6 I would like to participate in an SCCA Time Trials/Hill Climb regional program here in Arizona. I would most definitely participate in every event if there was a schedule that looked something like: Inde, Chuckwalla, WHP Main, AMP, Clifton, with a few repeats. I have found the organizations that run here to be lacking in the atmosphere and camaraderie that I'm used to seeing at SCCA events. Thank you for putting the time into surveying the community in an attempt to bring back a series for the region that racers will be happy with. It is appreciated. -Rocco Bocchicchio I just spent 4 years building a Spec Miata to SCCA rules. When I looked at my SCCA racing opportunities after the build, I noticed we weren't racing anymore in AZ. Hope we can pull together some events. Given the choice, I will support any SCCA event over any other racing organization event. And given the choice I will support an Arizona Region SCCA event over any other SCCA event. Seems you asked the same question twice( #s 1 & 2). That's the best the club can do is ask 4 questions to decide its future? I understand the problems of track availability in the Phoenix area, but Buttonwillow or Wilcox turns a 2 day weekend w/o lodging into 3 days with one or two overnights and a very long drive at the end. That makes participation very difficult. I have a full competition license, in the last 2 years I haven't raced in an SCCA event because the date and location of the events have been incontinent. I would participate in Arizona events if at all possible. I have raced in Pro Auto Sports, NASA, Speed Ventures and Track Masters events in California and Arizona for several years. I really want to race SCCA events. Rally cross and rally sprints up in the flagstaff area would be great especially during the summer. With the rumors of a new track being built in Az. I see no reason why our club couldn't be revived, I think the lack of tracks (evaporation) has been our demise. As an avid racer, I'm willing to travel 500 each way to have fun at a great track, but I shouldn't have to, I know what Az. SCCA is capable of. If you are needing funds, there are a million ways to raise them if the wheels are turning! We have Chuckawalla, let's bring Inde back and let's move forward to a future of motorsports. ps, rally cross is really gaining momentum...look outside the box!!!

I think it would be helpful to know what racetracks are being considered. The closer to Phoenix the more participants you will probably get to participate.

I would love to see regional road racing events in the Arizona, Las Vegas and San Diego regilons again. Even if this meant sharing the weekend with BMW club, NASA, VARRA, etc. We are not sure what the Majors program is for club racers or what Street/Airport club events means but if they are real racing on street or airport layouts, we would participate if our schedule permitted. I'm a worker in Emergency Services. I am interested in opportunities to participate in events that will allow me to practice my specialty and move up in the licensing system. I am also interested in a potential path to steward one day. think outside the box, don't be afraid to try something new doing the same thing again and expecting different results is the definition of crazy All Az Region members do not live in metro Phoenix. I hope we can get SCCA back on track! The advantage we have over all the other track groups is Safety and a level of professionalism. If we can balance that with ease of use/entry we can attract racers. Know club racing and solo programs are all run separately but would like Az Region to bring back the 1st Friday Nighter TSD rally concept. I miss that from the 80s. Maybe not all year long - only 4-6 times - more of a social gathering of AZ Region night. I am glad to receive this questionnaire and I hope it means that our Arizona Region might regain its original strength. When I joined the club back in 2002, it was a dynamic organization with great people, competitive events and large attendance. I also enjoyed our involvement in activities like the Phoenix Children's Hospital benefit weekends. I'm supportive of board's efforts to improve our region. Thanks. 8 I still dream that PIR will build another road course within a few years... Thank you for working to keep the Region going. The club no longer offers local in-town racing. That is the biggest issue for me. I believe SCCA could host a successful Vintage series here in the Southwest. There is a latent pool of cars/drivers here in the Phoenix/ Tucson area that could form the core of a series. Add in some from the coast, and we'd have a successful series.. I would consider running in conjunction with other SCCA events like a Regional either at WHP or Indie.. We need more local SCCA road racing activity. I have only attended a learning session with your club and have just been very busy and have not been able to get out. I am always interested though in understanding my options. We need to get back into the racing game. But we cannot do it if the region continues to bleed money. I think the Board needs to find a happy medium somewhere somehow. We've been around for 60 years and would hate to see the whole club go away. The Board needs to take Topeka by the throat and get some real answers out of those idiots Team with other clubs events to increase car count and exposure. Let's let people know about the SCCA. Events not promoted. Especially Track Nite! The Az Region has failed to attract street car drivers which is why Nasa and ProAuto are still going strong. It is not from the road racers...its from the entry fees paid by all the street drivers (HPDE types) along with TT drivers. If any of the other organizations had to rely strictly on Road Racers, they would be in the same situation as AZSCCA. I've enjoyed learning Flagging and Communications with Bob Crenshaw. I'm not affluent individual..and don't center my life around money. So I may have views different than the typical SCCA member. I regret that I have seen a lack of tolerance of differing opinions, liberal v. conservative, gun owner v. non gun owner (me). I would like to see members (including me) park some of their biases, opinions, and attitudes at the door and instead enjoy a common activity that crosses lines of race, religion, political party, sexual orientation, and economic opportunity or lack thereof. We definitely need to get more young people involved in racing...particularly young people of non traditional groups like Hispanics, blacks, and other races and viewpoints that have been traditionally underepresented in the SCCA. Think "outside the box". Don't be afraid to try something different. Don't be the last one to do it. T SCCA member since National Scrutineer and Comp licences. I'm looking to NASA and Pro Autosports with SCCA's demise in AZ. It's gotta be FUN, think LeMons, everyone left with a smile on their face after the INDE event.
