition for everyone.

2 13th World Class Martial Arts Dear Masters, Instructors, Students, and Families, It is my pleasure to announce the 13th World Class Martial Arts to be held Saturday, May 21st. in the Gymnasium at Union High School in Camas, Washington. This year, as a way of connecting our competition even more closely with the spirit behind Tae Kwon Do, we will be utilizing a competition theme. This year s theme is We are All Winners Here!!! I think it is a great representation of the attitude behind this friendly and beneficial event, as well as a reminder of the challenges of daily Tae Kwon Do training. The purpose of competition is not to simply determine a victor, but to encourage all competitors to bring out their best effort and grow as a result. Similarly, our Tae Kwon Do training is not designed only to achieve a specific rank, but to continually strive to improve in body, mind and spirit. As always, my staff and I are pursuing detailed preparations to ensure a safe and fair competition for everyone. WA (360) Who: Eligibility: Divisions: Registration: Awards: Competitor ID Cards: Spectators & Tickets: We have invited all Martial arts schools and students to participate in this event Students must be white belt and above to compete in forms and team forms and yellow belt and above to compete in sparring. Competitors of any age are welcome. Divisions may be separated by age, belt, weight and gender, as the tournament committee deems necessary for fair competition. Registration forms are available at the school and are included in this packet. The registration deadline is May 13th, but early registration is strongly encouraged. Applications received after May 13th will be charged an additional $20 dollar late registration fee. No applications will be accepted after May 18th(Wed.). Most divisions will have 4 competitors. There will be a 1 st place (Gold), 2 nd place (Silver) and two 3 rd places (bronze) awarded. For form and sparring competition, the winners of the first two matches will compete for 1 st and 2 nd places. The remaining two competitors of the first matches will both receive third place wards. Awards will be presented throughout the day as divisions are completed. ID card will be available for pick up at the tournament site on Saturday morning after 8:30am. The Gym has stadium style seating for all spectators. 3 World Class Marital Arts Open Rules for May 21,2016 IDIVIDUAL FORM COMPETITION 1. Most divisions will have 4 competitors. The tournament committee will divide the Form divisions by BELT and AGE. 2. This is an open championship. If your school practices a different style of forms they will be accepted. 3. Forms divisions in single elimination bracket format. Forms competitors may perform the same or different Forms. Competitors will be judged on power, speed, control, flexibility, stance, focus, rhythm, Kihap TEAM & PAIR FORM COMPETITION (Team & Pair) 1. Team(pair) members must have matching uniforms and have at least two members (but not more than 5) 2. Divisions and Form performed will be based on the lowest belt rank on the team 3. Awards will be given only to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. 4. Team(Pair) Forms will be judged on the same criteria as individual Forms, but also include group presentation, rhythm, and unity of team (pair) performance. IDIVIDUAL USAT-FORM COMPETITION(Sport Poomsae) 1. Divisions will have all competitors as one group by ages and only Black Belt available for the USAT-Poomsae competition. The tournament committee will divide the Form divisions by AGES. 2. Follow the Rules form USA Taekwondo Poomsae competition regulations GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP 1. Divisions will have Black belt ages 7 to 13(youth) and ages 14 & above 2. Judged by Masters and judged on power, speed, control, flexibility, stance, focus, rhythm, Kihap 3. No particular Form required DEMO TEAM COMPETITION 1. Teams have 120 seconds (2 minutes) to set up. 2. Teams have a 6 minute time limit, not including time for set-up. 3. Only martial arts weapons are allowed. 4. Team member must be 3 rd Degree Black Belt and Lower. 5. The following will complete each team s score: Deduction from 100points 1) Unity of Team Performance(25 points) 2) Taekwondo Spirit(25 points) - Kihap, Attitude confidence, assertiveness, Etiquette proper respect 3) Presentation & Execution of Techniques(25 points) 4) Creativity(25 points) 5) Deductions - Team exceeds the 120-second time limit for setup ( 5 point deduction each 30 second) - Team exceeds the 6min 30 sec time limit (10 point deduction for each 30second ) - Unsportsmanlike conduct (10 point deduction ) BOARDS BREAKING COMPETITION 1. Competition will be judged on power, speed, control, flexibility, completed breaking and presentation. Breaking technique can be done with foot and(or) hand combined 2. Set up time : One minute ( 0.5 Deduct for every 5 seconds) 3. Each competitor must provide their own Boards and Holders. 4. Boards MUST be Purchased at the tournament site to ensure safety 5. Breaking Boards: Demo boards for all competitors (Ages 6. Beginner must break a minimum 2 boards, Intermediate must break a minimum 4 boards, Advanced and Black belt must break a minimum 6 boards Obstacle Course (ONLY FOR TINY TIGERS ages 4 to 6) 1. Practice round will be provided right before competition starts 2. All competitor will earn a medal and 3 black stripes 3. Winners will earn a Beautiful World Class T-shirt SPARRING COMPETITION Belt #of Rest Period Time Rounds All Color Belts-All Ages 2 1 min. 30 sec. All Black Belts All Ages 3 1 min 30Sec. 30 sec. Warnings and Deductions The referee declares Kal-yeo when the following prohibited acts are committed: 8 warnings or 4 deductions = disqualification Warnings (Kyong Go - ½ point) Crossing The Boundary Line Evading by turning the back to the opponent Falling down Avoiding the match Grabbing, holding or pushing the opponent Attacking below the waist Pretending injury Butting or attacking with the knee Hitting the opponent s face with the hand Uttering undesirable remarks or any misconduct on the part of a contestant or coach Lifting the knee to avoid attack or to impede the progress on an attack Deductions (Gam Jeum -1 point) Attacking opponent after Kal-yeo Attacking the fallen opponent Intentionally attacking the opponents face with the hand Throwing down the opponent by grappling the opponents attacking foot in the air with the arm or by pushing the opponent with the hand Interrupting the progress of the match on the part of a contestant or a coach Violent or extreme remarks or behavior on the part of a contestant or coach COMPUTER SCORING WILL BE USED AT THIS COMPETITION. VALID POINTS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS: 1. ONE (1) POINT FOR A VALID TRUNK KICK OR PUNCH TO THE TRUNK PROTECTOR 2. TWO (2) POINTS FOR A VALID TURNING KICK WITH TURN OR JUMP TO PROTECTOR 3. TWO (2) POINTS FOR A VALID CONTROLLED HEAD KICK(13 and above / Black belt) Head kick have to be proper contact to earned point (No point for just touch the head gear) HIGH SECTION(HEAD KICK) NOT ALLOWD ALL COLOR BELT NOTE: Inability to continue because of fright, crying, or loss of will does not constitute grounds for disqualification of the attacker.
