1 Canada West Invitational Judo Championships Saturday, December 9 th, 2017 The Burnaby Judo Club cordially invites all Judoka to participate in the 2017 Canada West Invitational Judo Championships for Children, Junior, Senior and Veteran Categories. This is a qualifying tournament for Senior Nationals and an evaluation tournament for Provincial A/B/C/D referees. Note: Junior, Senior, and Veteran Divisions may start earlier if the previous Divisions have been completed. Training Camp: 09:00 11:00. General Admission: By donation.

2 Entry Fees and Registration: $50.00 for Juniors, Seniors, and Veteran Divisions. $25 per additional Division. $30.00 for U-10, U-12. Registration Fees must be paid online using PayPal via the PayPal button on the Burnaby Judo Club Canada West Invitational Tournament page. A link to this page will also be in your registration confirmation and on the registration submission and registration confirmation pages. All entries are to be made using the CWIJC Online Registration Form ( ). The link to the registration form is also posted on the 2017 Canada West Invitational Tournament website ( ). The Online Registration for the tournament closes on Sunday December 3 rd, 2017 at Midnight. No Entries will be accepted after the online registration closes. No refunds of the tournament fee(s) after the online registration closes. Eligibility: All competitors must be members in good standing with their respective Judo Associations. Proof of membership IS REQUIRED and must be provided at the time of the weigh-in. White Belts will only be allowed for the U-10 and U-12 Newaza competition. Yellow Belt (Rank) is the minimum rank allowed to compete in the Junior and Senior Age and Weight Divisions. Waiver: All competitors will be required to electronically agree (sign) the waiver of liability before proceeding with the rest of the online registration. Competitors aged under 19 years old must have the waiver completed and electronically signed by a parent/guardian at the time of registration.

3 Rules: Judo Canada Tournament Policy Standards & Sanctions will apply: Note: Blue and White Judogis are required for U16 and above. Modified Double Knockout format will be used in categories where 6 or more competitors are registered. Round Robin draw format will be used in categories where 5 or less competitors are registered, and for the U-10 and U-12 Age and Weight Divisions if needed to maximize the number of matches for the two children divisions (U-10 and U-12). In the case of any tie, points will be used to determine standings. Any category where one or two competitors are registered, the registered competitors may be given the opportunity to compete in the next higher division at the discretion of the Tournament Director, who shall consider safety in his decision. The athlete will only be permitted to compete in the next higher weight class if a waiver is signed by both the parent (if 19 years of age or younger) and the athlete s coach. In the case where there are only two competitors and they do NOT wish to move up into the next weight division, they shall compete for a best two out of three result. In the case where there is only one competitor and they do NOT wish to move up into the next weight division, the division will be cancelled and that individual will have her/his entry fee refunded. IJF rules apply, except: Minimum rest period shall be 5 minutes instead of 10 minutes (Rest period does not apply to contestants fighting in multiple categories) No Kansetsu-Waza or Shime-Waza will be allowed in any competition involving orange or yellow belts. If a yellow or orange belt is competing against a higher belt, the referee will notify the competitors that there will be no Kansetsu-Waza or Shime- Waza for that match. 4 Children White Belt Divisions: There will be a Newaza only format for white belt children in the U-10 and U-12 Divisions. U-10, U-12: Matches will be 2 minutes running time. In cases where a competitor dominates, by scoring three Ippons, the referee will halt the bout. Competition among children whose body weight does not differ more than 15% of the weight of the lightest participant in a designated category will be grouped together. U-10, U-12, U-14 Boys and Girls: The Referee shall stop the match in the following situations: when shime-waza or kansetsu-waza is attempted, or when a head-lock throw is attempted, or when a drop seoi-nage, tani-otoshi, or makikomi waza are attempted IJF gripping rules apply. Weigh-In: The Weigh-in for all Age Groups and Divisions is will take place on Friday December 8 th, 2017 at the Bonsor Recreation Complex, Second Floor. All competitors must weigh-in at the stipulated times noted on the division list: - U-10 and U-12 Age and Weight Divisions: 5:00-7:00 pm. - U-16 and U-18 Age and Weight Divisions: 7:00-8:00 pm. - U 21, Senior, and Veteran Age and Weight Divisions: 8:00-9:00 pm. No weigh-ins will be allowed after 9:00 pm Friday December 8 th, 2017 unless authorized by the Tournament Registrar. Note: All participants from Canada must come to weigh-in with their Judo Canada Membership Card. U-16 and older must also bring photo ID. The Judo Canada passport is NOT EQUIVALENT and NOT ACCEPTABLE as it does NOT show proof of current year membership Foreign/International competitors must bring a current membership card of their Association, and U-16 and older must also bring photo ID.

7 Cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to arrival date and no-shows will be charged one night room and tax to their credit card. Group code: Burnaby Judo Club CANCELLATION OF ROOM RESERVATIONS Guests are responsible for paying for their own accommodations. Deposits (taken either in cash or by credit card) are refunded or credited only if notice is received 24 hours prior to arrival date and cancellation number must be obtained by guest. Cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to arrival date and no-shows will be charged one night room and tax to their credit card. PARKING Complimentary parking for the first 3 hours is available in the underground parkade in Red, Brown and Green zones on P1, P2, P3 and P4, $2.50 each half hour or portion to a maximum of $11.00 per day plus applicable tax. The parkade is accessible off Kingsborough Street. There is a Blue Zone located on each level and parking in this zone is reserved for overnight/valet service hotel guests only. Guests must register their vehicle s license plate at the front desk. Access to the Hotel Lobby via stairs or elevator is located in the Blue zone. Overnight self-parking and daytime valet parking are available at $16.00 inclusive of tax per day. Overnight valet parking is available at a charge of $21.00 inclusive of tax. Offsite parking is available for over-height vehicles. The clearance of the parkade is 6 6.
