4 TEAM OVERVIEW History Based in Columbus, Ohio, Michael Shank Racing was formed in 1989 when Mike Shank first began driving racing cars professionally. Shank retired from the cockpit in 1997 to focus his efforts on running the team, which quickly found success in the Champ Car Toyota Atlantic Championship. With several race wins under his belt, Shank was named as Team Owner of the Year twice in four years. Michael Shank Racing joined the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series in 2004 in the Daytona Prototype ranks as the team proved as quick in endurance racing as in the sprint formula car format. The team scored a dramatic victory in the 50th Anniversary Rolex 24 At Daytona, winning the race and also finishing third. In December of 2013, Michael Shank Racing set a new speed record when Colin Braun turned the fastest lap ever recorded on the Daytona International Speedway oval in the team s Ford Ecoboost-powered Daytona Prototype. The mph, second lap was enough to secure a spot in the record books. The effort also set new records for 10 km from a standing start and 10 miles from a standing start. When the GRAND-AM Series and American Le Mans Series merged to form the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship in 2014, Michael Shank Racing became the first team to utilize Ford s new 3.5-liter, twin-turbo V6 Ecoboost engine. The Shank organization completed the season sixth in the championship with a best finish of second at Road America opened a new era for Michael Shank Racing when the squad transitioned to a P2 car after 10 years of Daytona Prototype competition. The 2015 Rolex 24 At Daytona marked the team s debut with its new Ligier JS P2 car as well as its new engine platform with Honda. Longtime Michael Shank Racing driver Ozz Negri put the new Honda-powered Ligier JS P2 package on the pole for the classic 24-hour race to open the season in a big way. After finishing fifth in the Rolex 24, Michael Shank Racing went on to claim three podium results at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, the Grand Prix of Detroit, and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in The team finished sixth in the IMSA Championship standings with six top-five finishes. The 2016 season was a big one for Michael Shank Racing in its second year with the Honda-Ligier. The team made its debut in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with John Pew, Ozz Negri and Belgian racer Laurens Vanthoor. The group took ninth in their debut event a culmination of the huge effort put forth by every single team member. Likewise it was a big year for the team in IMSA competition. Pew and Negri combined to take victory at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and followed that up with a third place podium result in the Sahlen s 6 Hours of the Glen when they were joined by the team s endurance driver Olivier Pla of France. Pla put the Honda-Ligier on the pole at both Sebring and the Petit Le Mans. The 2016 Petit Le Mans marked Michael Shank Racing s 250th Prototype start and was also longtime Michael Shank Racing driver John Pew s final race with the team before retiring from IMSA racing. The team could not have closed out the era in a better way. After starting from the pole, Michael Shank Racing dominated the race and claimed victory in the 2016 season-ending event. Michael Shank Racing placed fourth in the championship standings which marked the team s best championship finish in its history. The 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship sees Michael Shank Racing embark on a new project with the Acura NSX GT3. Competing in the GTD category for the first time after 13 years in the Prototype ranks, Michael Shank Racing fields a two-car Acura NSX GT3 effort. 4

It was a double podium for the team in the prestigious event as the sister Michael Shank Racing No. 6 Ford-Riley finished third with drivers Michael McDowell, Gustavo Yacaman, Jorge Goncalvez, and Felipe Nasr. Pew and Negri nabbed three podiums and five top-five results Michael Shank Racing returned to a full-season two-car effort and took home three podium finishes. The year kicked off with a return trip to the Rolex 24 podium for John Pew, Ozz Negri, AJ Allmendinger, and Justin Wilson who finished third after having won the historic event in Pew and Negri rebounded from a practice crash with the No. 60 Ford-Riley when GRAND- AM debuted at Kansas Speedway to ultimately take third in the race. Gustavo Yacaman teamed with Justin Wilson in the No. 6 Daytona Prototype at Lime Rock Park and delivered Michael Shank Racing s best finish of the year when the duo finished runner-up in GRAND-AM s final race Fielded the No. 60 Ford Ecoboost Riley with full season drivers Ozz Negri and John Pew. Three top-five finishes during the year with a runner-up podium finish at Road America Transitioned to an LMP2 Honda-Ligier and scored the pole at Daytona with Ozz Negri at the wheel. The team claimed two podium finishes of third at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Second year for the team with the LMP2 Honda-Ligier. Olivier Pla put the car on pole at both Sebring and Petit Le Mans. Michael Shank Racing scored victories at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Petit Le Mans (250th Prototype start for the team and John Pew s final race with the team). The organization made its 24 Hours of Le Mans debut and led two laps en route to a ninth place finish. 6 DRIVERS GT Daytona (GTD) Ozz Negri No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 Date of Birth: May 29, 1964 Birthplace: Sao Paulo, Brazil Resides: Aventura, FL Don t let Ozz Negri s quiet, humble manner deceive you. He s one of the fastest drivers out there. Negri has scored a podium finish in every season of IMSA competition going back to his first full-season effort in Negri has anchored the Michael Shank Racing driver lineup since joining the team in 2004, scoring podium finishes each season and five career victories, including the 2012 Rolex 24 and the 2016 Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, which secured the North American Endurance Championship manufacturers title for Honda. In 2017, Negri steps out of the Prototype ranks for the first time in 14 years, driving in the GTD class for Michael Shank Racing. A father of two daughters and married to wife Claudia, Brazilian-born Negri has made his home in Miami. He maintains a strict training regimen and is a triathlete. He spends much of his time away from the track either training or serving as a driver coach. The 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship sees Michael Shank Racing embark on a new project with the Acura NSX GT3. Competing in the GTD category for the first time after 13 years in the Prototype ranks, Michael Shank Racing fields a two-car Acura NSX GT3 effort. Jeff Segal No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 Date of Birth: April 27, 1985 Birthplace: Philadelphia, PA Resides: Miami, FL Jeff Segal established his racing credentials by becoming the youngest champion in IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge history in That accomplishment helped open the doors to top-level GT racing for Segal, who converted a one-off start in the Hours of the Glen into a pole and victory. He built on that with two Rolex Series GT Class victories in 2009 ahead of taking the 2010 GT Class Championship. Moving to Ferrari, Segal returned to the Championship ranks in 2012 with his GT Class Championship to take his second title in three years. Segal explored international competition in 2014, making his debut at Le Mans in the Ferrari Challenge race. He returned to France to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015, driving a Ferrari to third in GTE-Am on debut in the huge event. He returned in 2016 to capture his first-ever Le Mans 24 race victory as part of a season that also saw him take wins in the Sebring 12 Hour as well as yet another victory at Watkins Glen in the 6 Hour. Segal is a graduate of the University of Miami with a degree in Business Administration, specializing in Entrepreneurship. He is fluent in French and proficient in Spanish and enjoys biking and shifter kart racing in his free time. Tom Dyer No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 (endurance driver) Birth Date: April 22, 1978 Birthplace: San Francisco, CA Resides: Corte Madera, CA Tom Dyer began his racing career in karting which ultimately transitioned into an open wheel and stock car career. In 2004, Dyer competed in the USF2000 Formula Ford series taking six wins and the ACC championship. He also made his stock car debut, racing in the NASCAR Southwest Tour Series where he won at Sonoma Raceway. Away from the IMSA circuit, Dyer is an avid kart racer, competing in various events around the country. Dyer has worked as a driver coach at the Jim Russell Racing School since He also remains active away from the track through bicycling and playing basketball. After several years of competing in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series, Dyer steps up to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship ranks in 2017 as the third Michael Shank Racing driver in all four North American Endurance Cup events. 6

7 Andy Lally No. 93 Acura NSX GT3 Date of Birth: February 11, 1975 Birthplace: Northport, NY Resides: Atlanta, GA Andy Lally is a three-time GRAND-AM class champion, with more than 30 career sports car racing victories. He is a five-time class winner of the Rolex 24, most recently winning in the GTD category in 2016 at Daytona International Speedway. The New York native also won Rookie of the Year honors in NASCAR Sprint Cup competition in Outside of auto racing, Lally is a World Championship street luge racer. After being No. 1 qualifier in two classes, Lally won the 2012 IGSA World Championships in both Street Luge and Classic Luge that took place in Calgary, Canada. Lally is purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and is an avid mountain biker who competes in cross-country mountain bike racing. In addition to his full-time efforts in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Lally competes part time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Katherine Legge No. 93 Acura NSX GT3 Date of Birth: July 12, 1980 Birthplace: Guildford, England Resides: Atlanta, GA Katherine Legge is a stand out driver that has accomplished a lot in her time in motorsports. After competing in various series in Europe, such as British Formula 3, British Formula Renault 2000 and DTM, Katherine made her way to the United States where she made her mark. female to lead an ALMS race and she made her second Indianapolis 500 start. Outside of racing, staying healthy and fit is a priority for Legge. An avid vegan and iron man participant, Legge keeps busy during down time. She is also a new member to the Next Moto Champion Cycling team where she looks to continue competing with them in Legge was a part of many racing firsts throughout her career including being the first female to compete full-time in the Champ Car series and first female to lead a Champ Car race. Legge made her Indianapolis 500 debut in The following year, Legge was the first Mark Wilkins No. 93 Acura NSX GT3 (endurance driver) Date of Birth: May 9, 1983 Birthplace: Toronto, Ontario Resides: Caledon, Ontario Like most racecar car drivers, Mark Wilkins was born with racing in his blood. Wilkins grew up racing with Canadian-based AIM Autosport in the Canadian Formula Ford Championship for five seasons before transitioning to the sports car racing world. In 2004, Wilkins found a new home in sports car racing when he debuted in his first-ever Rolex 24 and took a podium finish in the classic endurance event. In 2010, Wilkins finished every endurance race in the American Le Mans Series. He also drove for Michael Shank Racing in the 2010 Rolex 24 At Daytona and finished fifth while co-driving with Ozz Negri, John Pew, and Burt Frisselle. Wilkins was a key factor in helping Kia achieve the Pirelli World Challenge Manufacturers Championship in Outside of racing, Wilkins enjoys playing the father and husband role to wife Leah and son Levi. During the off-season, Mark enjoys the Canadian winters where he spends time snowmobiling and skiing. 7

8 MIKE SHANK Team Owner Mike Shank first started racing professionally in 1989, and quickly made a name for himself, earning notice as the SCCA-Ohio Valley Region Novice Driver of the Year. He didn t lose any momentum as he moved up the ladder, taking the 1996 Toyota Atlantic C2 Championship before moving up to race in the Indy Racing League. 8

9 As he gained winning experience in the car, he put that knowledge to work as his team expanded to run other drivers and Shank eventually retired as a driver to focus on running and growing his team. Competing in the Champ Car Toyota Atlantic Championship, Michael Shank Racing flourished with drivers like Kenny Wilden, Sam Hornish Jr., and Johnny Rutherford finding success with the team. Wilden scored runner-up in the 1999 Toyota Atlantic Championship, and Shank won Team Owner of the Year twice in four years before deciding to move his team into a new direction and the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series in Shank, who himself had one start as a driver in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, oversaw his team s adroit adaptation to the rigors of endurance racing, as the team led the first race they entered and finished on the podium in the second race they entered. With multiple podium trophies on the mantle in the Columbus, Ohio, shop, Shank is focused on taking his team to the next level, with a full-time stable of two cars, and with a talented stable of drivers piloting cars prepared by a loyal and professional crew, he is likely to continue to grow the legacy of the team. Michael Shank Racing made its 250th Prototype start in the 2016 Petit Le Mans and won the event. It marked longtime team driver John Pew s final race with the team before retiring from IMSA racing. Having competed in the top IMSA Prototype category for over 10 years, 2017 sees Mike Shank s team enter the GTD class championship with a two-car Acura NSX GT3 effort. 11 TRACK BY TRACK ANALYSIS Rolex 24 at Daytona Daytona International Speedway Michael Shank Racing won the 50th anniversary running of the Rolex 24 in 2012 with AJ Allmendinger, Ozz Negri, John Pew, and the late Justin Wilson. It was a double podium finish for the team that year with the sister Michael Shank Racing car taking third. Michael Shank Racing has scored two pole positions at Daytona the first in 2008 with Ozz Negri driving the Ford Riley and the second in 2015 with Ozz Negri driving the Honda Ligier. Driver Highlights at Daytona Ozz Negri: Negri won the 2012 Rolex 24 At Daytona with Michael Shank Racing and is a two-time pole winner (2008 & 2015). Lally is a five-time winner of the Rolex 24 At Daytona (2001, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2016). He has competed in the 2011 Daytona 500 and the 2011 Coke Zero 400 at the Speedway in NASCAR Cup as well as in NASCAR trucks in Lally is second overall in the most Rolex 24 podium finishes with nine (2001 1st, nd, nd, nd, st, rd, st, st, st). Scott Pruett holds the record with 15 podium finishes. Legge became the first woman to lead the Rolex 24 in She made her first IMSA race start came at Daytona International Speedway. Segal won the GTD class in the 2014 Rolex 24 At Daytona while driving a Ferrari 458 Italia. He also scored the GTD pole position in Hours of Sebring Sebring International Raceway 2017 marks Michael Shank Racing s fourth start in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. Having fielded a Prototype in the previous three races, the team earned a best finish of seventh. Olivier Pla scored the pole for the team in the 2016 event. Driver Highlights at Sebring: Lally won the 2014 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring driving a Porsche for Magnus Racing. He has stood on the podium at Sebring four times (2008 2nd, rd, st, rd). Segal won the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in the GTD class driving a Ferrari 468 GT3 for Scuderia Corsa last year (2016). Mark Wilkins: Wilkins is a two-time winner off the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in the PC class driving for Level 5 Motorsports and CORE Autosport, respectively (2010 & 2016). Tom Dyer: This year s event marks the first appearance for Tom Dyer in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. Long Beach Michael Shank Racing s best start at Long Beach came in 2014 when Ozz Negri put the No. 60 Ford Ecoboost Riley on the front row with second on the grid. The car also scored the fastest lap of the race that year with Negri at the wheel. Driver Highlights at Long Beach: Lally made one and only Long Beach start in 2010 when he filled in at the last minute for Mark Thomas who was unable to make his flight from Germany after an Icelandic volcano eruption. Lally drove the No. 63 Porsche and put it on the front row in qualifying after only one day of practice. Legge made her first start at Long Beach in 2005 when she won the season-opener Toyota Atlantic race. The 2017 Long Beach event marks Segal s first start at the venue. Ozz Negri: Negri competed at the Long Beach Grand Prix in Indy Lights competition in 1997 and 1999, with a best finish of seventh in The Brazilian has made four starts at Long Beach with Michael Shank Racing (2006, 2014, 2015, 2016) with a best finish of fifth in

12 TRACK BY TRACK ANALYSIS Circuit of the Americas Having made four starts at Circuit of the Americas, Michael Shank Racing s best finish at the track of fourth came in 2015 after Ozz Negri scored a second place starting spot on the front row during qualifying. Driver Highlights at COTA: Ozz Negri: Negri has made four starts at COTA in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition. He qualified second in 2015 and finished fourth in 2015 in the Honda-Ligier. Lally has scored two podium finishes at Circuit of the Americas. The first came when the American Le Mans Series ran at the Austin circuit in 2013 and he took third racing in the GTC class. He finished second in the GTD class in 2014 driving for Magnus Racing. Legge has made three appearances at COTA each as part of the DeltaWing Racing program. Her best finish at the track came in the 2013 American Le Mans Series race when she and co-driver Andy Meyrick placed second. Segal has one start at Circuit of the Americas in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. He finished 10th in 2013 while driving for AIM Autosport. Streets of Belle Isle Michael Shank Racing has a strong history at the street course nestled in Belle Isle Park. The team has scored three top-five finishes in the previous five events at the track including a runner-up finish in 2015 when John Pew and Ozz Negri drove forward from sixth on the grid. Last year, half of the team remained in Le Mans, France in preparation for the team s 24 Hours of Le Mans debut, while half of the team returned Stateside for the Detroit Grand Prix. With John Pew remaining in France, Katherine Legge made her first start with Michael Shank Racing at the Detroit event. The team looked poised for a podium finish until a suspension issue forced an unscheduled pit stop on the final restart of the race. The team was credited with fifth at the finish. Driver Highlights at Belle Isle: Ozz Negri: With four starts at Detroit, Negri s best finish came in 2015 with a runner-up result. Lally has raced at Detroit five times since his debut in His best finish came in 2012 when he finished fourth. Legge made her very first start in the Detroit race last year when she filled in for John Pew at the event in the Honda Ligier. Making her first start for Michael Shank Racing, she and Ozz Negri finished fifth. Segal has two starts in the Detroit event and finished among the top-five both times. In 2013, Segal took a podium finish of third and in 2012 took a fourth place result both times racing a Ferrari. Sahlen s 6 Hours of the Glen After finishing fourth in the Sahlen s 6 Hours of the Glen six times ( 06, 07, 08, 09, 11, 13), Michael Shank Racing broke through for a podium finish in last year s event when co-drivers John Pew, Ozz Negri and Olivier Pla placed third in the Honda-Ligier Prototype. Driver Highlights at the Glen: Ozz Negri: Negri has made 12 starts at Watkins Glen all with Michael Shank Racing in the Prototype class. His best finish in the Sahlen s 6 Hours came last year when he was third with John Pew and Olivier Pla. Lally has raced at Watkins Glen for over 15 years. Racing in the historic six-hour race from , Lally has amassed nine podium finishes, including three victories (2004, 2007, 2010). He finished second in last year s race driving for Magnus Racing. Lally made three NASCAR Cup starts at the Glen with a best finish of 18th in 2010 and one NASCAR Xfinity start at the Glen with a 10th place finish. Legge has made three Prototype starts in the Sahlen s 6 Hours of the Glen with the DeltaWing Racing program. Her best finish of seventh came in last year s event. Segal has significant experience driving at Watkins Glen having competed at the track in a Maserati, Mazda RX-8, Ferrari, Porsche, and BMW. He has two class wins in the Sahlen s 6 Hours of the Glen (2008 & 2016) with two additional podium finishes of third in 2011 and He won last year s GTD race driving a Ferrari for Scuderia Corsa. Tom Dyer: The 2017 Sahlen s 6 Hours of the Glen marks the first appearance in the event for Dyer. Mark Wilkins: Wilkins has competed in the Sahlen s 6 Hours of the Glen nine times since his debut in the event in His best finish in the race is fourth (2010 & 2011) in which he raced a BMW Riley Prototype for AIM Autosport. 13 Canadian Tire Motorsport Park In four events at the Canadian road course, Michael Shank Racing has brought home three top-five finishes including an impressive third place podium finish in 2015 in which Ozz Negri muscled the Honda Ligier to the finish in extremely hot conditions. Though he had to be assisted from the car and immediately cooled down with ice and water, Negri celebrated on the podium with his co-driver John Pew. Driver Highlights at CTMP: Ozz Negri: Negri anchored Michael Shank Racing to a podium finish of third in With four starts at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Lally s best finish of fourth came in 2013 while driving in the American Le Mans Series. Lime Rock Park The 2017 event will mark Michael Shank Racing s return to Lime Rock Park since its most recent event at the track in Prototypes haven t raced at Lime Rock since that year, so now competing as a GTD team, Michael Shank Racing returns. Though the team hasn t had the opportunity to race at the track as much as others in the category, Michael Shank Racing has a strong record at the track having picked up two runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2013 as well as a third place podium result in Driver Highlights at Lime Rock Park: Ozz Negri: Negri stood on the podium with a second place finish in 2011 while racing in the Prototype ranks for Michael Shank Racing. Having grown up in Northport, New York, Lime Rock Park can be considered Lally s home track where he has an extensive amount of experience. Lally has four class wins (2001, 2006, 2010, 2016) at the track as well as an additional podium result of second (2004). Legge has made one start at Lime Rock Park in which she stood on the podium in third, driving the DeltaWing Racing Prototype in the American Le Mans Series (2013). Segal has made several starts at Lime Rock Park with a best IMSA WeatherTech finish of third in He won a Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge (formerly KONI Challenge) race driving a BMW M3 in the GS class at the track in Road America Michael Shank Racing has never finished outside of the top-five since the team began racing at Road America in Those statistics include two podium finishes (2012 & 2014). The organization fielded a second car in 2013 which finished sixth. Team owner Mike Shank s first experiences at Road America were as a driver and not a team owner. He raced at the track in Toyota Atlantics, but his time at Road America dates back to his early club racing days. After several years of Atlantics competition, Michael Shank Racing transitioned into the sports car ranks in But it wasn t until 2011 that Mike Shank s team finally returned to Elkhart Lake with the then GRAND- AM series before it merged with the American Le Mans Series and became what s now known as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Mike Shank on racing at Road America: It was in 1989 and I qualified second in Pro Sport It s a great track, I loved it. Of course being a Midwestern guy, I raced at Road America in club racing all of my life. I raced in Toyota Atlantics at the track in And then again as a team owner, we ran several different guys there and podiumed a few times. Driver Highlights at Road America: Ozz Negri: Negri s first experience at Road America was as a test driver for the Barber Dodge Pro Series. He has scored two IMSA podium results at the track with Michael Shank Racing (2012 & 2014). Lally s first-ever IMSA start came at Road America in 2000 when he drove a Nissan-Lola and finished seventh. Since then, he s competed in 10 more races at the track in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, GRAND-AM, ALMS, and WeatherTech Series. His Road America resume boasts two podium finishes: third in 2003 while racing in the ALMS and third in 2001 while racing in GRAND-AM. Legge six starts at Road America. Her first two events were in Champ Car while the remaining four were with the DeltaWing Racing program. Legge had a significant high-speed crash at Road America in 2006 when the rear wing of her car broke. She amazingly emerged from the crash uninjured, but the video of the incident went viral. With seven top-five finishes at the track, Michael Shank Racing also scored podium finishes of third in 2007 and Driver Highlights at Laguna Seca: Ozz Negri: Negri won the Laguna Seca event overall in 2016 driving for Michael Shank Racing. He also scored a podium finish of third in 2007 and Lally has 13 IMSA WeatherTech starts at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Petit Le Mans Road Atlanta Michael Shank Racing won the final race in the IMSA Daytona Prototype era with a tremendous victory in the 2016 Petit Le Mans event with drivers John Pew, Ozz Negri, and Olivier Pla. The team, which was celebrating its 250th Prototype class race start, utilized its Honda-powered Ligier to lead every practice session, score the pole position in qualifying, led the most laps in the race and went on to set the fastest race lap in the final race of the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on its way to the victory. 16 OVERVIEW OF IMSA The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship features two styles of cars, Prototype and GT (Grand Touring). Each style of car has two classes, Pro and Pro-Am, meaning there are four classes of racing on track together, each with their own battle for the lead. The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is North America s premiere sports car endurance racing series. Competitors from across the globe compete for honors at some of the most historic and iconic race tracks in North America. Using production model offerings as their basis, the GT Daytona class machines are enhanced by technology and utilize the global FIA GT3 technical specifications. The GTD class consists of cars from leading manufacturers including Acura, Aston Martin, Audi, BW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus, AMG-Mercedes, and Porsche. The Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup is a unique four-race competition encompassing the marquee endurance races on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule. The winners in each of the four classes (Prototype, Prototype Challenge, GT Le Mans and GT Daytona) are awarded points at specific intervals for drivers, teams and manufacturers. This distinguished endurance competition features 52 hours of racing at North America s most prestigious endurance racing events. 18 REARVIEW MIRROR - DAYTONA DEBUT Michael Shank Racing with Curb/Agajanian Wins Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup in Rolex 24 At Daytona Remarkable Acura NSX debut with top-five finish for No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 Daytona Beach, Fla. (29 January 2017) Michael Shank Racing delivered an impressive performance in the Rolex 24 At Daytona as the team debuted its brand new Acura NSX GT3 machines at Daytona International Speedway over the weekend. Both cars led laps in a race that saw long periods of rain and cold temperatures which made track conditions challenging throughout much of the 24-hour endurance classic. The No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 of Jeff Segal, Ozz Negri, Tom Dyer, and Ryan Hunter-Reay took a fifth place finish after 634 laps of racing in the car s debut. The No. 93 Acura NSX GT3 driven by Andy Lally, Katherine Legge, Mark Wilkins, and Graham Rahal looked poised for a podium finish in the final stages of the 24- hour race, only to suffer a setback in the final 20 minutes that kept the car from taking the checkered flag on track. The No. 93 was credited with an 11th place result. The Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup is a championship within a championship with rounds held at each of the four endurance events on the IMSA calendar (Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, and Petit Le Mans). Points are distributed based on track position during designated segments of each race. For the Rolex 24 At Daytona, points are allocated at the six, 12-hour, 18-hour and 24-hour marks. Michael Shank Racing s consistently strong performance through the wide range of weather conditions saw the team emerge from the opening round of the championship with a victory in its first GTD class start. Perfect pit stops by the Michael Shank Racing crew members on each car saw both Acura NSX GT3s gain track position and move up the order as the team lead laps and ran among the top five through most of the race. This program has not been in Michael Shank Racing s hands working with HPD on this new NSX program for very long, said Team Manager, Tim Keene, who serves as strategist on the No. 86. I couldn t be more proud - it wasn t a race win, but it felt like it. I m so proud of everyone and how hard they worked to get here. If people could see all the work that went into this, they wouldn t believe it. These Michael Shank Racing guys have been busting their butts and it s incredible. To finish seven seconds off the lead in your very first race - and a 24 hour race no less - it just blows me away. I m just so proud of these guys. Contact with a prototype around 6 am eventually caused a vibration that contributed to the hood of the No. 93 Acura NSX GT3 coming loose with less than an hour remaining. Without the hood, the airflow was disrupted which resulted in an overheated gearbox, forcing the car to take to pit lane in the closing moments of the event. Despite that late race issue, the Michael Shank Racing team executed when it needed to and team owner Mike Shank was pleased with his organization s efforts. The key to this result was constantly digging and never stopping - with a plan, said Shank, who called strategy for the No. 93 Acura NSX GT3. Having a plan helped us a lot here. We talked a lot about the things that could happen in this race and we were ready for them. I m so pleased to execute on those plans and be able to have this kind of debut for the NSX. On top of that, all of our guys on the pit lane were just awesome. Every time we went into the pit box, we came out in better position than we were when we went in. I m thankful, but I m disappointed because both of our cars should have been in the top-five with no problem. But all in all it was just a great debut and I couldn t be happier for the team, Acura, and HPD. This feels very good and we re looking forward to a great year ahead. 19 DRIVER QUOTES: Jeff Segal, No. 86 Acura NSX GT3: We were all a little bit apprehensive about our first race. This car has never raced before and there were so many new challenges that might lay ahead of us. Finishing the race was a huge target so to finish fifth and having led a lot of the race in the rain was really incredible. I have to admit that I m a little disappointed because once we had led so much, I wanted to win! But it is really great work by this group. It is truly incredible. A lot of hard work by everyone at Acura, HPD and Michael ShankRacing. Some endless months and weeks were spent working on this car and it paid off. Ozz Negri, No. 86 Acura NSX GT3: The car led a bunch of laps and we were in the hunt since the green flag and it shows how strong my Michael ShankRacing team is. All of these people here from Honda, Acura, and all of my teammates put in a top class drive that was pretty strong. I am so proud. It s the first time I am working with my new engineer Ryan McCarthy and we are gelling and working together with all of my mechanics. I told a bunch of people before the race that I am the most optimistic guy and that s why I come to the race track and get podiums. I am very proud of Acura and Michael Shank Racing. Just to finish a long race like this for the first time out with a new car is great but a top-five is terrific. Tom Dyer, No. 86 Acura NSX GT3: My first Rolex 24 was great, it was everything I hoped it would be. It was definitely a team effort, everybody did their part. I think we ran really well and actually overachieved and exceeded expectations coming into this thing. I know everyone is happy that first of all we made it and then on top of that we achieved a top-five finish. It s a tough break for the No. 93, we wish we could have been there together at the end but we have Sebring coming up next and we will need to one-up ourselves and finish even better with both cars. Driving at night in the rain was pretty dicey. But everyone else was dealing with it too, so it is what it is and everyone has to deal with it so you just do the best you can and try to manage the situation to the best of your abilities and take care of everything. I enjoyed it a lot, I like driving in the rain so it was a good opportunity and a good time. Ryan Hunter-Reay, No. 86 Acura NSX GT3: It was fantastic from start to finish. The car was there and it was reliable and predictable especially in the rain. I was just blown away by how poised the car was and it allowed me to get away with a lot, it was very forgiving. I m very pleased with the NSX debut, and I am blown away by everyone at HPD and Michael Shank Racing that could do this in such a short amount of time. It is an amazing feat and a win within itself. These guys should be very proud. They have a bright future ahead of them. Andy Lally, No. 93 Acura NSX GT3: It literally just shucked the hood off at 175 mph, and that was a moment! The Michael Shank Racing guys tried to fix it and we had a no give up mentality because you never know what can happen here. The hood took a couple of wires with it which shut off the dash. I kept it off the wall but it ended our day. It s hard to run against so many of the world s top manufacturers, who have been doing it for years - I ve said it 20 times this weekend: we overachieved here. Congratulations to the whole team and to the No. 86 guys for a top-five finish today. Katherine Legge, No. 93 Acura NSX GT3: It was an amazing debut until about 45 minutes to go and that s just gutting. Everyone on the team did a phenomenal job so to have a retirement is tough to take. It s pretty amazing in the end: I m incredibly proud of the whole Michael Shank Racing team and just very gutted for them that we couldn t take the checkered flag. Mark Wilkins, No. 93 Acura NSX GT3: I can t say enough about Acura and the effort with the new NSX GT3. It s a fantastic car to drive. We really showed the capability of the car right away in its worldwide debut. We ran up front for much of the race and we battled some crazy conditions. It was crazy at night in the wet, in treacherous conditions. There were a lot of opportunities for big mistakes and I m bummed that we had a car get into us that ultimately affected our result in the end. But with conditions the way they were, it s hard to avoid everything. We just needed an extra 25 minutes at the end. It s always tough to get to the end and have a result like this, since expectations are high. But the car performed really well for us and the crew worked really hard to get us here. I m looking forward to Sebring and racing with the Michael Shank Racing guys again. Graham Rahal, No. 93 Acura NSX GT3: I m really pleased with the performance of the car - everybody did a great job and we made it a long way even though it was about 17 minutes too short. This Michael Shank Racing team has done a tremendous job, as has Acura. They ve done a great job with the NSX GT3 and obviously HPD. I was very proud to be a part of this effort. I hope to be back in the future. This was a very good debut for us and the (second Michael Shank Racing car) 86 had a great finish today so it was really a great debut all around for Michael Shank Racing and the Acura NSX program.
