The meeting starts at 7:30; doors open at 7:00. All members are invited and urged to attend both meetings. Member and Board Meetings The NPD has scheduled a room for the NSC to use for our Member and Board meetings. We are meeting at the Riverwalk Community Center in room #205 on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM throughout the duration of the site improvement project Annual Dinner and Raffle The 2014 Annual Dinner and Raffle were held on June 21 st at Seager Park. The weather turned bad but we were under the Picnic Pavilion and held the raffles without incident. The food was fabulous again this year and we had plenty of premium beer to quench our thirsts. The Raffle winners were: Bob Beyer 1 st prize, Bill Luther 2 nd prize, Mike Morgan 3 rd prize and Art Jablonski 4 th prize. Rob Noetzel sold the most tickets (110) again this year. A huge thank you to all of the members that helped set up and tear down the event. Next year s Annual Dinner is scheduled for June 20, 2015 at Seager Park (we really liked it there). Thursday Night Meeting Place The NPD has scheduled a room for the NSC to use on Thursday evenings when the clubhouse is closed for site improvements. We can use the lounge at the Riverwalk Community Center on Thursday evenings throughout the duration of the site improvement project. We have also been using the game room to play pool and ping pong. It is available from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Downers Grove The great folks at the Downers Grove Sportsman s Club are allowing us to shoot at members rates until the end of the year. Bring your NSC badge and FOID card. Make sure you familiarize yourself with their safety rules and abide by them. Jim Monk President

2 NSC has 9 shooters at Illinois State shoot, bring home 3 trophies; Calhoun recognized for state team achievement! NSC had nine members participate in this year s Illinois State Trapshooting championships. The state shoot is held at Brittany Shooting Park in Bunker Hill. Bunker Hill is located about 30 minutes southwest of Litchfield, just south of Springfield. The Illinois state shoot runs for six days, with the championship events being contested the last three days. The state doubles championship is held on Friday, the singles championship on Saturday, and the handicap championship on Sunday. The facility has 24 trap fields for the events, along with a practice trap. Mike Moore and Scott Calhoun shot the entire program this year, consisting of 1,400 targets (600 singles, 500 handicap, 300 doubles). Ray Wieser was also there the entire week and shot all but one handicap event. Jud Mann, Art Jablonski, Tom Clark, Denny Mills, Ralph Nelson, and Bob Ash all shot at least a couple of days during the week. The entire Naperville group, along with our friend Barry Turner from Nova Scotia, was around on Wednesday even for a group dinner (see picture) at the Ariston Café on Route 66 in Litchfield. We were fortunate again this year to have good weather thru the entire program. Rain threatened on Tuesday but never materialized, and there was just a brief sprinkle of rain on Wednesday afternoon. Shooting was halted on Thursday late in the afternoon due to thunderstorms, but all of the Naperville shooters had completed the program for the day. There were some overnight rains that made the grounds a little muddy, but the shooters at least were able to stay dry for the entire week. Trophies Mike Moore and Scott Calhoun both brought home trophies from the shoot. Mike won two trophies on the opening day, recording a perfect score of 100 in the preliminary singles event to win the AA Class trophy. He followed that up later in the afternoon with a 99 in the preliminary doubles event to win the A Class trophy. On Thursday during the Class Singles championship, Scott posted a pair of 99 s for a 198 total, which placed him in a three-way tie for the AA Class winner s trophy. The tie was broken based on scores from the next singles event, and Scott ended up with the runner-up trophy. State Team At the annual meeting of the state association on Friday night, members of the 2013 state teams were recognized. For the second year in a row, Scott Calhoun was recognized for making the Men s team. The Men s team is made up of the top 10 male shooters in the state, age 23 to 54, based on the shooters combined average in singles, handicap, and doubles. Shooters must register at least 2,500 singles targets, 2,000 handicap targets, and 1,500 doubles targets to be eligible. They must also shoot in a state zone shoot and shoot the championship events at the state shoot. Scott had a composite average of 92.53% on 2,900 singles, 2,900 handicap, and 2,200 doubles targets which placed him seventh on the team. Seated: Bob Ash, Jud Mann, Art Jablonski, Mike Moore. NSC shooters score 4 trophies at ATA Great Lakes Grand Five NSC members travelled to the ATA Great Lakes satellite grand in late May, with the group bringing home four trophies for their efforts.

The facility is about 20 miles south of Lansing, and has 40 trap fields for use in the competition. The event runs for five days, consisting of 13 events and 1,400 targets.

We were joined in Michigan by our friend Barry Turner from Nova Scotia who shot the entire program with the group from Naperville.

Fun at the NSC 2014 Annual Picnic The Great Lakes Grand is held at the Michigan Trapshooting Association home grounds in Mason, Michigan. The facility is about 20 miles south of Lansing, and has 40 trap fields for use in the competition. The event runs for five days, consisting of 13 events and 1,400 targets. Mike Moore, Jud Mann, and Scott Calhoun shot the entire program. Art Jablonski participated in the events the last three days, and Mike Stevens shot the targets on the final weekend. We were joined in Michigan by our friend Barry Turner from Nova Scotia who shot the entire program with the group from Naperville. Late May in Michigan is notorious for unpredictable weather, so packing for this shoot requires clothes for all four seasons. Fortunately the weather cooperated, and besides some cool mornings the rain gear and cold weather shooting apparel were never needed. Trophies Mike Moore and Scott Calhoun both had good weeks, bringing home two trophies each. Scott claimed the first trophy for the group on Thursday in the morning handicap, recording a score of 96 which earned him the trophy as 27-yard champion. Scott followed that up on Friday, winning the Single Class Championship AA-class winner s trophy with a 99. On Saturday in the Championship Singles, Mike flirted with his first 200 straight until a lost target on the last trap left him with a score of 199. That earned Mike the Sub Veteran (age 55-65) runner-up trophy. The last trophy of the week was also Mike s in the High Overall competition. His score of 934x1000 earned him 3 rd place in the Sub Veteran category. Scott Calhoun
