To determine your renewal date, check your mailing label, the top right corner is the month/yr your membership expires. 12 th Annual Drive In Movie Night and Cruise Saturday October 8 th BRAZOS DRIVE IN GRANBURY We will meet at the Park N Ride parking lot on the south side of I-20 and Park Springs in Arlington at 2:30 (map in this week s ). A stop in Granbury on the town square for a little shopping and check out the conclusion of the Brazos Valley Corvette Show, then over to Babe s Chicken Dinner House for supper at 5:30 before heading over to the drive in! This is a fun event so plan to join us for a great afternoon and evening of fun with your Chevy! And this event is open to all car clubs, makes and models of collector cars! Watch the club website for any weather announcements and see you Saturday! 18 th Annual Fall Foilage Tour hosted by the Tulsa Classic Chevy Club October in Bartlesville, Oklahoma Hotel Fairfield Inn (918) This is a great event that is held each year, hosted by a different club and this year the Tulsa club plays host. Expect some serious (or maybe not so serious) game playing at night like poker, dominoes, mexican train, chicken foot etc! The real draw is the Saturday cruising of the countryside! Bill & Diane Preston will be driving up from leaving about 9AM on Friday October 14 th for the 6 hour drive to Bartlesville so if you would like to join them for the drive up, give them a call at !

2 Page 2 of 5 Classic Heartbeat A friend of mine had this car for several years and gave up on the restoration, so I bought it. I certainly was not looking for another project and did not need it but an original Gypsy Red/Shoreline Beige 55 Bel Air hardtop is hard to turn down! I did a frame off restoration on it with a 327, 4 speed and 55 rear end. I had it back together and was about to crank it but I made a trip to Bakersfield, CA for the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion driving my black and white 55 Chevy (at the time it had a 408 small block in it and the most it ever got was 10 MPG with straight freeway driving but we had a blast!) I decided I wanted something more aggressive after seeing all the gassers in at the reunion so I came home and took the entire drive train out and put in a 396 big block, Tremec 5 speed tranny, 12 bolt Chevy rear end, changed the springs etc for the gasser look. The 396 is an engine my son bought about 15 years ago. It was a trick NHRA stock eliminator motor with Venolia pistons, trick crank and more. It had never been run so I put in a more aggressive solid lift cam, tunnel ram and two Holleys. The rear end is a 5:38 with Moroso positraction, Mark Williams axles and with the 5 speed tremec Continued on Page 5

Take a good look, take your best guess, then check on the DACC website s Chat Board link under the MISC section and there you will find the answer of WHO IS THAT PERSON? WRENCHES SUCCESS STORY! Wow last month a big turnout of club members came to learn how to color sand and buff a paint job. With the help of our WRENCHES volunteers led by Don Andre and Bill Preston along with help from Josh Ottmann of Ottmann Detailing ( the WRENCHES tackled this task on Geoff Clark s 55 Handyman Wagon. A full day s effort went into the project and Geoff left with the confidence that he could complete the job at hand with all the excellent instruction and hands on learning that took place. It was just a week later that Geoff went to the 36 th Annual LAST RUN Car Show in Arkansas City, Kansas where over 900 cars attended and Geoff s 55 took BEST PAINT THANKS TO WRENCHES!! Geoff also took Best GM! Congrats to Geoff and thanks to all the WRENCHES who took part in this great session on color sanding! Got a photo to share from the past? Reliable Chevrolet hosts DACC s Fall Show in Richardson A great turnout of beautiful Tri Five Chevys came out for what was a beautiful day in September after the record heat of June, July and August. Thanks go to Reliable and all the staff for their hospitality (maybe the best hot dogs in Dallas!). Special thanks to all the club members who brought out their wonderful Chevy cars, trucks and vettes to the Reliable parking lot. While the turnout was a bit lower than in the past, there were still plenty of great Chevrolets for visitors to check out. And Dan Bunch kept the place hoping with great 50 s tunes using our new club sound system! Mark you calendar now for March 10th 2012 when we will return to Reliable for the Spring Classic Chevy Show! I hope to drive it on the street some when the mufflers are installed. I plan to go to hit the vintage races and other car shows with it. I have driven it some on the street on back roads and it is FUN to drive! I wanted something with an aggressive stance, aggressive look and aggressive sound. I think I accomplished my goal!
