16 Lean philosophy is not a productivity model. It is an employee engagement model. It is designed to maximize the engagement of the employee. 20 A Definition of Culture A pattern of shared basic assumptions, values, behaviors, and artifacts that the group learned and adopted as it solved its challenges of external adaptation and internal integration, that has worked well enough to be considered valid and, therefore, to be taught (often implicitly) to new members as the way to perceive, think, feel and behave in relation to those challenges.
