3 The 2017 line of SE Bikes commemorates our 40th year anniversary. It s amazing to think that four decades have gone by since the godfather of BMX, Scot Breithaupt, created Scot Enterprises SE Racing and that we ve been gettin rad ever since. At the birth of SE Racing in 1977, BMX was a fledgling sport. It went on to become a national craze in the U.S. during the 1980s with tracks popping up all over the country and scores of families getting in on the fun and excitement of BMX. Over the years the sport has ebbed and flowed and many trends have come and gone. Today's BMX has expanded into many different disciplines and has received mainstream recognition that includes being featured in the X-Games for 22 years as well as being a sport in the last three Olympics. At SE, we ve seen it all and we ve been there every step of the way, developing new and innovative products year after year. Under the guidance of SE s brand manager and BMX legend, Todd Lyons, the SE brand has continued to flourish and grow. Not many other bike companies can make that claim. There is no doubt that the SE of today is bigger and stronger than ever and it s evident in our 2017 model line. We have 27 different models in the BMX line including race bikes, dirt/street/park bikes, kids bikes, and our ever-popular retro BMX bikes. 6 Elite Race When organized BMX racing burst onto the cycling scene in the 1970s, SE Racing was the first company to produce a high-end aluminum BMX frame. The ground-breaking frame would become the PK Ripper, which has been in production longer than any other BMX bike in the world. The jaw-dropping PK Ripper debuted in the late '70s, right when BMX racing became a nationwide craze. The PK Ripper frame design has always been unique and purposeful with super-stiff floval (flat + oval = floval) tubing used for the front instead of standard round tubing found on other brands' bikes. Floval tubing continues to be used for the top tube on all bikes in the Elite Race series, while the down tubes are now wider-diameter and bi-oval shaped for even greater stiffness. The Elite Racer series starts with the Mini Ripper for the little tykes all the way up to the Floval Flyer for the larger, cruiser-class racers. 26 Retro SE Racing was at the forefront of the first BMX boom in the late '70s and early '80s with unique and ground-breaking bikes like the PK Ripper and Quadangle. These and other famous oldschool SE bikes have now been recreated and transformed into various models with 16", 20", 24", 26" and even 29" wheel sizes. SE's Retro BMX bikes of today have the same legendary design aesthetics that made them famous in the '80s, but are now built with modern geometry and upgrades like 1 1/8" threadless headsets and V-brakes. The Retro BMX line was originally created for old-school BMX enthusiasts, but the audience for the SE Retro line has grown organically and the bikes are now in demand for all types of riders regardless of their age, history or knowledge of SE's history. 29 STR-29 QUADANGLE 29" RETRO N New Model Before the Quadangle there was the STR-1 that dates back to the late 1970s when Stu Thomsen was SE Racing's National #1 pro and BMX's first superstar. His signature frame at the time was the Stu Thomsen Replica-1. Features & Benefits The 6066 aluminum PK Ripper Super Elite frames come equipped with a Floval top tube, bi-oval down tube, 20mm slots on the rear dropouts, and include chain tensioner adapter plates which can easily be used with 20mm, 15mm, or 3/8 axles. The PK Ripper Super Elite bottom brackets have been upgraded from Euro to PF30. This allows for a wider diameter, 30mm hollow spindle that is undeniably stiffer and lighter. The integrated head tube is now tapered from 1 1/8" on the top to 1.5" on the bottom. This accommodates a tapered steerer tube fork, which adds incredible stiffness and stability to the front end. The Floval Flyer frames are built with super strong & lightweight 6066 aluminum and of course come equipped with a Floval top tube and bioval down tube.
