5 Members We Will Miss Shawn Sullivan Shawn Sullivan, a shooter with the Torrington team, passed away on December 7 th 2013 at the age of 51 after a long battle with lymphoma. Shawn was born in Waterbury, October 7, He graduated from the machine tool program of W.F. Kaynor Technical School in He subsequently earned his journeyman papers in progressive fourslide toolmaking from the Fabor Fourslide Corp. Shawn continued his education on a part time basis and earned an Associates Degree in mechanical technology from Waterbury State Technical College, a Bachelor s Degree in mechanical engineering from Bridgeport Engineering Institute, and, finally, a Master of Science Degree in mechanical engineering from The Worcester Polytechnic Institute in May of He earned his Ct. State Professional Engineering license in September of After leaving the Fabor Fourslide Corp., Shawn held various engineering positions at the Westport International Corp. in Orange, and finished his career at the Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. in Stratford as an airframe engineer. His lifelong interest in the shooting sports eventually led him to compete in the National matches at Camp Perry, Ohio, for several years as a member of the Ct. State Pistol Team. He was a member of the Chase Rifle and Pistol Assoc., The Torrington Gun Club, and The Northwest Ct. Sportsman s Assoc., and a former member of the Thomaston RC Club. Page 5

22 Tony Christina Award Tony Christina Died May 19, 1968 Foreword Tony Christina possessed outstanding qualities in the pursuit of his avocation - Pistol shooting and competition: He was an even-tempered, extremely dependable, honest and forthright individual. He was not one to seek recognition in any way, for his endeavors, but rather was often embarrassed with plaudits afforded him. Tony was rich in friends and possessed a humility unparalleled in the league. Qualifications 1. The person selected must have demonstrated an unstinting willingness to help new shooters to achieve in their marksmanship endeavors. 2. A person who could never say No to any job, no matter how big or how small, selected for him to accomplish. 3. A person possessing a ready smile, jovial word and a dependability, second to none. 4. A person who would accept unequivocally, any office and fulfill any position and attend any committee function assigned to him by his fellow club and State organization members. 5. A person, who, on many occasions, doesn t wait to be asked to do a job, but rather initiates the endeavor himself for the betterment of the shooting fraternity, in general. The Tony Christina Award in no way, conflicts with the coveted Arnold Goodwin Award. The Christina award is not confined to Club functions, but rather encompasses the entire shooting fraternity throughout the State of Connecticut and its connections with National events.
